Around this same time last year, bunch of my friends liked them, so I watched this and thought it wasn't bad, so I downloaded like 30 of their songs and listened to them.

Great song. I am slightly creeped out by that music video tho.

Did you first hear No Children off Moral Orel? That's where I heard it first.

Nah, my friend gave me their album first, but I have seen the episode where they use it. The song fits perfectly with the episode.

That is does. Moral Orel is a very underated show. While it is a comedy show, it deals with several very dark themes.

Haha, watch the "A Little Piece of Heaven" music video if you really want to be creeped out :shifty:

My mate was trying to get me into Robyn Hitchcock and as usual I was acting stubborn. I'd often heard of him, normally through comparisions that were made with Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd. Anyway, he kept pushing this LP on me whenever I was over at his house. Eventually this song came on and I couldn't resist any longer.

My introduction to Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra came through a 12" single by Lydia Lunch and Rowland S Howard (who I knew through the bands the Boys Next Door and The Birthday Party).

I listened to the record heaps and was intrigued by this song with the weird 3/4 middle. I just had to check out the original song. I knew some of Nancy's stuff beforehand like These Boots Are Made For Walking but managed to find a best of Nancy cd that had the original song on it and was hooked.

Hearing Lee's voice made me check out his solo albums. He's got a great voice.

My introduction to my favorite band was really odd. The first song I heard by them was the only song to this day that I still don't like. I heard "Fly" by Blind Guardian on satellite radio with a friend of mine, and we both wrote it off as being something we just weren't in to. Later on I looked up some of their other music and I was hooked instantly.

The first time I heard Alter Bridge was around the time Open Your Eyes was released. I was all of 11 and Creed was one of my favourite bands. The DJ said that Creed had disbanded but Alter Bridge was formed as a result. I loved the song and a few months later, Edge starts using Metalingus as his theme, Alter Bridge appear on RAW and I somehow manage to score One Day Remains, which was really hard to find at that time.

I had heard of Taking Back Sunday, but the first thing that got me thinking about them was a youtube video with a guy giving his list of the best rock songs of all time. I believe it was Your Own Disaster on that list. Eventually, I asked my friend about them and he showed me the above song and MakeDamnSure. That inspired me to go out to buy the Louder Now album, but back in the day, I just played singles and not listened to entire albums. So it wasn't until Timberwolves At New Jersey that I got hooked. I went out and bought Tell All Your Friends, listened to it front to back, and fell in love. I'm a huge John Nolan fan. I saw them in concert in 2009 and I'm planning on going to their upcoming show here in October.

blink-182 is my favorite band of all time. I first heard All The Small Things, like many others, but I heard Feeling This during a late night while I was on a trip thanks to MTV actually playing music videos at the time. I think it was called MTV After Hours. I believe it was in 2003-2004. Years later, I went back to this song and it's just one of those songs that has a lot of memories attached to it. It was my favorite song during some important points of my life, so I don't think I can ever forget it, not that I want to. I've seen them in concert since and they remain my favorite band.

I could definitely see that as a weird introduction to them. I still see Follow the Blind as their weakest album to this day, probably being followed by A Twist in the Myth. Tales From the Twilight World is amazing, and I'm quite fond of At the Edge of Time as well.

This is about my introduction to the UK Power Electronics band Whitehouse.

It starts with Throbbing Gristle

I had bought a book called Englands Dreaming by Jon Savage. A really great book about Punk. A really detailed book about the movement. Not about the *censored*ing fashion that it became to be. At the back of this book was a thick section listing bands and their records and how they tie into Punk. Everyone from Bowie/Eno, the early Ted's, rockabilly, post-Punk and some of the beginnings of Industrial. In that section was Throbbing Gristle. They sounded interesting so I checked them out and after awhile got into them pretty heavy. Later I read a book all about them called I think "The Wreckers of Civilisation". In that book Genesis P-Orridge, bass player, vocalist etc for TG mentioned a band called Whitehouse. Saying they were disgusting, awful & insulting. For that to come from Gen, who had all the same accusations thrown at him (now her or he/she) really got me interested. So of course I had to check them out. That began my interest in Whitehouse.

After that I heard a lot of Noise/Power Electronics but none of them had the potent power of Whitehouse.

(Except for maybe Sutcliffe Jügend)

Nolan way too awesome. Fred was pretty decent but noone will ever replace Nolan. I saw them at Bamboozle earlier in the year, they played Tell All Your Friends from from to back than did like 10 more songs.

I can't honestly tell you the first Depeche Mode song I heard when I got "Into them". I've heard their song around all the time before, even if I didn't know it was them (Personal Jesus, Policy of Truth, Just Can't Get Enough, People are People, etc), but I can't say with certainty the first song that got me into them as a favorite band or even as a band I knew existed, but probably Personal Jesus. /end rambling

I don't have one favourite band but Iron Maiden is one of the few bands that i can listen to anything they've ever released and enjoy it. The song that got me into them was 'Wicker Man'...(1996?)

You guys are simply the best. Didn't think there were other people on this site that were as big TBS fans as me.

I first heard of Taking Back Sunday through their earlier songs from albums like Tell All Your Friends and Where You Want To Be. They've been my number 1 band ever since.
