AEW Show Discussion

Guest Fight Me.

Thought last night was another great show in a string of great AEW tv as of late.

A bit heavy on promos and vignettes, but they were all done very well. Plus, it's Wembley season, and the storytelling really helps out with the whole process of building hype for that show. Handful of good matches, and a ton of great promos and packages.

Also, having real music on a wrestling show is so refreshing when you get used to the garbage that WWE uses. The simple act of using 'Machine Head' for the Wembley bumpers and Green Day in a Danielson package truly makes the product that much more enjoyable. Any day I don't need to hear Jelly Roll or Def Rebel gives me life.

Bruv, she was "hired" to be a bodyguard. You know,to guard the body, not to be "outsmarted" by a face..

And it has happened at least twice now.

Mind as well have her turn on the C..E...O...C..E...O at all in now..

Because no face has ever outsmarted a brutish heel bodyguard in order to attack the heel they're guarding. Never happened before. Not in professional wrestling. Never. Not once.

It was a contract signing. Someone always gets the surprise jump on their opponent. Give it a goddamn rest.

Why are you obsessed with hating AEW and loving WWE? Generations has the patience but I don't.

Didn't take long for the default booker of the year to RUIN Kamille...

Way to go....

I can only hope that you are not the reason why this forum died. I have asked this question a MILLION times and nobody can give me a legit answer when I ask why do these AEW hating internet trolls follow AEW just so that they can throw shade and hate on it. It kills the whole forum to keep doing the same thing over and over again on this AEW portion of the forum.

Because it’s the internet and not everyone has the same viewpoint as you or me or whoever.

I wouldn’t say Kamille has been ruined, but I feel like AEW hasn’t been as effective at portraying her as an unmovable force as they should. I feel there have been a few moments where they’ve made her look weaker than she should have. I wanna say they’ve been small moments, though — but they’re starting to add up.

I'm not all that savvy with AEW over the past year or so but did Danielson say this was his last year wrestling? If so, who do you guys think ultimately defeats and retires him?

I believe he said that he had previously promised his daughter that he would retire as a full-time wrestler once she turned seven, which I think she now has - according to Wikipedia, she was born in 2017 - so unless he goes back on that, it seems like his career as a full-time wrestler will come to an end when he drops the AEW title, although I think he may still work the occasional, one-off match afterwards. And with WrestleDream in October taking place in Swerve's hometown of Tacoma, my guess is that the now-former champion will regain the title at that show.

The build for All Out is really good.

I hadn't considered Perry as a challenger for Bryan, but it makes sense on many levels. He's a great choice for someone who is just enough of a wildcard that people will second guess whether he could win or not. And he's a strong enough opponent that Bryan beating him will give him a decent boost to start his reign. The heat from Perry getting a title shot in Chicago will be amazing (the lack of heat would also be amazing, because it would show that even Chicago has moved past the drama and embraced him for his skill).

Then you have Christian as the next in line for a title shot whenever he wants it. And, again...is Christian going to beat Bryan and end his career? No...not likely at all. But also, no one expected Christian to get that title shot in the first place. So, again...a really good wild card opponent.

Then there's the fact that Perry won the TNT title when Copeland was forced to vacate it, and Copeland should be returning soon, and will probably want his belt back. So...do they somehow work all the angles simultaneously and have Copeland get involved in either the Perry title match or the Christian title match? Will Edge win his TNT title back? Will Edge and Christian feud for the TNT title as many people suspected they would to begin with?

Daniel Garcia is coming for MJF, and they need to pull the trigger with that. They can't let Max beat him here, or it makes the whole thing pointless. Garcia needs to win off sheer determination to get his revenge. That's the story everyone wants to see.

Swerve vs Hangman. What can be said? This is AEW's generational feud. This is their Rock vs Austin. When people want to talk about actual pillars of AEW...these guys are literally it. That's a huge ongoing feud, and it feels like it. No faces or heels...just two killers who have every reason to hate each other.

I can't stress enough, that this is exactly what I love about AEW. (All of the connectedness of the different feuds that potentially tie together into the same segments.) This is what disinterests me about WWE booking...everything is very singular. You have this feud over here and that feud over there. And no one who isn't booked in a very specific situation is even worth talking about, because they won't be a factor. - But, I want to see all of the connections that make things unpredictable. I want to think 10 steps ahead about who is moving which chess pieces where, and how that might lead to other things.

Just a whole lot of very promising storylines developing, IMO.

lol. No it doesn’t. It means a bunch of vocal AEW diehards are rooting for the guy who lost a little scuffle with the rival promotion’s top draw.

How would know when you’ve admitted you barely watch WWE now?

Tell me you aren't following Perry's actual rise in popularity without telling me...

He's a strong midcard champion on the show who consistently gets good reactions, and is doing solid work both athletically and artistically, on a weekly basis. - The "Perry has five seconds of fame because Punk shoved him" rhetoric is dead. It was dead a few weeks after it started, because Perry has done everything right to prove people wrong. If you don't see that...then you're being willfully ignorant.

A Chicago crowd vocally supporting Perry in Chicago would be a be deal. Chicago fans love Punk. I don't know what your angle is here (other than trolling)...but, if Perry doesn't get booed...and in-fact gets cheered IN CHICAGO, that is a big deal, and it absolutely shows that people have moved on and embraced him.

The ppl who think Perry is any good are his fans. The rest think he’s a joke because he’s a bland, minuscule child-looking man who is trying very hard to portray himself as a badass. A lot of the reaction I’ve seen doesn’t buy him as Bryan’s first opponent and they’re disappointed.

It’s not a big deal if he’s cheered or not. It’s an AEW PPV event. A lot Punk fans have moved on to watching him on... gee I dunno... WWE. It doesn’t matter if it’s in Chicago or not. It’s still an AEW show with AEW fans.

With MJF gone again, this promotion has become nearly unwatchable. It’s getting like NXT before I stopped watching that. There’s almost no one I’m interested in or care about. There’s no feud that really grips me. And the creative is crap. Hopefully MJF shows up sooner than later before my desire to watch the show completely depletes.

Have the explained why Moxley turned on Danielson? I keep upto date primarily through Youtube clips but all I have come across is overly vague lengthy speeches by Mox that dance around his actual reasoning? 'You work for me now' 'I hate what this place has become' 'I'm willing to do what others aren't'. What does he mean?? What was Danielson doing that the BCC weren't? Why did the rest of the group follow Mox and not Danielson?  Why did they try and murder him twice?

Yeah, he’s been rather cryptic/flowery about his motives for some reason. You would think it would easier to be straightforward and blunt about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it — but I guess not. Anyway, I think he turned on him because he thought Bryan’s approach in changing AEW/wrestling was too diplomatic and passive for him. Bryan’s way to enact change was put on “great” matches that would inspire others whereas Moxley wants to enact change by force.

Personally, these invasion/war with AEW storylines are getting pretty redundant if you ask me.
