  15. Triple H was given the WWF Title first before he started seeing Stephanie. He won it off Foley in August 99. The angle with Stephanie (which actually began their off screen relationship) wasn't until November. He was given it simply because he was the very best heel on the roster at the time, and a perfect foil for Foley and the Rock to chase. He was so hated as a heel he even managed to turn Vince face for Armageddon, and the naive sweet Stephanie into an evil bitch at the same event. People seem to think that he got everything handed to him because he was family, in fact it's worth recalling that he ate everything for the Curtain Call, went to the very bottom of the card as a result and worked his way up. He was very much a "top guy" and one of Vince's go to guys before he got involved with Steph. In fact, it was probably only the fact Vince trusted Hunter so much that he eventually let Steph see him. I won't argue that after that, sometimes he got favourable booking - but he never got handed the world title as a result of that until at least 2003. If you read what I said he wasn't Truly "The Guy" until when he was handed the title. He was always important and one of the top guys but he had Austin and Rock above him. I mean from mid 99 til he tore his quad he was The Top Heel til Austin became Heel. After that they pushed him to the moon and it never really worked because he wasn't that good as a face and as a heel he was good but he wasn't the as great as before and went over all the Faces til Batista, when they finally gave up on him being the top guy. Also I was talking about being the Top Guy, when Triple H won the Tithe before he was handed it he wasn't The Guy like Austin, Hogan, Rock, Cena, Roman, HBK. Hell Rock was only The Guy do to Austin being out, as soon as he returned he pushed back down a peg. I'd agree with that, but him becoming the top superstar in the end wasn't a result of Stephanie, it was the retirement of #1 (Austin) and #2 disappearing off to Hollywood. He was effectively promoted by that happening. I think the failure of his face run was partly down to the booking of Jericho as basically not being a threat to him (through being p*ssy whipped by Steph) a hero is only really as good as his respective villain. Plus it was also pretty much a foregone conclusion that following his January return, he was winning the Rumble and taking the title at Mania. That also hurt him as a face, because there's no need to have the people hoping it happened, because it was obvious. Then also you had his coronation taking place in the shadow of Hogan and Rock. Plus I do think that being the top heel for almost 2 years then try to comeback as a big face kinda killed it. Like he had a great Pop for his return then it was all down hill. He was the most hated guy who took out Austin, Foley, helped take out Rock, and now we buy he's the top face pushing Rock & Austin out of the way when the fans loved both more, hell they loved Hogan more when he returned.

  17. TIL that Shawn Michaels called Bret Hart the grand wizard and the Hart Foundation the KKK on TV. Didn't realized how far the race war went with the Nation.
  18. The Extreme/Eastern thing is weird, I think the Eastern Title reigns I don't think count due to Gordon basically folding Eastern to get out of the NWA and creating Extreme with everything from Eastern. So even it's kinda like two different company's but not really. Also, didn't know for a long time but WCW's World title was the NWA title til Flair left with the Big Gold. So WCW created a real title and the NWA just waited til they got the title back.
  19. It's because the title he won later became a world title, so the title history becomes a world title, if it was a different title then it would not but it's the same title.
  20. Can't count USWA World Titles since the company was just a territory. But Flair still is #1 with 21 reigns just WWE won't count some of them. He just broke the tie for second. Now it's like this.1. Ric Flair - 21 2. John Cena - 16 3. Sting, Jeff Jarrett, Verne Gagne - 15 So Sammartino was never world champ? And where do the 15 title reigns for Gagne come from, wasn't the AWA just a territory? No, Sammartino was a world champion because he won the WWE title, and to be fair the WWF, AWA, and NWA titles were treated like equals back in the day. AWA travels around alot of the country plus had a national TV deal with ESPN. AWA is considered a national promotion, USWA was just a territory that could not go national, heck WWE sent in the C squad for their Invasion.

  22. wtf. Nooooo What happened? Disease No, No, No. He's under the McMahon protection. Vince is trying to get a El Generico vs Sami Zayn match but can't seem to get them together to have it. So Vince has him signed to a contract in hiding waiting for the moment. But something always stops one from showing up. Vince just can't figure out why.
