Illinois tattoo artist Catherine Alexander has filed a lawsuit against WWE and 2K Games, according to TMZ Sports. Randy Orton's tattoo artist claims that 2K and WWE used her designs without permission in the WWE 2K video game series.

Alexander claims that she's been doing Orton's ink since 2003 and owns the copyrights to the designs. She's accusing WWE and 2K of copyright infringement because Orton's tats are depicted to a tee in the WWE video games.

Alexander says she brought the issue up with WWE in 2009 and was offered just $450 for the rights to use the designs. She says she declined the offer. There's no word yet on how much money she is seeking in the suit.

The tattoos mentioned in the suit are a tribal tattoo on Orton's upper back as well as the full sleeve he has with everything from a Bible verse to a dove, skulls and a rose, among others.

Knew this would come eventually. They did this shit for NBA too. I dont the budget for the WWE games has the budget to pay everybodys tattoo artist for each and every tattoo so if this keeps up...yikes

To long. She was obviously aware and can be seen as manipulating waiting on success, rather than have the problem in its pure form. Be disregarded or a really low pay out if WWE are nice. Hope not though, loads will come through.

Not to mention, the tattoos were extension of Randy as a human, not vice versa. The model is Orton in game. If anything be branched back to him, as he gives consent for his body to be used and whats on it.

Well... Good luck. Unlike with Jericho's tattoos, these ones are undeniably an extension of Orton's body.

Also...I'm pretty sure she didn't come up with the bible verses. So that's not even her creative property being stolen.

And is she sueing Mattel and Co. aswell?

If she wins it will open the floodgates. You won't be able to create decent CAWs in case of copyright infringement.

Not so sure I agree with that.

The issue is the company profiting from the promotion of the in-game models (and their likeness), not user uploads.

Even if that happens, the barbers won't win the lawsuit.

Suspicious the lady would wait for 9 years though before suing. That'll probably work against her unless financial reasons compelled her to wait for so long.
