Are they not allowed to say Walls of Jericho or something ? They’ve been calling the traditional Boston Crab the Liontamer and it’s really annoying to me. He’s not even doing the variation to warrant the Liontamer name.

That ending man ??, feel bad for them but god damn that was hilarious. The wrestlers and commentary selling it like the blitz  made all the more cringe. Botchamania HoF for sure.

They should of called an audible on it, have Kenny laugh it off as a prank or something thus pissing off Kingston. The fact that Kingston sold it like he'd been hit by a plane is just unfortunate.

Some positives, I thought the Sting match was very well done, best he's been in years. Although I can understand people being underwhelmed by the big reveal, I'm hyped to see the Instant Classic in AEW. He's forever been undervalued by WWE and his TNA run was great. Looking forward to seeing what he brings.

I'm sorry, that was crap. I pretend so much more from a Company that is trying to be legit competition wise with the WWE with 3/4 ppvs per year....

They just come across as amateur WWE. From production to booking to producing matches. It’s amateur hour. It’s been like this since the beginning and will most likely continue to be this way with the management they have running it.

I like Tony Khan but he shouldn't have even considered doing the match if he didn't think there was any good way to end it except blowing the ring up. He was basically like "oh well, might as well at least just have it be dumb fun".

Again, this wasn't really a new concept. The exploding death match is supposed to blow up. And it has been done pretty convincingly in the past. This was just...bad. It's honestly inexcusable in how bad it was. Like...I could have made a more convincing setup than what was used. It almost did seem intentionally bad....because, how can you put sparklers out there? You know what you're buying. You had time to test some of that pyro. Cody Rhodes uses more actual pyro in his entrance.

But, yeah...this wasn't a Tony Khan idea. These matches traditionally end this way.

... I'm sorry, I don't know if you're joking but this is a really silly take. "Cast away"? Christian may not have done too much in WWE compared to his fellows but to call him just a WWE reject is beyond silly.

Wwe cast away is perhaps the wrong word. Wwe cast off is a much better word, thank you for letting me know.

He looked good at the rumble, and at 47 he's the youngest of  AEW's latest 3 big signings (Show is 49 and Sting is 61) but I can't see the long term benifits for aew here.

My post was also the results of it not being anyone "bigger" than Christian due to all the hype which I surely fell for with my expectations.

Last but not least, the ppv itself was ok to good but the last 10 seconds of the main event was an embarrasment but gave some good tweets after.

Y'all don't take him seriously, dude has never once posted a positive opinion that I've seen.

If this is directed at me,which I believe it was than you're somewhat wrong.

I've praised both Jack Evans and most woman wrestlers there whilst shaking my head at the bucks and omega (prior to joining up with Don Callis) - the bucks are still a joke and theire "feud" with ftr was a joke from the get go.

So for you to say I've never posted a positive opinion is dead wrong my friend.

I say it's 90% negativity from me Sir..

So, finally finished it...and yeah it was really neat.

-Maki Itoh is money, god damn is she entertaining
-Had to skip the opener sadly because i cant stand Jericho currently, his politic views and stuff make it impossible to enjoy stuff he is in.
I know that sounds dumb to some, but i cant help it
-Battle royal was good, enjoyed it
-Womens match super strong and well done, really liked it
-The next two matches were fine, but could easily have been dynamite matches...nothing really super strong
-Ladder match could have been a bit rough, but otherwise super neat
-Christian the big signing...eh.
They put themself in  a corner imo, only a lesnar or Punk would have meet the expectations.
But i like christian and thats why i like it.
Also it reminds me off the time in TNA before i stopped watching, christian, booker, angle, steiner etc...good times.
-The Street fight was really good.
The camera work, location etc was entertaining as hell...this is how i can deal with Cinematic matches
Nothing too over the top but also not to simple.

-Main Event was fine, but way behind expectations.
It was way too soft imo, i expected it to feel more aggressive and harder.
Also the explosions all around were weak as hell.
If it was all done for story purpose, then thats fine.
But if not, they messed up badly and did a super weak match there...because what should have made this match so spectacular, wasnt at all that.
A few nice spots, but overall not really strong.

All in all a super enjoyable event that like many wwe ppvs, messed up at the finish line with a main event that hurts the overall show quite a bit...unless of course, its storywise done like it was.

Christian is cool. I don't have anything against the guy. It's just funny to me if Christian is Tony's favorite wrestler.

Honestly...this was just a case of the hype being too great for what it was. Christian definitely IS a Hall of Fame caliber star. But when you drop words like that, other names will always come to mind. I would have liked for it to be Kurt Angle...maybe seen Team Angle vs Team Taz (with Kurt in a limited managerial role)...I don't know. I guess Christian will do something with Jericho...and/or Matt Hardy. He has history with both. Just doesn't strike me as super "necessary" for him to be in AEW. But, I'm fine with it...and interested in what he ends up doing.

I know the concept and have seen some of those matches. I meant that Tony Khan seems to think that it's either fully blow up the ring or nothing. There's so many things he could have done! At least collapse the ring like wwe does occasionally or have pyro and smoke at ringside than sparklers on the ring posts and a few black cat fireworks under the ring.

I thought they did the dud like that on purpose. Tony Khan seems confused on what fans were expecting besides a full blow up.

Still disappointed Christian and WWE couldn’t come to terms on a deal. For once I rathered him there than in AEW. I just wish they handled this whole thing better. I know the announcement tease bought them buys, but I wouldn’t have done it at all with how big they hyped it up. Would’ve just let him walk out as a complete shock. Guarantee the reaction would’ve been much better because absolutely no one would’ve expected it after he was in the Rumble in January.

Also extremely shocked no one in the audience could tell it was him from the countdown. It literally was basically the same as his TNA theme.

All in all, I’m excited to see what he does in AEW. My first introduction to Christian was actually as Christian Cage in 2007 during his TNA main event run believe it or not. So I didn’t see his run as a tag/mid carder til later. Full circle for me.

I also got the TNA Genesis 2005 DVD where he debuted as a gift around the time I got into wrestling which is another ironic coincidence.

I think the ending has work written all over it. They made such a big deal about Omega being the one building it with the videos and blue prints. Kingston doesn’t look like a total idiot for selling it bc he doesn’t know if there will be more after the initial pyro.(kayfabe). I just think people get worked up for no reason.

the worst thing for me is that they seem too self indulgent to notice it.

to me, this is a sure path that leads to TNA v2.

Did I imagine this or wasn't a tag team debut promoted for the Casino Royale at one point? I was more looking forward to that than the "Hall of Fame worthy" signing.

I think you imagined that? The surprises teased were the signing, ladder match slot, and last minute Britt Baker partner.

Bro...he passed out. It would have been fine if he lifted his head and looked around like "that was it?"...but he *censored*ing died. Lol

Yeah this 'work' excuse is pityful. That could of potentially worked as Kennys incompetence... IF Kingston hadn't literally died from it. C'mon now, it's clearly a botch and a very bad one at that.

Honestly, I think people that missed out on Christian Cage's NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship run don't really get how goated he was at the time. All timer stuff.

I'm also disappointed the crowd didn't recognize his TNA theme and didn't pop til his name came up.
