A N T I -
I don’t get the hate for the island the way they did it. I thought it was fun going through the storylines and checking it all out. I hope to see it be twice as large and triple as cool in 2K26 now that people have seen it and have been vocal about improvements that could be made. Edited September 15 by A N T I - Link to comment
Crazyjk4
Honestly the island is more boring than bad imo, at least there's somewhat a story to it plus there's some okay caw parts in it and its not a gamble like MyFaction is. The only downsides are the lack of substance, you can't change the colors of the clothes, and there's no map of anything. Link to comment
judas priest superstar
The Island feels like a proof-of-concept pitch that didn't get all the way there. Now, while it's a jarring addition to this series, I think in a few years, they might be able to get something respectable out of it. I probably won't be playing it (solo/offline modes >>>> all) but i think they could do something. Just need to avoid the pratfalls NBA 2K fell head over feet for. Link to comment

The only downsides are the lack of substance, you can't change the colors of the clothes, and there's no map of anything. It’s the first year for it so I did expect it to be a bit bare bones. The faster, easier methods of transportation and map and all that good stuff will come..or atleast I hope so. NBA2K’s City didn’t just happen one year. It started out as the Neighborhood and us having to walk everywhere and they gradually improved and expanded on it year after year. I hope they continue expanding on the concept, I really do. It was the chief reason for my having bought a PS5 and purchased 2K25. Unfortunately, it was the game as a whole outside of the island that I found boring and stopped playing after about 2-3 months. I don’t know why. Like the new additions were great. The return of multi-person backstage brawls and the new stages were great. I still enjoy doing war games..probably my most played match type outside of Singles. From a moves perspective and a content perspective, the games don’t feel complete and fun. I know they can’t and/or won’t just stop everything to give us things we personally long for in these games. But having Patrick Gilmore on the team felt like the last time we and our wants and needs for the franchise were truly being heard as a community. They have taken some steps forward and some back in the way of immersion and replayability. Why isn’t there a decade’s iteration of Create A Move? There is no genre of video game in which custom music is more vital than the top pro wrestling game on the market. I’ve said it for years, every year, and every year I’m met with excuses. If they can mod entrance music in for EVERYONE to use, then why can’t something be set up for us to use our own mp3 and wav files in the privacy of our own home without the ordeal of modding? Nobody agrees with Victoria’s song choice this year and New Jack could’ve been A-1 if not for that one detail missing. Yet a basketball player gets ‘Many Men’ and nobody else can have that song. Why? Why is there a Create A Video almost nobody uses when there should be a Story Designer as part of the Creation Suite and Community Creations for fun and to run wild with our creativity? For being the top and virtually only new wrestling game on the market yearly, nobody puts these games on the pedestal that they put other games of it’s time on or any of the classic titles that came out for N64 and PS1/PS2. Like dawg….step it up already…across the board. Edited September 18 by A N T I - Link to comment

Austin3035
You know what a feature I would like for them to add to community creations. The ability to download videos I would love to see that spot in community creations to create entrance videos.Cuz, i'm not great with the video creator Link to comment
A N T I -
They could start with bringing back the ability to view videos full screen within Create A Video if they love content creators so much. Link to comment
Crazyjk4
I've seen a lot say bring rtwm back but personally I've never seen the appeal outside of just being able to play with actual wrestlers. Aren't we still playing a linear story with no real changes or differences with each playthough? Link to comment
CROSS-Out
The amount of stuff I really want to see fixed and changed in the series is too much for a single post; especially since my focus would not be on WWE related content since i've stopped watching again (you can thank Triple H being the *censored*ing worst at PR this year for that). Suffice to say, I would want to see a lot of improvements that simply won't be done in one year and I honestly don't expect to ever be done. They've made it fairly clear where their focus is now and it's certainly not on the things that are important to me personally. Well.. who knows. Maybe AEW will take another swing at a game sometime.. hopefully a far better one. Link to comment
Crazyjk4
I wouldn't mind AEW having another chance at a video game tho I had issues with the first one besides the lack of content, I thought the gameplay was clunky at times and the pin button mashing sucked among other things. UPW looks kinda cool but I don’t think its gonna sway people just because its a new wrestling game plus judging by some things I heard it looks like the game isn't coming out soon and by then I may be okay with 2K going forward if they don't screw things up. CROSS-Out
Yeah if AEW wants another game they're really gonna need to start from scratch; possibly with a different dev; and not try the same things again. It had good ideas but man... it suffers from the less well thought out aspects. Link to comment

Can't say I know for sure; all i know is they need something else. And personally, don't go half-n-half on sim vs arcade. Pick a style and focus on it; if you want to go arcade then go full all stars, if you want to do sim then go all in and court the fans that feel turned away by the changes since 2K22. Most importantly, do not friggin rush it and do not announce it before it's ready. Link to comment
Rekka_No_Ryo
The WWE games needs ATLEAST 3 years inbetween each cycle. 1 to develop it 1 to beta test/feedback and then the following year release it. As we have seen the benefits of having more than a year off between cycles can help a game more than hinder it, as there is just too much stuff to work out in a wrestling game to do it yearly. sonnygunner
Rushing to release every year often results in products that are repetitive and lack significant innovation. WWE should focus on stability and player experience instead of chasing a release schedule. Link to comment

Roster and storyline-wise, there are so many changes to the product in a calendar year and so I can see why the games must release that way in order to keep up. They just sold a shit-ton of units as far as 2K25 is concerned so as long as the money keeps coming in, they have no reason to change things…unless it’s something drastic like the reasoning behind us never seeing 2K21. They've made it fairly clear where their focus is now and it's certainly not on the things that are important to me personally. Well.. who knows. Maybe AEW will take another swing at a game sometime.. hopefully a far better one. The thing about AEW is that everyone wants it to be WWE 2K or atleast a competitor right off the bat and no dollar amount is gonna make that happen. It takes years, decades even, of iterations…of experience…of seeing what works and what doesn’t…of seeing what the consumer actually wants vs what it doesn’t. I dunno whose fault it was that the game turned out the way it did but it definitely shouldve been left in the hands of the experienced. When Bryan Williams still worked with Yuke’s and we were all still dreaming of the endless possibilities of what this AEW game could be, people kept asking him questions like whether or not there would be a “Creation Suite”, which is a term exclusive to WWE 2K. Fortunately for us, WWE2K already exists and releases yearly and continues to add nice new touches and additions every year, particularly after the developer split of 2K20. These games have insane photorealistic graphics for the most part (they never get fire quite right imo), they have an insanely detailed character creation mode or modes if you include moveset creation and such, match types, story mode, the Island now, GM Mode…. I mean the kicker is that the best wrestling game on the market comes out every year and is arguably legendary every year if you really count your blessings and think about the fact that they’re doing something at such a high level in a genre that nobody else can even dream of competing in. Every decade seemingly there’s a game or two that comes along and tries to tell you that WWE games aren’t what wresting games should be and that THEY somehow possess the secret to turning the wrestling game genre on its head. Pro Wrestling X, TNA Impact, The Wrestling Code, AEW Fight Forever…none of those games got it right…if they even released at all…jury’s still out on TWC. I bet TWC will come out and people will crap all over it because it doesn’t have WWE-level depth in Create A Wrestler mode. I guess I’m just trying to say there IS no Captain Save-A-Hoe here. We already have the game we long so much for…we just come off as ungrateful sometimes when discussing what these games are missing. WWE games are the #1 by a large, extremely large margin, and I know it’s uncool to speak so positively about easily the #1 wrestling game and not pretend like there’s a such thing as competition in the market. AEW FF would need about 5 to 10 iterations before it even starts coming close and so they’re better off not even spending the money because WWE and it’s caw creators and modder community are always gonna make the better-looking AEW games. That’s not to say they didn’t do some things right and that were innovative. Edited September 26 by A N T I - Link to comment
A N T I -
Snoop Dogg has been in WWE Champions for awhile, as well as several video games over the years. Wonder when he’ll make his WWE2K debut. I think if there’s gonna be celebs, he’d be more well-received than Brunson and Haliburton. Shaq was decent. Also, with the exception of Ronda Rousey, has there ever been a female celebrity? What if it’s Cardi B? She very well could’ve been scanned at Summerslam.. Link to comment
Crazyjk4
You could kinda say Fire Pro kinda was somewhat a success even tho a lot of people still haven't played or probably know too much about it. Ultra Pro wrestling if it comes out sooner rather than later will probably be in that same ballpark, wrestling code I don't see coming out anytime soon with everything it's promising even making it in. I know some people want 2K to lose the license and have it go to EA (not me) but I'd be curious om how they go about making one just not replacing 2K. Link to comment
A N T I -
To be honest, I don’t consider Fire Pro or UPW anywhere near WWE 2K’s league because of the art style and lack of worldwide marketing, thus lack of public awareness. You have to be a diehard to know about those games it seems. Does switching publishers mean they have to switch developers? Is Visual Concepts exclusive to 2K? There’s only so many people in the world who are qualified and/or have experience in the pro wrestling game field at the highest level. Based on track record, I’d still try to scoop up as much of the Visual Concepts WWE2K team as I could, maybe with a different creative director. Why start from scratch when there’s a decade or so’s iteration of a perfectly fine wresting game already that they’d acquire the rights/license to? For all of our sake, I would hope it’s the exact same game going forward, otherwise we would be in for a rough couple of years. Edited September 26 by A N T I - Link to comment
A N T I -
If Raven were DLC for the next game, would you prefer his ECW/WCW look, his WWE look with the blonde dreads sort of look or his shirtless TNA look with all his tattoos? He probably couldn’t wear any kind of shirt that he actually wore in ECW/WCW, so that leaves WWE and TNA. Would you want the cool WWE look from SYM era at the expense of his tattoos from TNA era and beyond..? Edited October 3 by A N T I - Link to comment
Rekka_No_Ryo
Also the roster for 26 will suck with all of the releases.. and also the reason why alot of people dont like the island is they will start to use that an an excuse to not do things, like not make them cross platform (which was their excuse this year), not do this or not do that, because they had to focus on the island mode.. Link to comment
A N T I -
Release-wise, hate to be that guy but nothing of value was lost. I don’t think it’s fair either that the Island disrupted our cross-platform cross-gen Community Creations, but it’s 2025 and current gen has been out for 5 years. To cater to last gen any further than they do would hold these games back and do more harm than the Island imo. If they use anything as an excuse, remind them it’s 2025-2026 and people are still talking about games we played as kids as the GOATs. If their intention is to topple those old releases, they’d better spend a little less time talking and more time listening. Link to comment
