I don't see why another superstar should have control over the briefcase that someone else won.

Because Rhea is always one step ahead, and not-so-subtly the leader of Judgement Day. There are plenty of logical reasons why that could be the case. Priest presents himself as the muscle or enforcer of the group. While Rhea manages literally ALL of the behind the scenes workings of the group. It makes as much sense as a manager getting their client a title shot or anything else that managers do in pro wrestling.

If we are to assume that their is legal stuff to be handled with every single championship match or booking arrangement, then that is especially true for the briefcase, IMO. And Priest is the exact type of person who wouldn't want to deal with any of that himself.

Also...who already stopped Priest from cashing in about a half dozen times? Rhea. We saw her stop Priest from using the contract time after time, while we simultaneously saw her speaking with Drew backstage. The timing fits for all of it. Especially with them finally bringing McDonough into the group. Priest finally gave an inch and grew to accept McDonough, which is the perfect sign of weakness for Rhea to carry out the rest of her plan. Priest has been hotheaded and difficult to work with for months...and Rhea is nothing if not practically minded.

It makes all the sense in the world for Rhea to see Priest as a threat and replace him with Drew. Especially after he said he was the leader of Judgement Day on Raw this week. It's the perfect setup for his downfall, and stealing his briefcase on top of kicking him out of the group would make Ripley appear that much more intelligent and dangerous. Calculated, scheming, etc. Plus, the ability to screw over someone who trusted her...which is the coldest shit of all.

The MITB gimmick is stale to me. Just have the winner get a title match at Summerslam. Then the MITB match/PPV will mean as much as the Rumble

Yeah...I agree, MitB has been stale. Usually a completely squandered opportunity. Which is exactly why I'm suggesting that they actually do something intriguing with it and push the boundaries of what people expect is possible. The case has never been stolen from someone via a legal loophole. Someone has never been screwed out of their opportunity by someone they trusted.

I agree they've been definitely teasing a Priest kick-out for a while now (which I find stupid since he's big and has shown little tolerance for bullshit, but whatever..), but I still think the briefcase shenanigan will hurt the match type even more. Like, what's the point on being invested in the match or excited about who wins, if they make our mindset be "well, the cash-in is gonna fail or the briefcase gonna be stolen, so who cares".

Also, I think that would salt the injury of the fans who rooted for LA Knight to win the briefcase.

But yeah, a cold beatdown like they did to Edge is probably bound to happen, and maybe the plans is for Priest to turn face and join LWO or something.

Priest with LWO is an unexpected turn that I would welcome. Hadn't thought about that.

I'm all for Priest joining LWO after Judgement Day. Especially with Rey injured...and it would be direct opposition to Dom, plus he already has ties to Bad Bunny, which would make the Bad Bunny/LWO/Priest connection work. So...yeah, I like that a lot.

How I would book the Drew/Judgement Day situation...

  • Drew helps Judgement Day at Survivor Series, and they win.
  • After Survivor Series, we learn that Rhea offered Drew the MitB briefcase to join.
  • The MitB offer is legally binding and Rhea pulled all the strings.
  • Priest gets beat down by Drew and the other members of JD.
  • Drew goes on to win the World Championship by using the MitB briefcase.
  • Priest wins the Royal Rumble and faces Drew for the World Championship at Wrestlemania.

I've been thinking about this, and since Seth is in the match, they could pull this all off in that very show, if they win. It could be a long post-match segment just like the Sami-Roman stuff at Royal Rumble.

JD wins the match, and since Seth is all beat up, Priest tries to cash-in, but the referee starts being like "well, I'm sorry but it turns out this is no longer yours" or something like that, then he turns around and BOOM, claymore, followed up by the whole group's beatdown. They reveal that the briefcase now belongs to Drew and successfully cashes in. Would make for a hell of an ending to a popular PLE, honestly.

On the other hand, I don't see the faces losing if a certain someone is indeed returning as their fifth member.
