Eh, poking fun at them is topical I guess, but I remember a time when we prayed for 2K or EA to get the license to these games. 2K19 showed what was capable when everything sort of starts to click, and even that had loads of room for improvement.

Who in the blue hell prayed for EA?! God no. Didn't want those *censored*s getting their hands on the WWE License.

Yeah if EA got the license, these games would be monetized up the ass. Even if I have grown less and less fond of 2K over the years, it's still a better option than EA by miles

Yeah. Universe Mode would be like FUT. "Want Legends? PAY UP SUCKERS!"

Football Ultimate Team, if I had to guess... in EA's NFL game, it's called Madden Ultimate Team - basically collecting cards to field an ultimate team of players throughout the histories of the game.

Those 'MLB: The Show' games have a similar mode, but they titled it: Diamond Dynasty.

Let me break it down guys.

Building a beautiful home on top of shitty foundation is a recipe for disaster. However, in order to rebuild that foundation, some of the house has to come crashing down. Unfortunately, 2K is contractually bound to have people living in that house while they're trying to fix the foundation, which means that house is crashing down around people and 2K is desperately trying to keep it together.

The point of my metaphor is to achieve what is needed, they needed more than 1 year of dev time. They needed at least a year and a half, ideally 2. But, because 2Ks higher ups and WWE I'd the epitome of greed, they dont get that full 2 years. They get one.

It sucks, it blows, and I vehemently agree the game should not have been released in this state, but VC were quite figuratively stick between a rock and a hard place.

I usually share your opinions but I fully disagree on this one.

The problem there was no that they had only one year, the problem was that their overconfidence and their unprofessionalism that caused them to focus on the wrong end of things produced all this mess.

The reason why the foundation is crashing down is because instead of making sure the foundation is stable, they let it be as it was and tried to add new things (originals) and change things that didn't need a change (shared Image uploader between wwe2k19 and 2k20, changed controls, changed graphics among other things).

Would they had focused on the core of the game and only updated the roster by adding maybe the female Career mode as a extra (it is seriously a copy of the male one anyway with other models involved), all this wouldn't had happen!

And instead, the series would begin to stagnate. The thing that absolutely killed the THQ games in the end above all others. They may not have been implemented well due to, in my opinion, the time frame (and having to bring in new coders not familiar with Yukes' mess) but if they just repeated 2K19 over and over then all that good will it earned would turn to sour milk. Yes 2K20 is a mess, but at least its a mess that 2K can hopefully eventually fix up and start moving forward with. A shite car that still moves and can be fixed up is infinitely better than a beautiful car that never drives at all IMO.

That all said, I'm hopeful that this experience will act as something of a scare tactic both for 2Ks higher ups and WWE itself. They play an equal part in this menagerie of *censored*iness as does the code grunts.

Also, not sure if you've played the career mode because I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "its a copy of the male one".

Of course this is just how I see things, you're obviously free to disagree and its nice to disagree without turning it into a pissing match.

I'm not pissing on anyone! :P

Just having a conversation thats all! :)

I doubt the series would stagnate if they used the Transition year to get the core of the game to be solid under their flag before they add modes like the originals and to Change Things that didn't need a Change like the ones I mentioned before.

they wanted to be extra and were too arrogant to watch yukes over their shoulder in the time they were together so they can understand the codes base. Instead they let them work on the previous title and then immediately throwed them out and took over only to stand in front of codes as huge as a mountain without understanding even the smallest part of it (from what I read whereelse last month).

All the modes we had in wwe2k19 could had been taken over and the graphics and controls could had been kept the way they were last year (which also looked better if you compare them to the ones we have now).

Changing working things only so they can put their stamp on them and say "they are ours" without understanding the core they are build on was what broke their neck.

Focusing on a dlc like the "originals" so they can say "we have a dlc, give us the extra money" that was extra bugged and offers less for the Money then Prior dlcs was another bad decision cause they could had done all of this next year as a Addition to a proper other dlc.

I really hope they got humbled a little bit after the Backlash they got and saw these mistakes as a "learning experience" so they will know better from now on and act differently in the future.

The saddest thing about this situation is that it will probably stifle creativity in the future more than anything else. Like...the "originals" stuff isn't inherently terrible. The "MyPlayer" mode is actually fun. BUT...with everything that went so wrong with this game, it all adds up. It becomes a matter of "why did they put so much effort into adding this nonsense, while simultaneously failing at core gameplay"...and I really see some of the public outcry in that regard just keeping them from ever trying anything new or different again. And in my opinion, that's kind of a shame...because I don't think the two aspects are tied as closely as people think they are.

I mean...I'll say it...I actually do like WWE2K20. For all of the broken mess that it is, there's some genuine charm here that is just hard to explain. I think, in a sense, it's somehow more frustrating because you can see that it could have been a lot better.

I'm right there with ya... as flawed as it currently is, I've been enjoying it.

WWE wouldn't be happy with a games as a service game. There'd be wrestlers who would still be in the game after leaving five years earlier and if they patched to remove said wrestlers people would be pissed.

Plus I don't think the WWE brand is strong enough for that. It would mostly be the hardcore rather than the casuals who get the years of DLC. They'd make less money. Not to mention they'd have to match the quality of five year old models etc eventually, intentionally making shitter quality stuff so as to not stand out.

I can't deny that even though i'm finding the story ridiculously mean spirited towards the male character, i'm really enjoying career mode. and thank GOD they finally stopped with the goddamned backstage brawls and handicap matches.

I really don't understand why they made such a loser out of him. I get that they wanted Red to have a "strong" personality but they didn't have to do it at the expense of making Tre a complete and utter butt monkey.
