Bronson
I just feel the Jags are the laughing stock of the NFL. Although they are doing very well rebuilding Their helmets aren't doing them any favors.

Just saw that the Panthers will host the Bills and Chiefs, and will visit the Patriots and Steelers in the preseason. Thought they weren't releasing Schedules until the draft was over? Ewok_3000
Thought they weren't releasing Schedules until the draft was over? Dunno. I just checked the Panthers website, and that was one of the main headlines.
twitch
They just released the preseason schedule, not the regular season schedule. I think they hold that hostage until after the draft incase there are any sudden must see match ups that develop via the draft.

Campaign For Liberty
Well now that Al Davis is dead im thinking they just won't try to draft really fast black people and fat kickers. That is not all that Al Davis drafted. Al's record in the draft isn't really all that bad when you step back. He had a knack for pulling some good players out of rounds 2-5. To name a few, Jared Veldhere, Lamar Houston, Stefen Wisniewski, Denarius Moore, and Tyvon Branch worked out well for Oakland. It is true that there have been some misses in the first round. That can't be ignored, but the overall record isn't as bad as it is made out to be, and some of the picks were seen as being great at the time. JaMarcus Russell was seen as being a John Elway level talent by many, Robert Gallery was a "can't miss" left tackle, Rolando McClain was supposed to be very sensible, and Darren McFadden was a mix of the best of Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush. These are mistakes that could have been made by any scouting department. As for the "fat kickers" comment: that fat kicker can make it from 70 yards out, so I don't think that is an area that requires any criticism. Exactly. Really the only one of the 1st round busts that was seen as a bad pick at the time was DHB. And ironically, he ended up playing better than most of them. Paulie Walnuts
VIck is not starting for this team. I don't know where the hell you people are getting this from. Personal opinions can be wrong in the face of actual facts. The guy hasn't been able to complete a full season in years. As much punishment as he took last year, Geno was able to start every single game, only missing out on a couple of quarters I believe, possibly one game after his rib injury. Geno has a lot more upside than Vick does as our starting QB, the front office and coaching staff realizes this. Geno will win the preseason "competition" and Vick will be his mentor backup/insurance policy for a single season, which we brought him in for. CarDaddyPlease
Vick is there to show a young guy who plays like him how to do it at this level. Vick was a top dog in Atlanta even without the titles. If Geno can stay healthy and they can get him weapons, he can be the next ATL Vick and stay outta trouble. Anyone that thinks they brought Vick in to play 16 games is nuts
Paulie Walnuts
True, but at the same time, Geno plays nothing like Vick. With all the speed he has, Geno has always been more of a pocket passer, just look at his WVU games, he rarely ran out of the pocket. He's capable of it, but it isn't something he bases his game around. I think that's part of what halted his growth last year, he looked good at times when he ran and was able to score TD's. But at the same time, it's secondary to him, not a primary motion.

But the only thing Vick was missing was a decent passing game to accompany it. Queue Vick to teach Geno how to run better and make it more of a weapon and read it at a pro level, you then have a Geno who is already accustomed to throwing first, but now has the looks of a Vick if he does choose to use it

Bronson
Al did great drafting in the middle rounds though, that's what he was saying. And it bears repeating that none of those busts (except DHB) were seen as bad picks at the time.
Campaign For Liberty
DJ Hayden is far from a lost cause. McClain's issues are a shock to most as he never had legal or effort issues before he was paid. DHB was a reach, but not a total wash. He was a great presence on the team as a hard worker who did produce for at least one year (I am convinced that he still can be a legit playmaker). There was no way McFadden's injury problems could have been predicted, and he has been productive when healthy (and is now under a great contract with only $100,000 in guaranteed money). About half of the teams in the league would have gone with JaMarcus Russell, as he was a supremely gifted QB. Huff was never all that bad, and has been a useful cover safety (more of a fit at CB). 23 teams missed on Rodgers. Gallery was a logical pick, and was very productive as a guard. These mistakes could have been made by any team. It is also worth noting that Oakland is not the only team with trouble in the draft. New England, for example, have been terrible drafters for quite a while. They manage to stay ahead of the league through a series of trades and free agent moves. It also doesn't hurt to have an all time great QB and coach. Oakland is far from alone in having draft issues. It is also worth noting that only one of those players (taken immediately after an Oakland pick) has seen sustained winning through their career. Judging them by saying "Well at the time we didn't think they would suck" isn't the best defense since you wouldn't draft them round one if you didn't think they sucked. Whoever drafted them thought they would be good, and they weren't. That is how one becomes a bust. If scouts didn't think they were worth the pick, they wouldn't have got picked. Again, Ryan Leaf was considered at least on par with Peyton Manning that year. Does that make him a good pick because they thought he was that good? Bronson
Here's an interesting stat regarding the Raiders bad draft history that I just saw; they drafted JaMarcus Russell over Calvin Johnson 7 years ago. The Lions have more losing season than the Raiders since.

The Lions have more losing season than the Raiders since. But the Lions have more winning seasons than the Raiders (We went 10-6 in the '11 Season. Raiders haven't had a 9+ winning season during that 7 year period). So I think its fair to say we have both equally suck.
