javiergard
Decided to try and give posting a go for 2K20. Ended up caving and getting the game on Thanksgiving weekend/Black Friday from the Xbox Live store. Since the last few attempts at starting a Universe from the usual starting point usually ended with me losing interest in Universe mode within the first few weeks or so I decided to start in January culminating with the Royal Rumble PPV and the Road to WrestleMania. Year 1: January, Week 4 Royal Rumble Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan Background: On the first RAW of the new year, Mr. McMahon announced a new era in WWE which would promise new concepts, new match-ups and new environments announcing that the first PPV of the new year the Royal Rumble would take place for the first time ever at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. Triple H would further the stakes saying that the "new WWE Universe" would now be an even playing field because at the Royal Rumble, NXT would also be involved not only in both Royal Rumble matches but for the first time ever NXT Championships would be defended at the now Tri-Branded PPV. Note: Despite changing the match number before the PPV, 10 matches were still put when I got to the PPV. 3 matches that were scheduled for the PPV but got pulled were The Kabuki Warriors vs. The IIconics vs. Charlotte Flair & Natalya vs. Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan for the Women's Tag Team Titles, Shinsuke Nakamura vs. The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship and a Six Pack Challenge to crown a new NXT Cruiserweight Champion featuring Mark Andrews, Akira Tozawa, Oney Lorcan, The Brian Kendrick, Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari. NXT Women's Championship Shayna Baszler © vs. Io Shirai Storyline: On the January, Week 1 edition of NXT, Shayna Baszler would issue an open challenge to anyone who dared to challenge her for the NXT Women's Championship which would be answered by Io Shirai. Io Shirai looked to take the news of the Royal Rumble taking place from her hometown as motivation to finally dethrone the "Queen of Spades." The following week, Io Shirai would defeat Toni Storm who made her Full Sail debut in an epic rematch from their encounter in the finals of the Mae Young Classic. This would secure Shirai's title opportunity against Baszler for the Royal Rumble. The next few weeks would see both Baszler and Shirai getting involved in each others matches including Shirai getting the best of the NXT Women's Champion during a brawl on the go-home NXT before the Royal Rumble. Match: Io Shirai would have her hometown crowd on her side against Baszler, pulling out all the stops despite Baszler almost getting a quick submission victory early on in the match. After numerous crossface attempts and a huge dive to the outside, Shirai would try to put away Baszler with a Moonsault but Baszler ducked out of the way instead trying to put Shirai away with the Kirafuda Clutch but Shirai broke out of the hold. Shirai desperate and not wanting to suffer humiliation of being submitted in her hometown would attack Baszler with a kendo stick in the end giving Baszler the win via disqualification. Winner and STILL NXT Women's Champion: Shayna Baszler SmackDown Tag Team Championship The New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods) (w/Kofi Kingston) © vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) Storyline: New Day would go into the new year as SmackDown Tag Team Champions reigniting their feud with their long time rivals The Revival. The Revival would secure themselves the #1 contender's spot defeating Heavy Machinery on the January, Week 1 edition of SmackDown Live. Their feud would begin to heat up on the January, Week 2 edition of SmackDown Live when The Revival would defeat The New Day in a non-title match. The two teams would trade singles match victories over the next two weeks with Big E defeating Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson defeating Xavier Woods on Weeks 3 and 4 respectively with The Revival attacking New Day on Week 4. Match: Big E started things off with Dash Wilder, New Day seemed to have control early on despite some brief teamwork from The Revival as they tried to isolate Big E and Xavier Woods from tagging in their respective partners. New Day would connect with the Midnight Hour on Dawson but Wilder would break up the pin causing a brawl between the two teams. After Dawson was taken out, Woods would hit WIlder with the Lost in the Woods scoring the win for New Day. Winners and STILL SmackDown Tag Team Champions: The New Day SmackDown Women's Championship Bayley © vs. Carmella Storyline: On the January, Week 2 edition of SmackDown Live, Carmella would call out the SmackDown Women's Champion Bayley questioning her friendship with Sasha Banks to ignite their feud. After Bayley question whether or not Carmella was worthy of challenging her for the title, Carmella would go on to defeat Lacey Evans the following week. Carmella would attack Bayley the following week after Bayley picked up a win over Dana Brooke. Match: Carmella would get some offense early on but however was unable to gain full momentum over the champion who would turn things around and make short work of Carmella hitting the Bayley to Belly and pinning Carmella for the win. Winner and STILL SmackDown Women's Champion: Bayley RAW Tag Team Championship The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) © vs. The O.C. (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) (w/AJ Styles) Storyline: Another tag team rivalry that carried over was The O.C. and The Viking Raiders rivalry over who was the best tag team on the RAW brand. Both teams would trade Tag Team and Singles victories on RAW while also involving themselves in AJ Styles and Humberto Carillo's feud over the United States Championship with the Viking Raiders teaming with Carillo defeating The O.C. in a Six Man Tag Team Match on the January, Week 3 edition of RAW. The Viking Raiders would accompany Carillo in his title match against Styles who had Gallows & Anderson in his corner. A brawl between The Viking Raiders and Gallows & Anderson would allow Styles to retain his United States Title. Match: Both teams no strangers to the Tokyo Dome received nice pops as The O.C. made their entrance with AJ Styles alongside them followed by the Viking Raiders. This was a pretty close, heavy hitting match as both teams brawled early on. The Viking Raiders nearly put Anderson away to retain connecting with their Viking Experience finisher but Gallows would make the save. The O.C. would almost come away themselves with a Magic Killer on Ivar but Erik would make the save allowing the match to continue. Erik would connect with a devastating knee to the chin of Anderson then sent him into the corner another Viking Experience to Anderson would allow The Viking Raiders to retain in an ultra competitive match. Winners and STILL RAW Tag Team Champions: The Viking Raiders NXT Championship Adam Cole © (w/The Undisputed Era) vs. Tommaso Ciampa Storyline: With Mr. McMahon's announcement that the first PPV of the new era the Royal Rumble taking place live from Tokyo, Japan. Triple H would follow up with the huge announcement of NXT being apart of the Royal Rumble and with that for the first time the NXT Championship would be defended at the Royal Rumble. On the January, Week 1 edition of NXT, Tommaso Ciampa was named #1 contender for the NXT Championship igniting a feud with Adam Cole. After a scheduled match with Jaxson Ryker saw Adam Cole attack Ryker on the ramp to send a message to Ciampa, Ryker would involve himself in their feud looking to be added to their match but would fail to defeat Cole in a non-title match on the January, Week 2 edition of NXT. Adam Cole would face Ciampa's former partner Johnny Gargano but Ciampa would attack Cole. This lead to a Tag Team match the following week where Ciampa and Gargano reunited to defeat Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish. Match: Adam Cole would come out alongside all 3 other members of The Undisputed Era making his return to the Tokyo Dome. Cole would have control early on but played to the crowd along with his Undisputed Era teammates allowing Ciampa to bounce back connecting with the Fairy Tale Ending but Cole would roll outside of the ring avoiding a pin. Ciampa would go outside being confronted by the other members of Undisputed Era but Ciampa would show no intimidation as he dropped Roderick Strong. The match continued with Cole connecting with the Panama Sunrise for a nearfall. Ciampa ends up busting Cole open in the ring then continued the attack in the corner before dropping Cole on the outside with a DDT on the apron. Ciampa would go to the outside this time sending O'Reilly in the ring and hitting him with the Fairy Tale Ending causing the official to eject The Undisputed Era from ringside however the other members would cause a distraction allowing Cole to regain momentum and hit Ciampa with the Last Shot to retain. Winner and STILL NXT Champion: Adam Cole Women's Royal Rumble 30-Women Royal Rumble Match for a title shot at WrestleMania Storyline: Didn't have a lot of build towards the Women's Royal Rumble match as four Women's Championships were set to be defended at the PPV but the Women's Tag Team Title Match was pulled from the PPV. The January, Week 4 edition of NXT featured a Women's Battle Royal won by Dakota Kai pulling an upset elimination over Rhea Ripley as well as the debuting Brooklyn Von Braun. Match: Charlotte Flair drew #1 opposite Lana to kick off the Women's Royal Rumble. NXT's Brooklyn Von Braun entered at #3 just days after making her Universe debut on NXT. The big shock of the Women's Royal Rumble was the return of "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey entering at #4 quickly eliminating Lana followed by Charlotte eliminating Von Braun before the two squared off. Lacey Evans entered next holding her own against Rousey and Flair. Molly Holly was the second of surprise entrants at #10. NXT's Toni Storm entered at #12 and pulled a shock elimination eliminating Charlotte Flair. NXT Women's Champion Shayna Baszler entered at #14 forming an alliance with Rousey helping to eliminate the likes of Lacey Evans and Kairi Sane and Rousey turning on Natalya during the match. Sasha Banks entered at #28 scoring a few eliminations of her own, #29 and 30 saw the returns of Ruby Riott and Nia Jax respectively with Riott eliminating Nikki Cross and Jax eliminating Mia Yim. Sasha Banks eliminates Ruby Riott and Natalya which gives us our final four: Alexa Bliss (#25), Sasha Banks, Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey who managed to hang on since entering at #4. Jax eliminates her former rival Bliss then takes out Banks as well. Jax looked to redeem herself but Ronda Rousey had redemption plans of her own as she eliminated Jax to win the Womens' Royal Rumble earning her shot at WrestleMania perhaps looking to avenge her title loss to Becky Lynch. Winner: "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey (Entrant #4) RAW Women's Championship Becky Lynch © vs. Zelina Vega (w/Andrade) Storyline: On the January, Week 1 edition of RAW, Becky Lynch opened the show to address Mr. McMahon's comments of a new era by saying that while it maybe a new era she is still "The Man." Zelina Vega took exception, saying that it was a new era because it was her time and she wanted to be the one to take the RAW Women's Championship from Becky Lynch. A Mixed Tag Team Match was made for the next week as Becky Lynch teamed with Seth Rollins to face Zelina Vega and Andrade where Zelina would score an upset pin over Becky countering a Bexploder Suplex into a roll-up. After weeks of verbal trades and attacks from Zelina on Becky, Zelina was given a title shot against Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble. Match: Becky Lynch wasted no time going after Zelina Vega who brought Andrade to ringside despite Andrade failing to qualify for the Men's Royal Rumble Match. Becky Lynch looked to make short work of Zelina but Andrade with a distraction would allow Zelina to roll Becky Lynch for a nearfall. Becky Lynch not wanting to take a chance with the distractions took out Andrade on the outside before hitting a Bexploder Suplex and followed up with the Disarm-Her on Zelina who had no choice but to tap out. Becky Lynch would address the Women's Royal Rumble winner Ronda Rousey saying that if Rousey decides to go after her title at WrestleMania she would be sure to break Rousey's arm and send Rousey into retirement this time. Winner and STILL RAW Women's Champion: Becky Lynch WWE Championship "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt © vs. Daniel Bryan Storyline: On the January, Week 1 edition of SmackDown Live, Daniel Bryan defeated Harper but was attacked by "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. A match was then made for the two the following week but Wyatt would attack Bryan before the match began. Bryan would issue a challenge to Wyatt at the Royal Rumble for the WWE Championship which Wyatt accepted. On the January, Week 4 edition of SmackDown Live, Wyatt would defeat Kalisto in a squash match to send a message to Bryan. Match: Wyatt dominated the early portion of the match, hitting Sister Abigail but only getting a nearfall. Daniel Bryan would regroup, alternating between rallying the crowd on with Yes chants and showing some of the vicious side of the "New" Daniel Bryan. Bryan connects the LeBell Lock but Wyatt quickly breaks out. Bryan would send Wyatt to the outside connecting with a Suicide Dive then continued the assault on the outside. Bryan connects with a few dropkicks to Wyatt in the corner then follows with a Diving Headbutt before going into the corner preparing for the Running Knee but the lights go out, Bryan is in the middle of the ring with Wyatt right behind him who drills Bryan in the back of the head before hitting another Sister Abigail. Wyatt sets Bryan up and locks in the Mandible Claw with Bryan passing out giving Wyatt the victory. Winner and STILL WWE Champion: "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt WWE Universal Championship Brock Lesnar © (w/Paul Heyman) vs. Rey Mysterio Storyline: On the January, Week 1 edition of RAW, Rey Mysterio defeated Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins in a Fatal 4 Way to become #1 Contender for the Universal Championship. The following week, Rey Mysterio would confront Brock Lesnar vowing to overcome "The Beast" and Suplex City to win the Universal Title. Rey Mysterio would prepare for his upcoming match, first defeating Rowan on the January, Week 3 edition of RAW then followed with a win over Bobby Lashley the following week before being attacked by Lesnar. Match: Both men make their entrances, Mysterio tries to use his speed to take advantage of Lesnar early on but Lesnar ends up grounding Mysterio connecting with several suplexes of his own. Followed by the Triple German Suplexes. Lesnar looked to have this one already in the books but Mysterio countered an F-5 attempt managing to bring down Lesnar and connect with a Frog Splash for a 2-count. Mysterio connects with his comeback maneuver, sending Lesnar into the ropes for a 619 then looked to connect with the Dragonrana but Heyman distracted Mysterio allowing Lesnar to hit Mysterio with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex from the top turnbuckle. Lesnar would finish Mysterio with one more round of German Suplexes before connecting with the F5 to retain. Winner and STILL Universal Champion: Brock Lesnar Men's Royal Rumble 30-Man Royal Rumble for a title shot at WrestleMania Storyline: With the announcement of NXT being apart of this year's Royal Rumble the announcement was then made that each brand will be allowed 10 entrants each raising the stakes and forcing superstars from all 3 brands to step up and try and earn an opportunity through Royal Rumble Qualifying matches with the first taking place as the first match on the January, Week 1 edition of RAW where Rusev defeated Rowan to become the first to qualify. Chad Gable and Ali would earn their spots the same week defeating Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler on SmackDown Live. Almost of RAW's roster had to earn their spots, with Lashley defeating Cedric Alexander, Ricochet defeating Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins defeating Eric Young and Kevin Owens defeating Andrade to all qualify. Aleister Black announced his entry on the January, Week 3 edition after defeating Cole Quinn in a squash match. Drew McIntyre would win a Second Chance Fatal 4 Way against Rowan, Andrade and Alexander to qualify after weeks of being irate after losing his qualifying match against Ricochet via countout. A Six Man Tag was later made with with Randy Orton, Buddy Murphy and EC3 defeating Akira Tozawa, Titus O'Neil and R-Truth to earn the final 3 spots on the RAW brand. However, Mr. McMahon would end up replacing EC3 with AJ Styles saying that EC3 "failed to live up to expectations." SmackDown Live saw Kalisto qualify defeating his teammates Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado in a Triple Threat match but would be removed from the match due to "injury" following his loss to "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt. Kofi Kingston, Baron Corbin, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman would be announced for the match. On NXT, Johnny Gargano defeated Mike Kanellis to qualify, Keith Lee defeated Kassius Ohno and later Breezango would qualify after an upset win over Moustache Mountain. Matt Riddle, Undisputed Era (minus Adam Cole) and Pete Dunne would be announced for the match. Match: AJ Styles and Ricochet would start of the Royal Rumble as #'s 1 and 2 respectively. Mustafa Ali and Tyler Breeze were next turning the match into a fast paced encounter before Big Show representing SmackDown Live would enter as a surprise entrant dominating the four men. Lars Sullivan would then make his return at #6 with an encounter with Big Show eliminating the giant before Sullivan would go on to eliminate Breeze and Ali. Aleister Black enters at #7 taking the fight to his former NXT rival Sullivan connecting with Black Mass and eliminating Sullivan. A vengeful Drew McIntyre came in at #11 eliminating Ricochet and Chad Gable (#10) then eliminating the next entrant Fandango within seconds. Johnny Gargano entered at #13, McIntyre also looked to make short work of Gargano but Gargano would turn the tables and eliminate McIntyre who was furious. Keith Lee entered at #14 with an impressive showing of his own eliminating Buddy Murphy (#9). Matt Riddle also entered the match at #19 eliminating Undisputed Era's Kyle O'Reilly and quickly eliminating The Miz before he was eliminated by Randy Orton (#22). Braun Strowman (#18) also scored quite a few eliminations including Black and Lee. Pete Dunne coming days after winning the NXT North American Title entered at #21 eliminating Kofi Kingston before being eliminated by Baron Corbin (#23). Roman Reigns enters at #24 quickly eliminating Baron Corbin. Roderick Strong is next at #25 followed by Rusev but is eliminated shortly by Strong. Rollins entered at #27 eliminating AJ Styles after an impressive performance. Samoa Joe makes a shocking return at #28 eliminating Strong. Undisputed Era's Bobby Fish and the Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura are the final two entrants. Bobby Fish manages to eliminate Orton but is then eliminated by Rollins. Samoa Joe sends Strowman out with a Clothesline in the corner which brings us our final four: Reigns, Rollins, Joe, Nakamura. Rollins surprises and double-crosses Roman Reigns and eliminates him, however Rollins' arrogance costs him and is eliminated by Nakamura. Nakamura and Joe are the final two but Joe ruins Nakamura's homecoming as he sends him over the top rope to win the Men's Royal Rumble. Winner: Samoa Joe (Entrant #28) Royal Rumble Entrances & Eliminations Women's Royal Rumble Order of Entry 1. Charlotte Flair 2. Lana 3. Brooklyn Von Braun 4. "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey (Winner) 5. I did end up dealing with the game crashing during the Women's Royal Rumble twice first after #10 entrant entered and second about halfway in the match which was pretty irritating so I did the Rumbles on exhibition mode and just simulated the winners on Universe so hope things will work out better for the Elimination Chamber. Hope you enjoyed until next time!

1990 Universe Mode April: Week 01 Ultimate Warrior Mr. Perfect Demolition Match #1: Mr. Perfect w/ The Genius vs. Roddy Piper (Non-Title) -A grueling back and forth match to start the show. Both men ended up being busted open by the end of it. Perfect looked like he was in full control of the match, hitting a snapmare on Piper and following it up with his patented Perfect Plex. Piper was able to kick out, which seemed to throw Perfect off of his game. Piper would block an attempted punch and locked in the sleeper on Perfect. The ref called for the bell after Perfect passed out. Winner by submission: Roddy Piper -A win for Piper should elevate him in the standings for a future Intercontinental Title shot. A dejected Perfect left the ring, shocked at being beat. Surprisingly, The Genius wasn’t a factor in the match. Match #2: Power & Glory w/ Slick vs. Demolition w/ Ax (Non-Title) -A heel team vs another heel team. Both Ax and Slick should be major factors going into this match. Hercules was able to neutralize the power of Smash and Crush, hitting big clotheslines and slams. Smash and Crush were able to take advantage of Paul Roma when he was tagged in and hit him with the Decapitator. Slick immediately slid in a chair and climbed up on the ring, distracting the referee and saving his team. He would be thrown out because of it. Hercules would seize advantage of the distraction. After Roma made a hot tag, Hercules would lift Crush up into the torture rack to get the victory over the Tag Team Champions. Winners by submission: Power & Glory That makes the champs 0-2 so far in the show. Definitely an upset. Match #3: Big Boss Man vs. Tito Santana -We switch it up with two faces going at it. Tito was simply outmatched in this one. Boss Man grounded the fast Santana. Santana was able to gain some momentum at the end of the match, but when going for the clothesline Santana inadvertently clotheslined the referee instead. While Santana was checking on the ref, Boss Man took advantage hitting the Boss Man Slam for the win. Winner by Pinfall: Big Boss Man -Though Boss Man took advantage of the referee being down, it was a clean win. You can’t fault the Boss Man if Tito was the one to knock the referee down. Promo: Ted Dibiase -Dibiase called out the American Dream Dusty Rhodes, stating that Rhodes has interfered in his business for far too long. Rhodes obliges, coming out to go face to face with the Million Dollar Man. Rhodes states that he can’t wait to get his hands on Dibiase, it doesn’t matter what match it is. Dibiase says they will have a match when the Million Dollar Man is good and ready. Promo Winner: Ted Dibiase Main Event: Ultimate Warrior vs. Rick Rude w/ Bobby Heenan (Non-Title) -The ref rings the bell and the Warrior immediately goes after Rude. Heenan slides a chair in. Rude takes a hold of the chair and cracks Warrior in the head with it for the DQ. Winner by DQ: Ultimate Warrior -It seems this match was just a ploy to attack Warrior. Rude hits the referee over the head with the steel chair and continues to pummel the Warrior. Superstars goes off the air.

Petey_the_Clown
Wait... I only just found out from Smacktalks Video that Alt attires dont work in Universe this year? Whats the crack with that.. is there any workaround.. Apparently it only shows attire slot 1.... but does that even get randomly picked by CPU in universe modes? OutlawedGhost
It seems that sometimes whatever version is set as the attire (in universe/superstars) will be used (although most will still show when picked just not all) no matter which is picked when selecting. To get the 2nd attire working it needs to be set as default in creations and set as the attire in edit superstars outside of universe and saved to universe slot. Haven't tested to see if using Random and then picking when selecting for match will make it go random or use the attire you picked in the selection screen (doing other things atm). EDIT: With the 1st attire mine has been hit and miss. Sometimes it needs to be set as default in creations and selected as main attire in universe. Others just choosing it as the universe attire will make it work. EDIT #2: A note for those getting annoyed with it returning to the show overview screen when setting a match. If you leave and re-enter universe each time you advance a show it should stay on the edit matches screen. An extra note is that edited matches only seem to be saved when pressing save (or start/options) from the edit matches screen so this could explain the situation where some people are losing matches they have set. OutlawedGhost
Did have this elsewhere because I was expecting to update it and wanted to avoid clogging this up. However it is now running pretty much real time and I will only be posting updates after each month (again real time) which will each include a couple of months (have alot of catchup shows then recent ones) at a time.
