Watched the video of the event and I'm happy they are pairing up with Yukes and the No Mercy director. Hope they create a great game so that 2K will have a competitor that will make them create a better WWE game which is a win win for us wrestling fans.

I just hope they don't do the No Mercy entrance route like TNA Impact did in the past. It's already 2020 we need full entrances.

Also happy to see intergender matches. Hoping this makes WWE reconsider that in videogames again (but I really doubt it).

And I also noticed that they used the same Jericho Fake tattoo textures in WWE games in there. Nothing wrong with it, just something funny to see.

I hope this game gets released same time as WWE 2K games, to put pressure on 2K to create a better game. But I hope it will not be released next year, since rushing the game might cause this game to have lots of bugs like 2K20. If they are going to release it on 2022, have it released same month as WWE 2K23.

No Mercy probably did it do technology restraints. TNA did it because they were lazy, ran out of time, or both. Hope they go all out with the Revolution set entrances.

Maybe for No Mercy, it was time constraints too. Since the ring entrances are in the game you just need to use Gameshark. I agree with TNA, the game is fun but it lacks so many things to make it a great game. Hoping AEW we will see so much content in gameplay and entrances. Considering AEW Roster is not that big they have a lot of time to focus on other aspects of the game.

This just crossed my mind. Since Yukes is developing the game I hope all the moves from WWE 2K games are imported to the AEW game. They still did most of the mocap in the past so there's a chance that they still have those assets and have it in game and there's no copyright with moves only the name. It would be cool to see a lot of moves incorporated in AEW's first game to be used for CAW and Wrestlers in game.

Also, if there is a PC game there is a huge chance we could extract wrestlers model and import it to previous Yukes WWE Games or vice versa. Unless they change the format. We'll just have to wait and see. And of course, I would not mind sharing the textures again here when the game is out. :)

Well, interesting.

The Casino game doesnt interest me, especially since we havent seen anything really on that.
The smartphone game looks quite early, i hope the animations and all get better before it releases, but otherwise neat.

But its all about the big guy, the big console game.
At first i of course was a bit unhappy since i hoped for a real hyper realistic simulation.
However, that soon vanished, also because i always like this overdrawn action figure look...like it in battlegrounds, allstars, legends of wrestling etc.
Im not sure we saw in-engine material, it had this cgi look.

Either way, the models look neat, we have seen worse jerichos in wwe simulations, so yeah.
Animations arent super over the top so i kind of think we get some kind of mix, which i would love.
Overdrawn characters in a no mercy style gameplay...would be cool.
We know yukes can do good and having someone who worked on no mercy on board, can be really good.
We will see, im hoping for something like the Day of Reckoning games.

Most important to me either way, is that the gameplay is fun, i have a lot of modes and match types...and that the create mode gives me a lot of freedom.
We will see, its hard to say how far they are with this...but im excited.

I don't think they'll be indicative of the final product, they were very clearly pre-rendered.

Yeah, but ultimately if it’s the same art style with the final being even more polished and refined, I’d still be fine with it. After watching back a few more times definitely comes off pre-rendered.

Im absolutly fine with the art style, like some pointed out...this could be good for a Caw mode if the created wrestlers dont look so out of place like in the 2k games sometimes.
A stylized overall look, makes it easier for created content to fit into that.

The last few wrestling games that people overall enjoyed, were games that didnt had a super realistic look.
Allstars, Fire Pro, Battlegrounds are all game with stylized art design, and yet people enjoyed the hell out of them in terms of gameplay.

2K19 is still god like. That was imo how simulation can be done right. It had it faults but overall huge step up from 2K. I’m really not seeing why everyone think it looks like All Stars. It really looks how No Mercy would look this generation. No Mercy models were thick and blocky with realistic faces. Again assuming it’s not a pre-render like Brandon stated we really just have to wait and see if that look of the trailer is what we expect for the finished product. But to me if it’s that the end style with an even more polished Iook then it really would be lovely. I mean hey, I didn’t think I could love Fire Pro World because of the sprites and art style but I love it. I’m open to any art style at this point as long as the game is fun, delivers, and makes me want to play it over and over and over.

An important thing that is a must is a ton of moves. TNA, AAA: Heroes Del Ring, WWE All Stars and WWE Battlegrounds all have limited movements. I am expecting accurate movesets but it's going to be interesting since the roster will be smaller than the wwe2k games plus those also have a ton recycled from past games.

Speaking of moves, It seems they will be animated than mo-capped, which is old school and a nice alternative to WWE 2k's moves. Hikaru Shida tweeted that they researched her moves and gave her not just any Falcon Arrow for her finisher but her's!

The casino game is not for me and the mobile game looks too basic but I'm totally excited about the Next Gen game for sure! :)

Knowing that yukes is behind it I'm partially totally happy because it will probably have a caw editor that gets me into cawing again but on the other side I'm a bit afraid of all the bugs we had to endure in their earlier games for sure.

What I already love are the graphics and the intergender matches that seem to be possible! :D

I must admit I’m pretty hyped to see what this game has to offer. I’ve watched about every AEW games event reaction video on YouTube to see people’s takes on it all, I’ve gone back and watched Kenny Omega vs Xavier Woods, New Day vs The Elite playing Street Fighter, i mean I’m just about full fledged hyped for what’s to come. I’m hyped for the wrestling code too. I’m hyped for 2K22 too because I have a good idea where the outline of that is going. The wrestling game genre is about a year away from being amazing.

Which reactions are the best and most positive?

Most were positive. The only uncertainty seems to lie in the model animation style. The Fat React/Nerd Coalition is probably my favorite underrated reaction guy ever since his 2K19 trailer reaction. I think the usual suspects... DenkOps, Pulse, etc, had the most solid overall outlooks. But most of the videos I saw were positive about what the game could be.

I personally HATED having to grapple before you did everything instead of going straight into moves, so when TNA iMPACT! came out, it was a breath of fresh air, and then WWE games stole that and made it 10x better. I do hope the gameplay doesnt rely heavily on a grappling system. That’s where I hope Yuke’s didn’t completely abandon past philosophies in search of the new No Mercy or even Def Jam Vendetta, which is what the art style reminds me more of.

I'm of two minds about Williams. The guy very clearly always had a passion which I appreciate, however he also actively took part in THQs overhyping and lying.

I will never forget the time when, during a hype event for SvR 2011, an interviewer pointed out the strange lack of moves and inaccurate movements which he responded by saying, paraphrased because its been years, "oh that's just because not all the animations from 2010 have been converted to the predator tech, don't worry they'll be in the final product". Lo and behold, something like 400 animations total were just gone from the final game, never to return.

I also have had questions regarding his eye for quality in terms of move animations in the past. There seemed to be times where he wasn't willing to say "nah that didn't look great, can we try again?".

But all that is just the cynic in me, hopefully he's a valuable asset to the project.

I dunno why he couldn’t just say they’ve been mocapping. My memory certainly isn’t that long with what Bryan did or didn’t say, but I remember he was one of the “three stooges” back when an application was first developed that allowed us to texture. I forget who the other 2 were. He got a bad rap for a long time, and for what? Things that were ultimately out of his control?

I respect that he definitely made a point of keeping people’s expectations low for this game, as far as any kind of Creation Suite goes. I don’t expect much to be honest, on the creation front, so I’ll be surprised if we get something actually usable. I’m just expecting a great gameplay and a fun career/story mode. I’m expecting something as bare bones as TNA iMPACT!, so if we get something better than that, it’ll be a pleasant surprise.

The other two were Corey Ledesma and that absolutely *censored*ing moron Aubrey Sitterson, the dumbass who claimed people reporting the pin count bug were just "playing the game wrong".

And Stephenson. My god the BS he kept spewing regarding the colour wheel and no transparency for logos etc.

1. It was due to an oversight
2. They were removed because of nude CAWs online

Like, seriously? Anyway hopefully Bryan "The Lyin" Williams has learned from his past mistakes (hopefully not make all new ones)

Im either way on that, part of me does like the grappling, it takes you way back to the no mercy days and the key idea of wrestlers locking up before performing moves.
Of course it takes away a bit from the flow and natural feeling, but i can live with and without it.

To be fair, considering what we "know" about how the whole partnership with yukes, thq, 2k, wwe etc was...wouldnt surprise me if down the line the higher ups stopped them from adding those.
Was he the one who overlooked the quality of the moves? yeah then im a bit unsure.
Some of the animations in the past were really rough, but when i look at 2k20 and how some of the dlc moves have this weirdly fast speed etc...i dont know where the problem is there.

Its really hard to say because we dont know how difficult it was to work they way they had to.
Cant be good when people with experience work on it, but could hinder the project too.

Oh man, i totally forgot about them...oh the dark, so very dark days.

What I found great in the interview is that they will be selfpublishing.

So no company like THQ, 2K or similar ones will have a say in the product at all.

This way Yukes and AEW can put everything in they want to without restrictions. :)
