U.S. Politics Discussion

ah yes, that proclamation... forgot about that. thank you.

Nothing funny about it at all. And these are two different crisis discourses we have. You could put it in reverse for the republicans too if you wish. There was a crisis, and now suddenly everybody is comfortable there.

Look man, you can be conservative, others can be liberal, whatever... But whatever it is, this is complete bullshit and there is abdolutely no reason why they should treat those people like that. And you know it, you just don't want to admit it to yourself. They don't care about anything other than their rich white asses.

And if you are so concerned about goverment power, you should be concerned about things like this, while you can surely hold a view that immigrationn problems should be solved and regulated. You can and should be concerned about goverment banned abortion, while holding a view that abortion is morally wrong, and advise other people against it.

You should also realise what I said in my earlier post about those kind of videos. But no, it's easier to be snarky. You made that post randomly only to get somekind of reaction here.

Nobody is claiming everyone is comfortable there. That's why Congress just passed a 4.6 billion dollar bill to address it. Obviously the crisis Trump talked about caused the overcrowding. One does not happen without the other.

Again, Congress just passed a 4.6 billion dollar bill to address it. AOC voted against it btw.

Immigration problems should be solved and regulated. That is the responsibility of Congress to do and for the President to enforce. But breaking the law is breaking the law.

No I didn't. I posted it to show how much of an idiot AOC is.

Concentration camp. Just shows how evil and shitty the right are for ignoring this/being okay with it, and how inhumane the Trump Administration is.

It's all so *censored*ed up, especially with how they rip the kids apart from their parents and treat them so horribly.

another one of those "destroyed" videos... sigh... toxic. The thing is in this one, like in most ones, she didn't get "schooled" or whatever at all. That's not looking for discussion, it loking to stroke egoes. and people that supposedly are valuing "rational thinking" so much, should actually realise that kind of propaganda and manipulation.

"to obtain asylum through the affirmative asylum process you must be physically present in the United States. You may apply for asylum status regardless of how you arrived in the United States or your current immigration status."

https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/refugees-asylum/asylum/obtaining-asylum-united-states

You know how it is, conservatives are extremely selective in their understanding and will consider most arguments against the other side as the person "owning" the enemy, no matter how wrong they are. AOC can spit facts, but it won't matter to conservatives because it's not what they want to believe, and they'd rather believe a "centrist" or the right who's arguing with lies or statements not proven.

As guilty as the left and liberals are of similar, they're nowhere near as bad as conservatives.

and I thought getting into the US wasn't illegal, since as you said, you'd actually have to be in the country to apply for anything.

It's not a concentration camp. People break the law and it gets detained. Again, Congress passed a 4.6 billion dollar bill to address it. AOC voted against it.

AOC is a proven liar, and voted against giving these people you are advocating for aid.

LOL

As soon as you cross the border, you've broken immigration law. You can apply for asylum by going to a port of entry.

More signs of racism. Jim Himes tweeted the truth about Trump's aim with those tweets as well. Trump has truly turned the bigotry back up to a level not seen since probably the Civil War.

LOL. Jim Crow would like a word with you.

Puh, Trump has said a lot of problematic stuff over the course of his life...but this, this is even for him low.

And the fact that he doesnt get universally slammed for it aggressivly is just sad.

Have we really not come far enough for the world to stand up against open racism?

Because that is what it is.

Its not like some try to defend, him saying those women should go back to their citys or so...no the first part of his tweet literally says that he considers them being from different countries because of their names and skin color.

He doesnt see them as american, born/raised in america...just because of how they look and what their names are.

Those women swore and oath to serve the country as american citizens...but for Trump they are not americans just because they look different and dare to stand up to him.

I dont know...this is just another one of those things where it feels surreal, as if this is just a bad dream or so.

Because its so hard to believe that in 2019 the president of the united states can say something like this.

Its so hard to believe that racism is still this strong in america and not even republicans who act like the real americans, stand up to him and say "Stop, those are americans you smear."

I agree.

Everyone I have read have slammed him, even conservatives.

It's not racism. The same thing could be said of a white guy from a foreign country that is in Congress.

Not completely in the loop but I thought AOC didn't vote that bill in because she was afraid that money wasn't gonna be used for what they say it's gonna be used for. That 4.6 is awfully close to the 5 Trump wanted for his wall

She voted against it because she doesnt trust that the money was used wisely and was worried they would divert it.

Dont let the tactic of the right wingers get to you and listen to the lies to change the topic.

Keep the eyes on the prize, Racist attacks by the president of the united states.

He claims they praise and support al-qaeda, based on their skin color and names alone.

It was a bill the democrats put forth in the house. I guess she doesn't care THAT much for those people down there.

And you want to talk about racism Mani? Why don't you address the anti-semites that are Tlaib and Omar.

She was against it because she cared...because nobody was willing to say 100% sure that the money wouldnt go to something it shouldnt.

For the simple reason that it doesnt excuse or justify the president of the united states recent Racist attack.

Topic of Trump being racist doesnt make it less so by going "But but look at them they said allegedly this"

I get that in your mind those 4 women deserve to be attacked like this, that they deserve to be attacked with Racism...that is not surprising anybody i think.

I never said it excused what the President said. But what the President said wasn't racist.

I never said that they should be attacked like this. If you read above, I didn't like what he said.

It makes total sense considering she deals with a administration that lied before to get what they want and continue to do so.

It would have hurt them even more if she would have voted for it and the administration would have diverted the money to something that makes things even harder for those.

No it wasnt racist?

He looked at those women and couldnt see americans? Despite 3 of them being born and raised in america?

Hm, why is that not Racism when he looks at a person and assumes because of their name or how they look...they dont belong to the country?

LOL. Jim Crow would like a word with you.

It is a concentration camp, and it fits the definition of concentration camp. These immigrants are being persecuted for no reason other than being people of color. If a white European stayed in USA illegally, most people would turn a blind eye to the European just because he/she is white. You can change the definition of concentration camp if you want, pretend otherwise, but the fact won't change.

Trump and likely all of the right wing politicians are proven liars and hypocrites, and yet that seems to mean nothing. AOC actually tells the truth more than the right anyway and is usually on point to those who actually understand what she's saying instead of trying to twist her words. AOC I believe stated she was against the bill because it didn't do much to protect migrant kids and could be misused in some ways.

Assuming they'd even get aid of any kind. If they're not getting anything now, then what makes anyone think giving the White House and organizations running the concentration camps would make a difference?

Okay, but they still have to be in US at a port of entry. And if USA made it easier and cheaper for immigrants to immigrate, then maybe we'd see significantly less illegal immigration.

Which is ironic anyway coming from Americans who basically stole the land by killing indigenous people.

The country wasn't split in two though - imagine if Black people actually fought back with violence on the same level as white racists during the Jim Crow era. We would have been better off.

Omar isn't an Anti-Semite, that's just the right making shit up as per usual. To them, any criticism of Israel is Anti-Semitic while actual far right attacking or killing Jewish people can be ignorable.

Dude was legitimately judging people by their skin color and thinking they weren't American born because of it, but nah thats not racism.

So what was it?

If hes not racist why is he so obsessed with closing us off from Mexico? Calling all of them thieves and murders when more people died from tainted vegetables last year then killing by undocumented people?

It's your opinion that he was judging people by their skin color. What I am saying is, factually, he could've made that comment at a white immigrant from the Netherlands and it wouldn't have been racist. Also, a majority of Hispanics approved of the President's message.

https://twitter.com/RyanGirdusky/status/1151260271803084800

A lot of Hispanic white nationalists I guess.

He's not closing us off from Mexico. Even a majority of Mexicans want the Mexican President to deploy troops on their borders and deport migrants. Must be a lot of white nationalists in Mexico disguising themselves as Mexicans.

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/poll-majority-of-mexicans-supports-deportation-of-central-american-migrants/

He didn't call all of them thieves and murderers.

In regards to Omar, she is introducing a bill supporting the BDS movement. A movement from which she called "not useful" and one she said she wouldn't support during her campaign. Another lie from her.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/ilhan-omar-to-introduce-resolution-supporting-israel-boycotts

Nancy Pelosi at AIPAC: “We must also vigilant against bigoted or dangerous ideologies masquerading as policy and that includes BDS ... it does not recognize the right of Jewish people to national self-determination"”

“I simply declare to be anti-Semitic is to be anti-American”

I smell bullshit from you. Why would Omar ever not support BDS when she's been vocally anti-Israel due to their violence and has been pro-Palestine? And as far as I see, BDS movement has to do with Israel, not with Jewish people. But then again, Omar accused the politicians on both sides of being paid by Israel, and the politicians fear losing that money.

Doesn't America have a history of anti-Semitism? Didn't a right winger few months ago burn down a synagogue? Didn't USA stop taking in Jewish people during WWII? Seems that most right wingers are anti-American, then. Anyone with a brain knows better than to believe that crap that Pelosi's peddling.

And the majority of Hispanics did not approve of what he said, higher % disapproved more than they said it was okay or great. And it's not an opinion, it's a fact that he was judging from their skin color. Has he ever attacked any other white immigrant like Cruz, told them to go back to their country?

^ Exactly. It's a fact that his tweets were racist, and that he said them because of the color of their skin. To claim otherwise is either being ignorant or actually being a racist. Yeah and its a freaking tragedy how strongly people try to excuse, downplay or justify this behaviour of Trump.

Alone the amount of times i have read so far that those women said this or that, pretty much excusing Trumps attacks...its crazy.

Or the fact that just critizing Trump or America is considered Unamerican and therefore making it right to be attacked like that...its crazy.

The fact is that Trump attacked them like this simply because they dont agree with him...let that sink in.

Instead of tackling the critic of his presidency, this man again attacks people on a personal level instead of defending his decisions as president.

So which is it? Did Trump attack them because he's racist? Or because they didn't agree with him?

I'd argue that Trump did this throughout the 2016 presidential election. It didnt matter if they were white, black, male or female. He attacked everyone from Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio, to Ted Cruz and Rosie O'Donnel.

Personally I think his comments were stupid too. But more so because AOC was calling Nancy Pelosi a racist just a few days before. If Trump stayed off Twitter the democratic party would still be killing each other.

Mani-Man said: "attacked like this". You got him wrong.

People really don't see the issue, or don't want to see it. President of United States of America, attacked his opponents with racist remarks, yet people are tip toeing around it, and calling it stupid and not racist, and continue to attack said opponents...

*censored*ing absurd and sad.

No, they took in 132,000 Jews from 1932 to 1945. And your beloved FDR was in charge (a socialist Dem), so if those numbers are too low for you, you know who the anti-Semite was.

The amount of lies Trump has said, and especially to put Omar in so much danger, is just amazing and sickening. He and his supporters are really *censored*ed up, at least the ones who believe shit like Omar marrying her brother or her being anti-Semitic.

Funny thing is that Trump and his supporters pretend to be Americans and care about USA when they have proven the opposite. Horrible, hypocritical people.

Both. He can attack them because he got criticized while also making a racist statement.

He also didn't say "SEND BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY" to them, did he? Especially to white immigrants like Ted Cruz? He only said it to three women of color, two who were born in USA. That's racism, as is accusing one Muslim of supporting Al-Quaeda.

As I said, if you don't understand what's wrong with what he said, then you most likely are either a racist or okay with racism. And I tried googling it, but I couldn't find where AOC called Pelosi a racist. It mainly mentions the infighting or Pelosi calling Trump a racist.

He questioned if Cruz was eligible to become president because of his Canadian birth and said his (Cruz) dad helped kill JFK.

And the AOC is partly true, my mistake. AOC accused Pelosi of "the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color". But it was AOC's chief of staff that said Pelosi is an ineffective legislator, that a Native American lawmaker voted “to enable a racist system” and that moderate Democrats are modern-day segregationists because they backed a Senate border aid bill.

Did he tell Cruz to go back to Canada or Europe though? And how is Cruz's dad helping to kill JFK even related to immigration/telling people of color to go back to where they came from even if they were born in the US?

Doesn't look like AOC is wrong about Pelosi though. I can understand why AOC's chief of staff said that though, and the Democrats should stop getting mad at that and start learning what they're doing wrong, especially since Chakrabarti seems to be one heckuva progressive dude.

I'm going to call b******* on that America has had a huge history of anti-semitism and its history he'll early 1900s is very commonplace around the world it was as prevalent compared to that of the Europe but it was still there
