M3J
Blade Runner 2049 was a pretty good movie, but I can see why it was a disappointment.

M3J
Might have felt too slow for others, if not dull. I haven't read the reviews, but it felt slow at some parts for me.

Royal Nakamura
Anyone have any thoughts on Black Panther? I thought it was pretty great. Stellar performances from Michael B. Jordan and the female cast, for the most part (God, Angela Bassett looks good as hell at her age), and Wakanda is so vibrant and rich with detail. The score of the movie is pretty cool, too, liked seeing how Ludwig composed certain pieces for it in the Genius video (link attached). I will say, however, that the movie started really gripping me after Killmonger (Michael B.) had arrived in Wakanda, and challenged T'Challa for the title of Black Panther/king of the throne. Before that, it just seemed fairly standard and intriguing but more flashy than substantial.
Creepia
I thought it was really good, a stellar movie throughout and I only have minimal criticisms; Michael B. Jordan had a good performance and the motivations and actions of the character was written well, but his dialogue at times was genuinely awful. It was very cliche, generic bad guy. I suppose it's a Disney movie. Also I feel like his entire plan had no build up and was very rushed. He said he had been waiting for it all his life, but we never get that sense of longing, we were just told that he was. So I feel that could have been fleshed out better, they could have spent time on that rather than Klaue at a casino and driving around. In terms of quality, it's probably one of Marvel's best. It was very well produced and cast and acted. It's not quite in my top five or whatever, but a damn solid flick.
Senex Beast
It's easily on my top 5 MCU films and as I said in the marvel thread, Black Panther is my new favorite MCU hero. He instantly was in Civil War but needed more like a solo film to make sure

Counting Lights
Just had a double-feature night with some friends yesterday, saw Greatest Showman and Game Night. Greatest Showman had some awesome musical numbers and amazing visuals, but the plot really wasn't anything to rave about. Glad I saw it, and I've been listening to the soundtrack since, but won't be watching it again. Game Night was pretty fantastic though. Good music, hilarious jokes, likable characters, great twists and cleverly edited shots, best movie I've seen this year and recommend it to anyone! Will be grabbing this one on Blue Ray once it's out.
Creepia
I've seen so many mums says that Greatest Showman is the best film they've ever seen. It was a fun film, but it's like...really? I suppose the musical numbers overrule the entirely basic story.
M3J
Rope was a pretty good movie. It was an experimental film, but I thought Hitchcock did a decent job. Doing long cuts kinda made it more realistic. It was a decent thriller, but the psychology of it is what makes it messed up.

Generations
Local dollar store has been having some random movies lately... Two weeks ago I grabbed 'Paranoia' (Liam Hemsworth, Harrison Ford and Gary Oldman), and 'Reign Over Me' (Adam Sandler)...got both of those on Blu Ray. Yeah...the friggin dollar store had random Blu Ray movies. Today I grabbed 'Filth' (James McAvoy), and 'The KeyMan' (Hugo Weaving)...both on DVD. I'm liking this random trend of halfway decent movies being sold at Dollar Tree. Only one I've watched is 'Reign Over Me'...but I always liked that movie, so I just figured I'd get the Blu Ray, since it was a goddamn dollar. Haven't seen any of the other three...and I've also been trying to limit buying DVDs these days...but, again...they cost a damn dollar. I couldn't resist. Even if I watch them once and then toss them to the side and never look at them again, I already got my money's worth. M3J
Tomb Raider and Ready Player One were fun, but I didn't like how Lara Croft kept getting her ass kicked a lot. Does the Dollar Tree have American Ultra? Fun movie.
Generations
I didn't like how Lara Croft kept getting her ass kicked a lot. Well, it's based on the reboot of the series, no? Makes perfect sense that she would take a beating...since that's exactly what happened to her in the reboot of the video game. You couldn't take two steps in that game without eating a shovel full of shit. Literally, you'd walk for two seconds and then fall off a cliff and break every branch on the way down. She isn't supposed to be a proper Tomb Raider yet. Edited April 3, 2018 by Generations
