People are (still) trying to make the Island a bigger deal than it is. It's not the big creation suite killer some thought it would be. A small number of parts (mostly branded parts you'd expect to cost money) and parts made specifically for the mode need to be unlocked. You do not need to unlock/pay for the vast majority of parts. It's a big nothing to those not interested.

yeah these people are going overboard for no reason and it’s really irritating

honestly i’m not too upset about anything i’ve seen so far. we knew island would have limitations and those limitations aren’t as major as we thought they were. i know people want a better caw caa experience but if it’s basically the same as 2k24 with a few additions i’ll take that

It’s not for no reason. This year we’re in a position where new paybacks, a number of clothing parts and hairstyles are locked behind a shitty barebones mode that needs you to win around 60-100 matches to unlock one part without spending extra money. Not to mention the CC pool has been restricted, I get the idea that people on PS4 can’t be served forever but there’s some good creators on PS4 and not to mention PC, even ignoring the benefits of modded wrestlers bring.

I’ll admit it’s not much now, but it’s more than it was for 2K24, and I have no doubt we’ll have more to compromise next year and the year after. You’re deluded if you don’t think 2K wants to get to a point where the player bases is spending an extra $100-200 in tangential revenue every year, they’re not hiding it, they’re open about it.

The main thing about The Island that worries me is now this shitty mode is gonna be 2K's new baby they prioritize over everything else, every patch is gonna be improvements and fixes for The Island, while bugs in the more important modes go ignored. Thats what they did with MyFaction, every patch there was fixes and updates for that, now add in The Island and thats 2 useless modes they will have to focus on, and they will cause it makes them money....

And going forward with the series it will take priority for improvements with each release, taking time and resources away from other areas of the game.

It may not be a big disaster for caw and CC like we thought but in terms of taking away the teams focus from every other aspect of the game its gonna be a problem.

Honestly i could see MyFaction getting merged to the island in some way going forward, as for it taking up resources in the future in it's current state i don't think it'll take up that much resources since as is now it's really just an online hub sure they'll expand on it and probably make it bigger in size and give more challenges and stuff but what else are they going to do to it

what i mean by this is people were thinking the entire caw mode would be locked to the island at least for now people jumped the gun

This.

I haven’t played the mode and I’m actually curious to see what it brings but this is literally the gripes that I have in my head about the entire thing.

Im glad that some creators explained that you can unlock things WITHOUT spending money because I genuinely just thought that it would just be micro transaction HELL especially coming from people who played the mode in NBA and it’s pretty much hated the base.

but my question is….why does this mode…have to exist when we already have MyFaction and what is the real incentive to play it outside of curiosity?from what i’m gathering, the majority of the unlockables are cosmetic items and not superstars so what reason do I care to spend money to have my character wear jordan’s and a nike shirt in a wrestling game? or paybacks that’s already in if i just buy last gen and I can get modded content? Eh. Granted I was against my faction but once they started implementing personas it became my most played mode last year and obviously they’re trying to test the waters but i just feel like this isnt really the target audience for this? especially when we have modes like MyRise and MyFaction that pretty much are doing the same things this mode is doing but less cheaper?

but then again people paid $400 for a Roman Reign’s card last year that they ended up pretty much giving to us for free later on down the road so I guess some people would shell out for some jordan’s lol

That was kind of my thought to. Maybe The Island is just them soft launching a MyFaction/MyRise union once they work out the kinks tbh

Seen some more island videos, and the devs confirmed there's no plans to merge any single player modes like gm or myrise to it for the foreseeable future, there's stuff you can do offline the mode too like challenges and quests against the AI.

Yep. People thought the vast majority of creation parts would be locked. Those people were wrong. What's locked is the branded clothing (that we all knew would be locked) and a few parts that wouldn't exist if not for the Island. We also don't know how the paybacks are unlocked. The fact that we haven't seen a price on them leads me to think they might be some of the things that are unlocked in the Island story. I think there might even be a payback for each "region".

It's also funny that people on last gen think they should just get all of that stuff for free.

yeah my thing is it’s being locked out of last gen as an incentive to make people upgrade.

Hmm.

I try to avoid negativityand have no real issue with the island as if I got the game I don't have to play it.

It's just that games these days are expensive so I look at if it is worth the upgrade.

1) creation suite is essentially the same.

2) caa is unchanged.

3) universe mode has a few things that are interesting like tag teams can be associated, but again not that different.

4) I like the giant archetype.

5) I like that chain wrestling is back.

And that's pretty much it for the stuff I am interested in, and I just can't see a reason to leave wwe 2k24.
