WWE 2K18 Coming to Nintendo Switch Starting December 6

As previously announced, WWE 2K18 is in development for Nintendo Switch, but fans have been left wondering when they could get their hands on the game.

 

The answer is finally here! WWE 2K18 will be available for Nintendo Switch this week as it rolls out worldwide in physical and digital formats starting December 6*.

 

Those who pre-order the physical version of WWE 2K18 on Nintendo Switch will receive two playable versions of WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle: his WWE “American Hero” persona (2001) and his ECW “Wrestling Machine” persona (2006)‡. Digital WWE 2K18 customers will be able to download the Kurt Angle pack at no additional cost through December 13, 2017.

 

The Nintendo Switch edition is a robust offering featuring the new grapple carry system, new weight detection, thousands of new animations, a massive backstage area, and up to six characters onscreen at once. Play on TV or in handheld mode with up to four people in online and local multiplayer. All of the big modes are included as well:

About bloody time. -_- Now to see if it was worth it.

 

EDIT: Doesn't seem like it'll have split joy-con multiplayer from the sound of it.

4-players generally indicates everyone will need dual-analog (IE both joy-cons per player) & the Switch maxes out at 4 pairs of joy-cons. If split joy-sons were supported then they could've gotten 6-player local.

 

It also worries me a bit the press release doesn't mention community creations or how many CAW slots.

Tbf, I'm quite surprised at how much stuff is being squeezed into this port. WWE games have been notorious for the past decade for porting to lesser hardware and stripping the game down to the bare minimum because of it, so respect to 2K on this one.

Usually because said system isn't powerful enough. However, the Switch definitely is.

Tbf, I'm quite surprised at how much stuff is being squeezed into this port. WWE games have been notorious for the past decade for porting to lesser hardware and stripping the game down to the bare minimum because of it, so respect to 2K on this one.

Usually because said system isn't powerful enough. However, the Switch definitely is.

 

It's not always because of power, sometimes they plain just don't give a ****. For example '09 on Wii had online multiplayer but the subsequent games didn't. No reason they couldn't, they just didn't.

Im kinda happy to wait now after seeing gameplay on twitch. Holy shit, the slow down was terrible. Graphically its what I expect on the Switch and it looks okay but they shouldnt have released it in the state its in.

It is definitely running at a lower frame rate, but playing it feels consistent and I managed a five-star match with plenty of reversals and kick outs on my first go. For a portable version with near-full content - including DLC, which concerned me - this is pretty incredible. Again, its slower, but it was pretty consistent and fun.

I think it's a complete waste of time.

 

For years it was always current gen and PS2 which meant there was 2 separate versions being made so when that got ditched I was happy the team was only working on one game but now we have a Switch version which means all their time isnt being focussed on one game.

 

Id rather just current gen PS4/X1/PC be made because there arent limitations like the Handheld/PS2 was.

Probably since it a lot harder to return a digital copy. A few places these year only had the digital at first on other systems as well which seemed kinda of odd. But I think it was done to hide some of the games issues.

They did the same thing with Portal Knights had it on Digital during Black Friday but to get a physical copy you have to wait till Feb which is just crazy.

I don't think Nintendo/Sony ever gave a damn about the Lego games because Vita/3DS were just crap yet funny enough Rayman Legends/Mortal Kombat were perfect ports to the console versions so if they wanted to Lego games should have run like they did on consoles.

I'll get this when it costs $15 or $20...but not before then. I already slowed down a considerable amount on playing the XB1 version of the game, and the only draw for the Switch version is that it's portable. I can easily wait awhile for that.

 

Then again, Nintendo has this funny way of keeping even the most random games at high price points...so it might never happen. They might still be selling WWE2K18 for $50 when the rest of the world is playing 2K19 or even 2K20.
