Naturally, I want the Sharks to win. And with the defense they obtained in the offseason, they definitely have a legit shot of doing so. But the team I'm worried about the most, is the Kings. While they don't exactly have the most Playoff experience in recent history, the players they acquired have definitely helped with their depth.

I have a feeling Jets will make it to the Stanley Cup in some weird ass "First Season" run, but will lose.

Considering the Jets core is mostly made up of the old Thrashers team, I doubt this. However, if this were to happen, they'd be the 4th Canadian team to fall in the Finals since the lockout. But on a bright side, the Jets will be able to get more fans than the Thrashers ever could.

Damn you Ernez for closing my awesome topic! :poke:

Islanders for the playoffs this year. Mark it down.

You're cute. Where they moving to once they clearly aren't going to get their new stadium for sure?

That's what everyone wants you to believe... :shift:

Last year the Thrashers were one of the better teams in the beginning of the season and then fell off. I think they can make a pretty good push to make the playoffs but eventually fail. They have that crazy environment over there with those die-hard fans which will definitely be an advantage for them.

Their environment will definitely help them. In their division, I think their biggest challenger will be Tampa. Florida could also do well. But then again, most of the players they signed are average. None of them truly stand out for me.

I also wonder how the Hurricanes will do. Sure, they lost Cole, but they gained Kaberle. They also gained Brian Boucher, who will be a good back-up for Ward.

I think a mixture of being the core of the old team that was good begining of the season like LIO said, plus the fact they're a "new team" will give them that weirdly odd thing we see in sports where they're make some "incredible" run, but fall short of winning it all.

Crosby Visits Leading Specialists

Wednesday, 08.24.2011 / 8:48 PM / News

The latest steps in Sidney Crosby’s recovery from a concussion have been visits to leading specialists around the country to monitor his progress.

Their conclusion is that he will make a full recovery – it just takes time.

Crosby is expected to be back in Pittsburgh in the next few weeks, where he will continue to work toward a return to the ice, although no specific timetable has been set.

“I appreciate all the support I’ve received from my family, friends, teammates and fans and from the entire Penguins organization,” Crosby said. “I know they only want the best for my health, and for me to be fully ready when I return to game action.”

“We always knew this was going to be a progressive recovery – based on how he felt,” said Pat Brisson, Crosby’s agent. “With a concussion, there is not a finite recovery period like with a shoulder injury or a knee injury. That’s why we’ve never even set a specific goal for a return date like the start of training camp or Oct. 1 or anything else. He will play when he is symptom free.”

Crosby, who suffered a concussion in January and missed the rest of the 2010-11 season, made significant progress over the summer and took part in his normal, rigorous off-season workout program – including skating, shooting, stickhandling and off-ice work.

When he got to 90 percent exertion in his workouts, however, he started having some headaches again. At that point, his doctors and trainers altered his workouts accordingly.

He recently has visited specialists in Michigan and Georgia.

“We’ve had him see leading specialists because we want to make sure he gets the best care possible,” Brisson said. “The Penguins always encourage their players to get second and third medical opinions and have been very supportive of this. And we’ve been talking to Ray Shero every step of the way.”

The Penguins open training camp on Sept. 16 and play their first regular-season game on Oct. 6, but Brisson said Crosby’s return won’t be dictated by dates or games. He will play whenever he is ready – whatever that date may be.

“We would appreciate patience and understanding at this time,” Brisson said. “There has been a lot of speculation swirling over the past several weeks. We wish we could provide more specific details about Sidney’s recovery, but a concussion is a different kind of injury. It’s not something you can check with an x-ray. And you can’t predict a precise recovery period. It’s all about the way he feels.

“He has been feeling a lot better but we want to give him all the time he needs to make a full recovery. He’s only 24, and he’s got a lot of great years ahead of him.”

This is big news. Pretty much saying that Crosby will be back, he's not going to leave the game like the speculation was earlier this summer, and that he WILL make a full recovery. The Next One will play again. If he comes back in time for the season, hell if he plays at least half the games the Penguins are a huge cup threat. Without him, Geno has to carry the team but he did it in '08 when Crosby went down with his High Ankle Sprain.

While I'm not a Crosby fan, it is good to see that he'll make a return. Because the kid's got talent, and there's nothing than someone with a shitload of talent getting cut down in his prime.

NHL Legends confirmed for NHL 12:

3 Legends so far are confirmed. They are Gretzky, Lemieux and Gordy Howe. I'd love to see Scott Stevens or Mark Messier. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I wonder who will get it for PS3. I know I will.

They've all been confirmed already actually. The Legends in the game are Wayne Gretzky, Chris Chelios, Ray Bourque, Borje Salming, Steve Yzerman, Patrick Roy, Jeremy Roenick, Gordie Howe, and Mario Lemieux.

Wheres the Bobby Orr love? :(

It ain't right. And what about Sakic?

I actually went to put a bid on a Bobby Orr jersey on TradeMe (think of it like eBay, except a LOT smaller). Turns out the jersey was 2-3 sizes too small for me. It was a size 50, which according to one of the catalogs I checked, is anywhere between a small and a medium. I need a large at least. So I didn't put a bid on it. Would have been awesome to own though.

Good to hear Crosby will be back. Despise the Pens, but it was a shame to see a player of his caliber go down like that.

Speaking of season ending concussions, I wonder how David Perron of the Blues is doing. He suffered a concussion in November and was done for the season, and they still don't know if he can make it to camp. Terrible story for him. I really hope he gets better. He was playing lights out before he got sidelined.

It's even worse that because he's not a player of Crosby's caliber that ESPN or NHL websites don't really even follow his recovery.

I agree on Sakic.

And yeah that blows, would be cool to have an Orr jersey even though I hate the Bruins. Would be a bad ass piece of hockey history to have.

I found the jersey on eBay. This was it:

If the 50 really is a L, then I'm gonna be kicking myself. Coz that was the jersey I was going for.

It's like that with all kinds of injuries. If you're not a top player, they won't report updates about it on NHL.com. Lately, the only injuries I've seen been mentioned on the NHL site in their own report, are of Crosby, Malkin (who's been training in Russia) and Kane.
