Just a man that respects continuity.

I'm assuming there are plans to sign Buddy to AEW as well...so they are probably planning for the future with this one.

Trying to bring back some of the spark of the old days when feuds transcended promotions.

No offense to Murphy, but I don’t think they should bring him in any time soon. They already have tons of a guys like him. I think AEW should be more selective about which former WWE talent they grab. They got Andrade and Black which are two good picks (although, so far for me, they’ve been underwhelming). Add another maybe two more and then be done for the next several months.

I've said my piece about talent signings in AEW already. But, I'll repeat it...because I feel like it.

We're back to touring now, and they literally have a new televised show starting next month. The roster is not as big as people make it out to be, and they are still lacking guys who are a credible threat to the main championships. Andrade and Black are two future world champion caliber performers. Buddy, IMO...is not. (But, he could easily elevate the TNT title, and the midcard in general). I think Buddy is absolutely worth signing. I think they'd be foolish not to. I also think he sets himself apart from most of the other "similar guys"...in that, he's far and away better than most of them. The only person who holds a candle to him, really, is PAC.

And...one final thing (and this is a big one). The landscape has changed. There is no reason for fans to complain that a roster is "too big" or say that people "aren't necessary" when you have talent exchanges...and guys who are allowed to keep working indies, work Japan, work Mexico, work AEW and Impact...all at the same time. "Signing" someone like Murphy is not a "book-closed" scenario. They could sign him to a specialized contract, wherein he gets paid for dates worked. In my opinion, pro wrestling needs as much of a rotating roster as possible. Seeing the same people compete in the same matches has consistently been one of the worst aspects of professional wrestling since Vince bought out WCW all those years ago. We're finally getting back to what wrestling should be, and people are somehow confused by it. The rotating door of talents coming and going is exactly what AEW should keep doing more of. If you're still viewing it as "AEW wasted money" or "AEW is hogging talents that other companies could use"...then, you're looking at things all wrong. And that's on you. Bringing in surprise signees on a regular basis will continue to make AEW "must watch" content. It's the closest thing to the territories of old.

i feel like an old ass angry man but i don’t want anymore gimmick matches, at least not for a while. like i would’ve probably liked to see Darby vs Ethan a lot more if it wasn’t a Coffin match, also doesn’t help that i know Scorpio and Sting will likely get involved and i have definitely had my fill of mid-match shenanigans from this company. they have had a rough streak lately of poorly-done gimmick matches (Blood & Guts, whatever Comoroto vs Dustin was, whatever Cody vs QT just was, the *censored*ing cagefight) and i’m honestly worried Guevara vs Spears will be like a chairs match or some shit which is what inspired this post tbh. after how good Guevara/MJF was, i really just want more of that, minus the interference.

^ I still enjoy gimmick matches. But AEW picks some random and unappealing ones. I'm sick to death of strap/chain matches. I've never been big on them, and I feel like AEW has already had an absurd amount of them in the short window of their existence as a company. The coffin match doesn't bother me that much, just because it makes sense based on Darby's gimmick, and it will pretty much be a straight forward match until the finish.

I snagged an All Out ticket. I'm probably dumb for it, since I gotta BS myself a flight from LA to Chicago like a month after I move, but something is telling me it'll be a good ass show.

PAC has been noticeably absent on recent episodes of AEW Dynamite and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, it's due to travel.

PAC reportedly went home to the UK recently and with travel still being difficult due to the pandemic, hasn't been able to return.

PAC last wrestled on the June 11 (taped on June 6) episode of AEW Dynamite where he teamed with Penta El Zero M & Eddie Kingston to defeat The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) & Brandon Cutler.

The Young Bucks have taken credit for "injurying" PAC and taking him off television. PAC's partner in Death Triangle Rey Fenix is currently sidelined with a groin injury.

It is unknown when PAC will return to TV.

Kingston and Penta have continued to team together, recently challenging the Young Bucks for the AEW Tag Team Titles at AEW Dynamite Road Rager.

Jim Ross Says Some Fans Wanted Him To Die For “WWE Dynamite” Flub

Quote

As noted, on the June 30th episode of AEW Dynamite Jim Ross accidentally referred to the show as “WWE Dynamite” when closing the episode.

Jim Ross responded to the comment on Twitter, stating that there’s no excuse for the mistake he made, but that he’s not quitting anytime soon. Former AEW Champion Chris Jericho, and others came to the AEW commentator’s defense, noting that Ross is still the greatest wrestling commentator of all time.

On the latest episode of the Grilling JR podcast, Ross went further in depth on the mistake he made and mentioned some of the harsh criticism he received from fans online.

“I don’t know much more I can say when I addressed it,” Ross said. “I made a mistake, it was inadvertent and I’m very sorry I did it obviously, it’s embarrassing. All of a sudden out of that one or two second bite, here’s what comes out of that for some wrestling fans and I say some wrestling fans because I’m still a devotee of our business, I have great respect for the fans. They have supported my efforts undeniably for years, through Jan’s death, leaving WWE. Whatever it may be, they’ve always stood fast. I think the criticism I’ve received has been from a vast minority of defiant young males and some females who ascertain these points.

“[People said] I’ve had a stroke, by the way I’ve never had a stroke but that’s been diagnosed on the internet from my faupaux, I’ve had a stroke. I’ve had a battle with Bell’s Palsy, I’ve actually had three bouts with Bell’s Palsy. That I have onset dementia, which wouldn’t surprise me, it’s going to happen to everybody some ways or another. But man I got everything on that thing from people wanting me to die. Here’s what’s sad about that deal, it’s not about my mispronouncing, this is a much bigger issue in my opinion. That’s all this is folks, my opinion. It’s the flavor of the country right now, it’s just where we are and it’s sad, I don’t even know what you call it, the cancel culture. It was a little rugged. The thing about it is people misquote information, without any thought, there’s no conscious involved. It’s not the fact that I might get this right if I say JR has onset dementia, but then what if you’re wrong? How do you pull that back in? Well, it’s out there so you don’t pull it back in.”

Ross continued to talk about the week as a whole, saying he thoroughly enjoyed the main event of the show which featured MJF defeating Sammy Guevara. Following the loss, Guevara took to Twitter to say that he would be back and eventually be AEW World Champion someday. The AEW commentator also put a close to his “WWE Dynamite” mishap.

“It was an interesting week,” Ross said. “Bottom line, guys I’ve been doing this a long time, I still work every week to get better at my job.

“But I can tell you this was all on me and we had a hell of a show. That [Sammy] Guevara MJF match was outstanding, one of the better matches I’ve called in years and years but the whole show was strong. The close of the show, those two young kids, both in their mid 20s, knew the responsibility of closing the show and how important it was. For everybody surrounding them, for our fans to deliver. I had the sense that leading into that last match, I thought that we had a really strong show leading up to that main event. People were expecting greatness and I think that’s what those two guys delivered.”

Some people just don't take death as a big deal or seriously like they should. They feel the need to be judge, jury and executioner..or someone to be an executioner for them even for petty reasons. If some of those people are just joking (which is likely) then they play too much with dark humor!

random question what ever happened to GoldenBoy? i thought he was great on commentary

Yeah, once they signed Tony Schiavone they stopped using him. He's doing fine though, he is apart of the G4 reboot. If they ever do another show with CEO, I can see him coming back. Surprised Fyter Fest didn't become the annual CEO show, but maybe the pandemic stopped that. We'll always have this picture of JR in a gaming chair though lmao
