Name: Nathaniel Gertz
Hometown: Chesapeake, Virginia
Gimmick: Violent psychopath just released from a high-security prison.
In-Ring Style: Brawler, with a particular specialisation in hardcore matches. Not considered a great technician, and a fairly average body size stops him being an effective grappler in WWE. However, he is a decent striker and uses a wide variety of punches and elbows as part of his offense. Supplements his brawling with some low-technique high-flying manoeuvres (e.g. cross-bodies, elbow drops and the like, as opposed to flips), and has a reputation from his tenure in NXT for high-risk spots. Has some creative dirty moves, such as chokes, gouges and head butts that enhance his status as a violent heel.
Signature Moves: Primal Concrete Sledge (Grounded Right Hook) | Choke Sermon (Rope Choke 1)
Finishing Move: Smashmouth (Facelock Knee Smash / Facebuster Knee Smash): Standing | Rebound | Running
Other Finisher (technically, an OMG move): Suicidal Tendencies (Suicide Spear)
Background (non-kayfabe): Born Nathan Manning in March 1986, Chesapeake, Virginia. Troubled upbringing led to a short prison sentence in his early 20s for various petty crimes, including breaking and entering, trespassing and vandalism. Nathan turned his life around after getting out of prison, and trained with Lance Storm's wrestling school. He spent the next 5 years working for various indie promotions, most notably CZW, as well as some dates with NJPW. In 2013, he was signed as a developmental talent by WWE and joined the NXT roster. After working non-televised matches for around 4 months, Nathan was given the Nathaniel Gertz gimmick and started feuding with Baron Corbin. The WWE brass have high hopes that Gertz can be the next Kevin Owens, thanks to his unique look and solid in-ring ability. Detractors feel that his size could work against him in WWE and that his slightly wild style and penchant for high spots could result in frequent injuries.

Name: "Gym Bro" Nicky Carrino
Hometown: Venice Beach, California
Gimmick: Heel: Arrogant, loud-mouthed gym douche who works out a lot and thinks he's God's gift to wrestling.
In-Ring Style: Powerhouse: works plenty of suplexes, body slams and decent mat work into his repertoire. Rarely leaves the mat, and not big on striking.
Signature Moves: Leg Day (Stalled Suplex); BroBreaker (Tilt-a-whirl Backbreaker 2)
Finishing Move: The Gun Show (Flex and Drop)
Catchphrase: "Bro, do you even lift?"
Background (non-kayfabe): Born Nicolas Testa in July 1987, raised in Los Angeles, California. Nic was a top amateur wrestler in high school, and was on the wrestling team at DI Arizona State while studying for a degree in Sports Science. Following University, Nic competed professionally in bodybuilding contests and took part in various amateur powerlifting and strongman events. During this time, he also started a satirical YouTube channel, poking fun at "Bro Science" and overly macho gym culture. It was via his YouTube channel that he was spotted by WWE's Senior Director of Talent, Canyon Ceman. Ceman liked Nic's natural charisma and look, as well as his strong background in amateur wrestling, and invited him to WWE Development Headquarters in Florida for a private try-out. Nic impressed the WWE trainers, and was signed to a developmental contract. Since then, he has taken on the Nicky Carrino character and incorporated elements of his popular YouTube into the gimmick, getting over as a loudmouth heel who fans long to see put in his place. Though his initial work in the ring was very green, over the last 18 months, Carrino has really matured into a well-rounded performer, and is expected to get a shot at the NXT title on a forthcoming Takeover event.
Name: "The Phoenix" Jet Matsuda
Hometown: Osaka, Japan
Gimmick: Face: Heroic, Japanese high-flyer. Undying will to win and ability to fight back from adversity. Sort of Japan's answer to Rey Mysterio Jnr.
In-Ring Style: Spectacular high-flyer, with lots of moves off the top ropes and springboard offense. Also a good technician, capable of effective submission holds.
Signature Moves: Phoenix Suplex (Tiger Suplex 1); Firestarter (Wristlock Springboard DDT)
Finishing Moves: Phoenix Splash (Phoenix Splash); Fire Clutch (Rolling Kneebar)
Background (non-kayfabe): Born Shinji Matsuda in November 1983 and raised in Osaka, Japan. Matsuda was a martial arts and amateur wrestling enthusiast from a young age, and decided to make a career in professional wrestling. He trained with Ultimo Dragon, alongside "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, and made his debut at around the same time in 2004. After finishing his training, Matsuda worked all over the world, including Mexico, Germany, the UK, and for some indie promotions in the USA before returning to Japan in 2010. Matsuda was signed by New Japan Pro Wrestling, and rapidly rose through the ranks, becoming IWGP Junior World Heavyweight Champion two times, IWGP Tag Team Champion once (alongside Gedo), and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion twice (alongside Tamoaki Honma). Japanese fans started calling Matsuda "The Phoenix", owing to his impressive high-flying style and ability to fight back from seemingly impossible odds to win. In October 2015, he was signed by WWE NXT on a lucrative contract, and thrust immediately to the top of the card. WWE officials feel that he could be the greatest Japanese import of his generation, owing to his high-risk style and excellent grasp of the English language.
Name: Reverend Zachary Irvin
Hometown: New Orleans, Louisiana
Gimmick: Face: Gospel preacher/Pastor.
In-Ring Style: Powerhouse, lots of slams and suplexes. Rarely leaves the mat, and relies on power rather than technique to win.
Signature Moves: Hand of God (Spinning Backfist); Sit-Out Spinebuster (Spinebuster 10)
Finishing Moves: Judgement Day (Tilt-A-Whirl Slam); Purgatory (Ankle Lock)
Background (non-kayfabe): Born John Franklin in May 1979, and raised as a devout Christian in New Orleans, Louisiana. Franklin was always a man of faith, and also harboured a passion for professional wrestling having spent much of his youth watching WWF and JCP matches on TV. Irvin became a pastor at the age of 25 and lead a church in New Orleans for nearly a decade. In his spare time, he would teach Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido, as well as compete in local power lifting contests - which is what gave him the athletic gifts required for a WWE Superstar, despite no background in amateur or professional wrestling. When WWE was in town for WrestleMania XXX, Shawn Michaels attended a sermon at Franklin's church and was impressed by the big man's passion and charisma. The two spoke at length after the sermon, which - owing to Franklin's longstanding interest in Pro Wrestling - led to Michaels recommending him to Triple H. Though initially reluctant to leave the church, Franklin eventually decided to follow his dream and tried out for NXT in Florida. He was described by trainer William Regal as, "A complete natural. Very rare athleticism, size, and a remarkable ability to quickly learn new moves and techniques". After much soul-searching, Franklin left his role at the church and began training. In mid-2015, he began working house shows for NXT and adopted his Reverend Zachary Irvin gimmick. Fans quickly took to the charismatic pastor, and he rapidly ascended the card in NXT following his televised debut in October 2015.
