I'll be honest. I don't have too much hope for this. But then, I don't know what I expected.

Don't get me wrong, I loved 2K22. Probably my most played WWE game in a very, very long time, maybe even more than 19 and I thought they did so, so much right with it.

But everything we saw and heard and read from 23 so far, looks, to the littlest details, just like 22, in a way other games would simply release a big 2.0 patch for it. The graphics, the engine, the mode descriptions like My faction being back, not even slightly reinvented, even the cards look exactly the same (I swear if you don't unlock the attires and models for every mode this time....). My GM also sounded like just getting a tiny improvement with the little that we know.

The main mode of the game also seems to be the same style again which bores me to death since forever. Sure it allows for certain attires and legends, but that's a positive and a negative in itself. Not even mentioning the fact that all these created attires, for no reason, never really come back for the next game, even tho they're created and exist. They could simply keep them added, but they rarely ever do and at best, put them into the creation mode. Watch Rey having 1 attire this year (plus what they use if he's in Cena's story mode) and see the rest vanishing into the past.

Plus, we know for a fact that that like 80% of the themes in the game are now downgraded to the new garbage remix versions from Def Rebel (and a lot of ugly renames of wrestler happened) and I am not looking forward to that.

Also, what slightly scares me, the game is out in under 2 months, Jesus, shortest marketing for the game ever? If it's out in 2 months, where was the cut off this time? I feel like A LOT of people who came back recently will be missing the game this time.

What I am looking forward to tho, are of course potential new wrestlers, especially NXT people like Breakker being confirmed, and I hope they go all out here on NXT guys, already confirmed legends like RVD or Kurt Angle, finally a new match with WarGames and the extended create an entrance mode to be back and I'm slightly looking forward to the announced improvements of the Universe mode. Tho, they lied about that for the last like 9 titles in the last 10 years I don't even start to believe anything here.

I am really mixed with what we know so far, it doesn't help that they're hitting us like a brick that it's just there in under 2 months (which means development is 100% finished and they are already working on the day one patch, nothing major can change from here on out anymore)

But of course I'm on board and I will be getting it, so let's just hope for the very best here and for a strong community with a healthy CAW output.

Their marketing has always been shit, usually they'll announce it months in advance and then say nothing until the final month. At least waiting till the last month to announce the game means they have very little time to waste so we should be getting more and more info in the upcoming weeks. Especially with the Rumble event announced

Oh that for sure, we should get news and videos and Screenshots non-stop from now on (kinda).

I'm a bit worried there is almost no discussion here so far. 😅

I mentioned in the previous thread that it sounds like people will be able to talk about what they saw/played from the Rumble event starting on Feb. 2nd, not sure what it'll entail exactly but we should get a few tidbits of info from that at the very least and hopefully some additional footage that 2K provided those people for their own videos.

for the record u are allowed to like whatever you like. Im sure i like tons of games that ppl would say suck.

that said. I reserve the right to think u are insane. And bemoan that my fave wrestling game has been turned into THIS. And instead of ppl revolting against it and forcing 2K  to do something about it.......everyone just lets it happen.

They got away with making 2k20. A glitchy buggy game that crashes a ton. They never fully fixed it. Its still broken to this day. And we let them do that.

2k22 stripped away most of the gameplay we know. They pumped the game full of  the Ultimate Team/MYTEAM microtransactions mode. Added tons of locked wrestlers to the mode.

and we let it happen.

i've said it before. WWE 2k22 is not a bad game. Other then the bugs and other things they don't fix. If it was called WWE 2K: FIGHT NIGHT and had a different art style and models that weren't realistic. I might like it (except the terrible a.i). But instead of making a side game to implement this brand new gameplay they took an existing franchise. With name value. And stripped it of its parts and converted it into something different. That is sneaky and disingenous.  Imagine u buy the Ghost of Tsushima sequel, and it doesn't play like the original game. But now all of a sudden it plays like Dynasty Warriors. And everyone was thrilled about it

I think anyone with a degree of sense understood that when Yukes quit the series, the game was going to change. And essentially start over.

When they did start over, I was more concerned the game was going to eject match types and an entire generation of moves, ala the dreaded 2K14-2K15 changeover that set the game back years....and only with 2K18 and 19 did they get anywhere close to that high mark. So when they didn't nuke it entirely I was cool with it.

Now, when I played 2k22 extensively I felt mixed. The models are mostly good, some excellent. Arenas are incredible. But losing advanced entrance hurt. Losing fatigued finishers hurt. Losing the classic gameplay hurt.

And yet, here i am mildly excited about 23 because at least I know what this will feel like. AEW FF is too young and the models do not impress me, at all. Wrestling Code, we'll be lucky to see it and play it by end of 2024.  FWIW, I don't mess with MyFaction (MTX is the devil), but like I said yesterday, if 2K lost the license, this game would be far far worse than it is now. So I'm content with it...provisionally.  I still want certain things back. Advanced Entrance I need to see how exactly that works before I get excited. I want better AI that doesn't go for the damn top rope. I want actual true movesets (Righteous stay the hell away from this). And I want a game that isn't crashing.

well looks like they got rid of Righteous, but unfortunately they brought back Bryan Williams. Two birds of a feather. Two passionate die-hard fans that have no understanding of movesets.

Trish Stratus is my favorite female in wrestling of all time. If she is confirmed in the game, that's awesome. If Trish is one of the legends, I would assume that Lita wouldn't be too far behind. I wouldn't be surprised if Lita was one of the ones that the fans complained about not having as a DLC. I can say the same thing for Paige too.

It warms my heart that people still get excited for this sheeit. 22 was the first game I'd touched since 18 and while I appreciated something new and the gameplay, which I hated at first, wasn't quiiiiiiiiite as off-putting as I expected it to be, there was just nothing pulling me back in to play it anymore. Usually, I don't get to that point until all the unlocks are done but it feels like a chore playing it to me. I believe I grabbed it in May and haven't completed (as close to what I call "completed" year to year) a single CAW since. Any previous year, even if I dread playing matches I'll at least play in create modes a bit, run a few Universe match sims, but I can't even do that. I turn the game on, get my daily My Faction log in reward, turn the game off, IF I even get that far

I love seeing what the community is able to do in the creation suites, working around the countless issues and limitations that these modes offer, always have and continue to appreciate that. You guys make amazing sheeit. This year I think I'll watch from the shadows like I normally do, but will ignore any potential sale later in the game's lifespan. From this point onward, I think I'm officially and indefinitely tapping out of the series. I've been so disconnected from wrestling, from the program down to this series that filled a huge portion of my gaming life, and the interest is so minute I think I'll be perfectly able to fight the urges to play any cool-looking sheeit this time.

Hopefully VC can continue to move the series forward, get a better handle of all the systems they've been struggling with, and bring the franchise back to one that's universally beloved across both the casual and hardcore bases. A game devoid of consistent system crashes, save file deletions, progress-nuking creation suite issues, and weird gameplay immersion-breaking bugs that take actions that should make perfect sense but for whatever reason decide "Naw son... not hapnin"

Oh, and deleted moves. Missing, possibly character-locked, less-than-a-year-old moves. Like... excuse me? Stop it

The one thing I’m liking that I’m hearing is that created wrestlers now are more closer to in game models. If they pull that off right it could be great for creations.

Hopefully they allow us to just apply a logo to trons for created wrestlers with some default movements to chose without having to make the created video and waste time with that.

Word Life Cena’s in the Deluxe Cover, but it’s weird we didn’t see a peek at that model in the Showcase trailer.

speaking of, one thing I didn’t like about Rey’s showcase was no entrances, though it seems it’s gonna be the same this year unfortunately

what it feels like reading that article

"we've added another Payback slot"

u mean ur readding what u removed

"we are expanding the stamina system, we are a SIMULATION of WWE"

no. WWE 2k19 was a Simulation of WWE. We had stamina and fatigue and realistic gameplay already. then u ruined it

"we are changing the pin system"

AGAIN???? Do we really need a 3rd pin system in a row?? Ppl were excited for button mashing to return, but then u mess that up by making it just 1 button. Nobody wanted to just press 1 button. We wanted the classic 2 finger button mashing we are all used to from back in the day.

Did i not call it like 10 months ago, that they are just going to slowly try to turn this back into where it already was. Its gonna take them 5 games to make the game good again. And undo all the stuff the new producer *censored*ed up.

Why make an arcade fighter, and then try to turn it back into a SIM wrestling game again? It makes no sense. Lean into what u are creating. Lean into the fighting, and combos and wackiness. Add juggling. exaggerated selling etc. These ppl have no clue what they are making

The ppl working on the game half of them probably want this new arcade fighter gameplay, and the other half want classic realistic gameplay. And that would explain why the new gameplay feels like this.
