The sister company of Nihon-1, Starlight Pro was established in 2003 as a place to showcase the very best that Japanese women's wrestling - "Joshi Puroesu", has to offer. From humble beginnings with such talented future legends as Lioness Setsuko, Kana Sakoda and Sayuri Irabu to the present crop of wrestlers like Chisako Yoshida, Cleo Jones and Megumi Saito, Starlight Pro has become a benchmark in women's wrestling not just in Japan, but around the world. Originally planned to be a mere women's division for N1, the founder N1 Masato Tennouji refused to allow this to happen sighting "These women deserve to stand on a platform of their own, not on one built by us". So with a $80K investment, he put together a one night show called "Starlight Gaiden" to test the waters and see what the female students of his dojo could do. After a resounding success, the seeds where sewn and Starlight Pro would come to be 4 months later.

Present day Starlight Pro still holds true to it's roots, with it's biggest annual show Starlight Gaiden being the hallmark event for the promotion. Over the subsequent 15 years, much has changed within the promotion. Tennouji handed executive control of the company to Kana Sakoda in 2008, and her vision has propelled it forward since. From scouting other nations such as Greece, Australia, Mexico and the United States for talent, to fostering a partnership with CAW and PWE in a female talent exchange, Starlight Pro is poised to continue to push women's wrestling forward as only they know how. With the 16th anniversary soon approaching, the competition has become the fiercest it's ever been.

These are the stars that shine the way. This is Starlight Pro Wrestling.

Ayumi Hasegawa

If any woman embodies the spirit of Starlight Pro, it's Ayumi Hasegawa. A veteran of 8 years in the industry, she's competed around the world against the best wrestling has to offer. A 3 time Starlight Pro Champion, she prides herself on being the bridge between old and new. Never one to back away from a challenge, she's stands poised to battle any challenge to come her away, no matter how daunting. She's counted among the "3 Stars", the highest non-championship accolade bestowed upon Starlight Pro talent.

"Thunder" Chisako Yoshida

From: Osaka, Japan

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 128lbs

Signature Move: Storm Rush (Empress Combination/ Thunderbolt (Bicycle Knee Strike 1)

Finishing Move: Thunder Strike (Single Leg High Knee 2)/ Thunder Crash (Air Raid Siren)

e3quqxh.png

The current Starlight Pro World Champion, and one of the most fearsome women in wrestling today. Since her debut 3 years ago, Chisako has firmly established that she will stop at nothing to be the best. As relentless and devastating as her nickname proceeds her, she's a storm of fury and ferocity in and out of the ring. Where her brash, arrogance causes her to fall short, he sheer force of will and tremendous skill carries her forward. She's naturally counted as one of the "3 Stars".

"Magic" Megumi Saito

From: Tokyo, Japan

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 140lbs

Signature Move: Inverse Magic (Belly to Back Inverted Slam)/ Tokyo Drift (Tiger Feint Kick Combo)

Finishing Move: Death Spell (Flip Piledriver)/ Black Magic

k2XxgNZ.png

Widely regarded as the best pure talent in Starlight Pro, and the long standing rival of Chisako...Megumi Saito has more weapons in her arsenal then even some male wrestlers. She's long since aspired to become one of the next legends of women's wrestling, and with her resume thus far that includes 2 reigns as Starlight Pro World champ, Starlight Pro Ascent Champion, and victories all over the world against the best women in the world, including the distinction of being the last woman to pin Ashley Diamond in over 3 years, she's well on her way to achieve her goal. She is the 3rd of the "3 Stars".

Mio Takenaka

From: Osaka, Japan

Height: 6'0"

Weight: 240lbs

Signature Move: Serpent's Grasp (Vise Grip 1)/ Serpent's Lash (Leg Drop 2)

Finishing Move: Serpent's Wrath (Tour Of The Islands)/ Diving Moonsault 5

1W24GS1.png
Not only the largest female in Starlight Pro, but one of the largest female wrestlers on the planet, "The Serpent Queen" Mio Takenaka is a throwback to such legends as Dump Matsumoto, Aja Kong and Bull Nakano. And much like those legends, she's a ruthless, unrelenting powerhouse. With a single reign as Ascent Champion under her belt, she's been embroiled in a rivalry with the current champion, and Starlight Pro's other resident "Dragon" Tatsuo Yoshida.

Nobuhime Oda

From: Kyoto, Japan

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 140lbs

Signature Move: Shadow Realm (Reverse STO/ Lil' Jimmy)

Finishing Move: Shadow Blade (Black Mass 1 & 2)

O59smY2.png

Relatively new to Starlight Pro, since her debut 1 year ago, Nobuhime has firmly asserted she's not here to make friends. A blood descendant of Edo period Daimyo Nobunaga Oda, Nobuhime is clearly cut from the same cloth as her ancestor. She doesn't speak often, but when she does her words are chilling and usually carry a bleak message.

Riho Natsugane

From: Kobe, Japan

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 118lbs

Signature Move: Riho-Rana (Hurricanrana Driver)/ Reverse Riho-Rana (Inverted Frankensteiner)

Finishing Move: Astro Riho-Rana (Avalanche Scissor Whip)/ Riho-Go-Round (Corkscrew Neckbreaker 2)

NLY8Ia5.png

Easily the most beloved talent in all of Starlight Pro, Riho is also one of the most popular Idols in Japan today. The multi-talented Riho can sing, dance, play several instruments and speak 5 languages. But don't let her small stature and playful nature fool you, she's as fierce as the come in the ring. Destined to be a champion, the upside for this rising star among stars is limitless.

Rosie Harrex

From: Brisbane, Australia

Height: 5'5"

Weight: 146lbs

Signature Move: German Suplex 6/ Booty Thump (Rear View)

Finishing Move: Fallout Driver (Omega Driver)/ Crash Breaker (Air Raid Crash Neckbreaker 2)

YfMwC8Z.png

One of the most recent non-Japanese talents to come out of Tennouji-Kai, Rosie Harrex has tore the indy scene up since debuting in 2012. The Brisbane born aussie brings impact and and energy to the ring few can replicate. Expressive and passionate about the business, Rosie is known to bring that same level of energy between the ropes. Even when faced with the stiffest of competition, Rosie is out to put on a show.

Sakura Odate

From: Kobe, Japan

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 130lbs

Signature Move: Meteor Strike (Running Meteora 1)/ Orbital Meteor Strike (Diving Meteora 2)

Finishing Move: Senbonzakura (Chick Kick 1 & Buzzasaw Kick

rhkgRh4.png

For Sakura Odate, wrestling is life. From her youth she idolized the female wrestlers of the time, and dreamed to one day be counted among them. Once she turned 18, she left her home of Kobe to Tokyo to train at the famed Tennouji-Kai school. Dedicating herself to her dream, she became one of the most exemplary students of her class, and was immediately recruited to compete in Starlight Pro. At 21, she's still pretty green in the business, but her natural talent and ability to adapt to any and all opponents has already seen her stock rise among her peers.

Sayuri Irabu

From: Tokyo, Japan

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 170lbs

Signature Move: Daei-Ken (Running Forearm Strike 3)/ Sayuri Splash (Springboard Crossbody 2)

Finishing Move: Hyper Bomb (Release Tiger Bomb)/ AAM-5 (Heat Seeking Elbow)

UB0GSUo.png

The oldest active wrestler in Starlight Pro, Sayuri has been going strong since 2004. A product of the Honma Dojo, she originally made her debut not in Japan, but America in the now defunct LXW promotion. When the company folded, Sayuri returned to Japan and became a mainstay in the then young Starlight Pro. With multiple reigns as champion over the years, she's begun passing her knowledge off to the next generation of talent. But she's far from done, and has plenty left in the tank to continue her legacy.

Tatsuo Shinoda

From: Tokyo, Japan

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 122lbs

Signature Move: Dragon Kick (Diving Thrust Kick)/ Sling Blade

Finishing Move: Dragon's Bite (Dragon Slayer)/ Dragon Wing (Running Superkick)

ZQhQkZ5.png

"The Dragoness" is the current Starlight Pro Ascent Champion, and has shown no sign of relinquishing it since winning the belt in 2017. A 2nd degree black belt in Kyokushin Karate, Tatsuo is no stranger to combat, also competing in MMA.

Yukiko Abari

From: Yamaguchi, Japan

Height: 5'8"

Weight: 132lbs

Signature Move: Exploder Suplex 5/ Cravate Neckbreaker

Finishing Move: Beauty Clash (Styles Clash 1)/ Yuki Kick (Bicycle Kick 1)

ET77Z53.png

For Yukiko Abari, being one of the best wrestlers isn't enough. Looking good while doing so is. The narcissistic beauty has risen up the ranks with a cut-throat attitude and a vicious demeanor. It's no wonder she and Chisako Yoshida have become steadfast allies. But even so, only one can stand atop the heavens, and they day may soon come that Yukiko decides it's her time to be the brightest star in the sky.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I put a lot of work into these girls, which is why it took a bit longer then I originally planned to get this update out into the wild.

Almost every character I make has some kind of backstory to them, even newer ones...though their stories aren't as fleshed out obviously. As for inspiration, a few of these ladies have basis from real life wrestlers, namely Megumi...who's loosely inspired bu Io Shirai, Riho...loosely inspired by Mayu Iwatami and Rosie...loosely inspired by Toni Storm. All the others come from digital art, anime and other such mediums.
