they just gotta stay on top of it. like if theyre gonna do this they have to commit to it, otherwise drop it. be careful with booking and just tell good stories that the numbers dont show by themselves to maybe explain why someone like idk Darby who doesnt have as many wins as someone like MJF would get a title shot over him. sounds easier said than done but im hoping they thought this through long-term.

If they say it's gonna be by the numbers, then I don't think they would even do a story to explain why someone like Darby is getting a title shot. He would legitimately need to win a bunch of matches in a row to build momentum to a shot. That could be a story in itself.

Also, I'm guessing they will say that it's a monthly ranking system or something. Like...someone could have a record of 20 wins and 3 losses...but if all three of those losses were in a row, in a single month...they wouldn't get a title shot over someone who had a record of 5 wins and 5 losses...just because those 5 wins happened in a row.

Yeah...I'm thinking that's how it will go.

Also, Kenny should beat Mox.

The one thing that bothers me about Cody is he is the American Nightmare. Suppose to be the polar opposite from his dad but is a massive face....and not a good one.

Dusty Was the common man. Cody's gimmick is the Prince that was promised. He built his Kingdom and he rules fairly so far.

Characters have more to them than a face and heel disposition. From a kayfabe perspective Cody is everything Dusty fought against. It just happens that he's still well liked

I think the "American Nightmare" name can be open to interpretation. I don't think that shouts "heel" at all.

It's just saying "the American dream is a lie, and this is the reality". (Not about Dusty's legacy...but about the actual "American Dream"). He can do that as a face just the same, IMO.

I don't think Jericho would drop it so soon. He's gotta hold it into 2020 IMO. As it stands, the only face I would actually want to see take the title from him in the near future would be Kenny, and he seems to be turning heel. I'm down for PAC or Mox as champions too, but I can't imagine they'll run them against Jericho, unless it's in a multi-man.

Of the top faces, neither Cody nor Hangman should hold it this early in the companies existence, and all their other faces seem very midcardy right now.

Reading the name 'Jericho' alongside '2020' is just mind boggling, tbh.

Dude made his WWF debut in 1999 with the dawning of the Y2K...

It almost feels like everything this dude does comes full circle. He should definitely do a countdown clock in AEW, before the new year...and do a dawning of 2020 thing.

I feel like that countdown would be amazing for his eventual retirement

Just realised that the Tag Team Champions will be crowned like a week before this takes place. I wonder who'll be the challengers here. Casino Battle Royale on The Buy In to decide. :shifty:

No, I can see LAX and The Lucha Brothers being excluded from the tournament. Having a match against each other on TNT and then the winners of that are the first challengers... or they both are and they have a Three-Way instead. Otherwise, by my count, if LAX and/or The Lucha Brothers are included in the tournament, one or two of the other teams will be excluded from the tournament.

Edit: Nevermind, they're doing a poll for the final team. Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus or Angélico & Jack Evans.

That's not even fair. A Boy and His Dinosaur are like one of the most over acts in the company.

I voted for Team Evans....

just wished he was 5 years younger and signed to nxt...

Why? He and Angelico are getting some really good exposure in AEW...

NXT had Kidd and Gabriel doing a similar "highfliers but heels" team for a while, and they ended up just punching in on Kidd's singles push...

And I really can't see them being used well if they were on the WWE's main roster...
