It's already in the game. They just used cuts and camera angles, which made it look new. Thats quite an assumption. Just because we got a OWA in 2K17 doesn't mean they didn't make a separate version for Dain, especially as Dain tends to hit it a bit differently in terms of the fall. he got his own from the corner. Nice, wasn't expecting them to make that. As for GMP's earlier post, I checked the animations from the trailer with 2k17's version a bunch of times. So I wasn't just making wild assumptions. And they already said if you've played 2K17 you've played 2K18 from a mechanics stand point.
