We've let Morais go which is upsetting, he's the assist king.

On the flip side, we've signed Oztumer who has scored 32 goals in 2 years (from attacking midfield) and was on the League One team of the season the last two years. Let's hope he can make the step up to the Championship

The champs are up today against Mexico. Let's go, Germany.

Germany might struggle comparatively today, they're not traditionally fast starters, but they tend to hit form when it matters.

Germany might go out in the group stage you know, it seems to happen a lot. Spain, 2010 winners - first team eliminated in 2014. Same for Italy 2006/2010.

+ France, who won in 1998 and then suffered group stage elimination in 2002.

As for Germany, it's not that they didn't try or were complacent. Mexico outclassed them tactically, neutralized most of their threat by reducing it to long distance shots and grabbed them by the throat on the break by having Lozano jump all over Kimmich. Also, nobody at Germany was tracking back, first by choice, then by circumstances. Khedira is finished, Kroos wasn't much for defensive work, neither was Özil.

Adding to that, Germany lacked creativity up front, as none of the dribblers, passers and runners came up with something dynamic or out of the box.

Only Brandt and Özil had a somewhat positive game and Brandt was limited to a 5-minute sub appearance where he nearly twatted it top bins on a volley.

Sweden and South Korea are annoying little teams too, so Germany could easily be out after the second round.

Then there's 2010 runners up Holland, who did even worse than that an haven't qualified for multiple in a row now, and came bottom that one time they did. (Euro 2012). They did get 3rd last time in 2014 but that's a one off considering 2012, 16 and 18. I also just remembered you're literally from Holland lol so sorry for rubbing salt into the wounds.

Seems making the final turns you shit for an entire generation lol

Apparently a German newspaper made a joke about the German team building a wall against Mexico today though I guess that wall ended up backfiring lol.

What the hell was that from Germany today? First upset of the World Cup and it happens to us. Pissed about this.

Germany weren't even bad. Mexico got there tactics spot on and battled hard for the 3 points from the very first whistle. Germany were relying on long shots due to how good Mexico set up defensively. Mexico should have scored more but their end product was pretty abysmal.

Everyone keeps saying Mexico did good, but I honestly couldn't tell with my Mexican relatives yelling at the TV like they did yesterday lmao.
