King RyderFan
Quote Officials are desperately searching for ex-WWE superstar Shad Gaspard -- after he went missing during a swim at Venice Beach on Sunday with his 10-year-old son. Gaspard and his son were among a group of swimmers caught in a strong rip current around 4 PM -- with lifeguards racing into the water to pull everyone out. Gaspard's son was rescued -- but the 39-year-old pro wrestler has not been located. One official working with the L.A. Fire Dept. told media they believe the 39-year-old "did submerge." Divers were sent to scour the area. Helicopters were searching from above. One witness at the scene tells us ... when lifeguards raced into the ocean, Gaspard directed rescuers to help his son first, which they did. During the rescue, we're told another big wave crashed down on Gaspard -- and that's the last time he was seen. We're told the photo of Shad officials are using in the search (included in this post) was taken earlier Sunday, before the incident. Shad was at the beach that day with his wife and their 10-year-old son. Gaspard was a big star with WWE back in the day -- making up one half of the tag team Cryme Time with his partner, JTG. Outside of pro wrestling, Gaspard made headlines in 2016 when he stopped an armed robbery in Florida. In fact, Shad came on the "TMZ Sports" TV show to talk about it and couldn't have been a nicer guy.

.Nëro
The search for former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard has been called off by the US Coast Guard and LAPD. The 39-year-old went missing whilst swimming at Venice Beach, California with his 10-year-old son and a group of others on Sunday afternoon He got pulled out to sea by a strong rip current and has now been presumed dead after local authorities were unable to locate him. Gaspard is reported by The Sun to have heroically told lifeguards to save his son first, with the youngster being rescued in good condition and without needing any hospital treatment. But whilst trying to save Gaspard from the rip current, he was pulled further out to sea prompting hours of investigations from helicopters and divers from the US Coast Guard. Their efforts to find him have proved unsuccessfully leading to the search being called off. Although the search is never officially given up until a body is located, the case is now set to be downgraded in status with the wrestler presumed dead. Pono Barnes, a lifeguard specialist with the Los Angeles Fire Department, said: "That group was stuck in one of the rip currents and were swimming just north of the lifeguard tower. "That's why lifeguards were able to get there so soon, but unfortunately, one did, however, submerge." Gaspard made his WWE debut in 2003 before making his final television appearance on Smackdown in 2010. The 6ft7 performer was best known for his stint as part of WWE tag team Cryme Tyme between 2006 and 2014. Tributes have poured in from the WWE universe since news of his disappearance broke, with Kofi Kingston writing on Twitter: "@Shadbeast ‘s family appreciates all the love, support, and concern through this horrible ordeal. "At this time they are not ready to make any public or official statements to any media outlet And ask all to respect their wishes."
