Hayterade
That ending of SmackDown was stunningly and embarrassingly stupid. Cody handing the match to the Rock is even worse than Bret telling Hogan to go get Yokozuna. Link to comment
glennsoe
Wtf is going on in wweland? They had a ready made storyline.. Rock as soecial ref, cody wins the title and then Rock vs Roman at summerslam... This was beyond pointless.. Link to comment

It's like getting 2nd place. Cody winning in the rumble and not avenging his wrestlemania loss to Roman isn't a good look. There's no good way to dice it, he lost his spot to The Rock. The whole point was to do it against Roman, hell they even emphasized that he won the Rumble to get to Roman who was visibly against Cody winning because he considers him his only threat. Wtv he and Seth are going to cook it wont be as fleshed out as him and Roman would've been. Also if Cody wanted the WHC why didn't he challenge Seth before? Seth has been issuing challenges to everyone, why wait to win the Rumble? Everything about Cody going for the WHC makes him look dumb Edited February 3, 2024 by Golden Boy® Link to comment
T-Hell
Triple H is disappointing me greatly. Giving priority to a retired legend rather than a young, relevant star who's got an interesting and emotional storyline going with fans invested is something I would expect out of Vince, not Paul. What was the point of giving Cody a second Rumble win? How hard it is to make Rock vs Roman at night 1 and Cody vs Roman at night 2? By the time Cody finishes his goddamn story, no one is gonna care but him. Way to remove all the excitement of the road to Wrestlemania. Edited February 3, 2024 by T-Hell Link to comment
Senex Beast
.. ok yeah massive bad move and Rock vs Roman should have been saved for Summerslam Link to comment
BestInTheWorld614
Why do people think it set in stone that Cody will face Seth. Could just be a red herring. I think Cody gets screwed again at EC and then Roman will main event both nights of Mania. Now I think Reigns needs to beat Rock night one and then Cody wins night 2. There you covered the loss of the Punk spot, Seth faces someone else, you get Rock/Reigns, Cody still honors the Rumble victory, and Cody finishes the story. All Cody said was he moved the goal post, that could just mean he moved it up, he never confirmed going after Seth. Edited February 3, 2024 by BestInTheWorld614 Link to comment
Generations
I don't even hate what happened as much as other people seem to. I literally accepted this when the rumors started about Rock, months ago. I never thought Cody/Reigns was going to happen...not even when he won the Rumble a second time. The thought was just never in my mind. I don't agree with the booking. I think you could have had Cody dethrone Reigns...and then the Mania match could be Rock/Reigns WITHOUT the title. I think it's typical WWE "all or nothing" booking, which I've grown to loathe. But...the stuff that happened on SD? Doesn't bother me. It was a foregone conclusion. I don't see The Rock actually winning the match at Mania. I think this just makes it obvious that they intend to keep building Roman's record. It's definitely the only chance they'll ever have to do it. It will never happen again. So...how long do they run with that? I highly doubt Rock wins. Rock can take that loss...Cody can't. So, that's why he doesn't get the match yet. Edited February 3, 2024 by Generations Link to comment

And to make things worse this is self inflicted, they had countless opportunities to dethrone the guy while keeping him top dog enough to have a tribal fight against The Rock yet they fumbled it. As for Cody, him saying he wont finish the story at Mania is what triggered people the most Edited February 3, 2024 by Golden Boy® Link to comment

It's so fascinating how they managed to make people despise something that they actually wanted to happen previously just because of the poor timing they chose to execute it. This is what triggers me the most, the fact that we know Dwayne isn't winning and that they seemingly intend to keep Roman's now more than bland stupid record going. The reign ran its course months ago. Link to comment
Senex Beast
I've wanted to see Rock vs Roman for a long time now and at Mania but yeah wrong timing and definitely Batista 2014 all over. I'll also be very surprised if Rock actually goes over because Roman's..Reign is definitely just going to keep going for a long while more. If not Cody nor Rock then who and when? They're going Andre or Bruno with Roman!? Link to comment
Crazyjk4
My biggest issue with Rock vs Roman is that it doesn't necessarily need the title, it's already the biggest match and it's not like they need it for to sell or hype up Wrestlemania at all. Are we supposed to have another year of Roman as champion? And why at the expense of Cody and the story they've built up over two years. Nobody looks better coming of this. Link to comment
Lumen
I like what they're doing with Rock and Roman, the timing is a little debatable, especially considering Rock just joined the TKO board. I'm willing to ride it out and see what happens. Is there legit heat between Rollins and Reigns? These promos lately they are just spitting fire. Link to comment
Senex Beast
Yeah that's very true. Cody could beat Roman at WM and a pissed off Roman at the next Smackdown could say he'll prove he's still chief and head of the table and be dominant again even though lose chances at the title again and claim he still leads his family or something and just set set up Rock vs Roman at Summerslam and it would still be a huge match and at s top wwe PLE thst is considered summer's WM Link to comment
Generations
Not me casually hoping Stardust returns, just because I genuinely like that character. Lol Link to comment

Senex Beast
I wouldn't be surprised if Cody leaves after Mania if he loses to Seth or when he loses the universal title and goes to mid card Link to comment
