The Art of Commentary - Greatest calls in WWE history (or your favourites)

Commentary is such an important part of the WWE, and some calls and moments just stick in your brain, so here's a place to share your favourites.

In my opinion the greatest commentary in history is Bobby Heenan at the 1992 Royal Rumble, managing to heel it up in his support of Flair, but still also covering the various interwoven stories through the match - notable highlights include

- I never thought I'd say this, but thank you Roddy, it's not a skirt it's a kilt (Roddy then goes after Flair) - Why you no good creep, you skirt wearing freak - it's not a kilt it's a skirt!!

- (Flair low blows Undertaker) Did you see that, Ric Flair just tried to lift the Undertaker!

- The Barbarian doesn't like anyone, when I managed him he barely liked me!

- Yes, yes, yes, yes!

Away from that, there's these:

Regal explaining the backstory between Hunico and Camacho where Hunico got stabbed to save him

The fact that they never built on this was so stupid. It was such a crazy backstory.

It at least made me like the two characters lol

Which was weird cuz heel

I loved JR's commentary when Benoit won the World title at WM20.

The whole post-match celebration was amazing, but you could tell that everything JR said on commentary after the bell was just pure, real emotion and it matched the moment of Benoit and Eddie sharing the ring together as World and WWE champions and crying tears of joy. It sounded like JR was tearing up a bit as well or was at least trying to hold the tears back whilst damn near losing his voice.

I feel shitty for only remembering funny stuff.

Tazz with the HOLY SHIT on the first ring break between Brock and Big Show. It was funny because he tried to say it once but Cole interrupted so he said it again. Like he desperately had to say that before the show went off air.

Jokes aside, one of my favorite commentary moments is when Rock and Kane did the "Kanenite" promo, and Lawler said "Kanenites!?!" at the exact moment that Rock mouthed the word. One of those things that couldn't have even been booked that way, and just worked out to be a really memorable moment due to freak timing alone.

That was hilarious. King in his prime on commentary was great. Like that time Bubba said he and Devon "saw the light at the end of the tunnel", Lawler uttered "Hope it's an oncoming train!" during the RTC hoax angle.
