U.S. Politics Discussion

Hopefully nothing of sort happens. We have enough incompetent people in the White House as it is, and one or few even blamed porn for school shootings (which I hope is fake news). Ridiculous. They'll blame everything and anything but guns and easy access to guns.

Also, did Roseanne get any flak for saying "Muslims aren't a race?" Because that's actually a fact, she stated a fact.

I just hate the sensitivity of [blacks] being called a monkey/ape especially if it's one particular target as opposed to the generalization of the entire race. That was the majority of this problem. They saw "Planet of the Apes" and immediately went to "Apes, black, racist!" I only saw a brief shot of this lady so I don't know what she looks like off top but, if she looks like a primate, I don't think it should matter what color her skin is. I can't sit here and act like the funniest meme I associate GW Bush with wasn't the side by side chimp comparisons. So that's fine, but you can ruin several lives if you do it to someone black. That sheeit's irritating as hell. Double standards of equality in a nutshell. You wanna treat being called an ape like being called a n****r and they're not the same sheeit. I don't give a good gaddamn about connotations of the past, but of course I don't speak for anyone but myself

I'm not seeing what actually prompted that tweet, just the tweet itself. If that one by itself is what caused the cancellation and there weren't obvious racial terms in lead up to that, I can definitely see why all of the headlines say "racist" but honestly I don't think you can see it that way unless you tap into your inner racist which, it's 2018, everybody's inner racist is sitting on their shoulders rocking on their heels like they're ready to jump in-between those double dutch ropes. With that being said, "if you can't say anything nice", especially when you just had your career revitalized like that, then you should be more than aware in the current climate that you have your free speech, but it can cost you a great deal. These dumb ass celebs should KNOW THIS SHEEIT BY NOW, so it shocks me that it shocks THEM that the backlash is so great.

*Censored*...ing... THINK... about what... you... post... BEFORE, NOT AFTER, be-FORE... you... post. Your apology doesn't mean a gaddamn thing in 2018. 2017 has taught these fools NOTHING. So stupid. I hate to say that comedians should just stop being themselves, that they need to completely tone down everything to PG levels, but that's what you have to do in a position of power, hell, even in many cases when you're just joe schmoe. You say the wrong sheeit and the right eyes see it, you're done, plain as, and they should no this by now.

Freedom isn't free. Everything costs. Be prepared to pay.

And I probably should've just put this in the entertainment topic instead of here, but I said screw it because while it isn't US Politics in a sense, it is business politics within the US. Large companies do what they believe is the right thing in order to appease their consumer base, even if many of them were looking forward to this show coming back and several people are now out of work (temporarily) because one person said something stupid. Not blaming ABC/Disney for that decision at all. That call was necessary, but the choices leading to the situation were far from it and that's on all sides of it.

Oh and sure porn could be blamed for school shootings. It teaches guys to shoot in girls' (and other guys sometimes, no judgment) faces. That's a legitimate concern

I don't get what's wrong with this, if she knows what she's doing. Kim can't be worse than Trump or his family.

Also, I still say the republican politicians don't really think porno is what causes shooting. They're not that dumb, they're probably trying to deflect.

Isn't her major feat being in a porno?

I would also like to know the point of which you would make it illegal. When is it considered murder to those defending it? Because as I said, if a woman is killed and is pregnant, you will most likely be charged for double homicide. What proof do you have that it's not a living person and beyond what week? Does that baby not have rights before a certain time? My guess is it can't or won't be answered because deep down everyone knows how screwed up it is.

Most people aren't okay with abortions past the first trimester.

I swear you probably thought people want 8 month babies pull out of the womb

What do you mean where are they?

Rhetorical question meant to point out that none of them have either talked to Trump or have been known to talk to him. Don't get me wrong, I understand why people aren't happy about this, and I agree with them, but how can she make prison reforms any worse than what it is?

...

I just remembered she's married to Kanye, and the shit Mr. Slavery-Was-A-Choice tweeted. *Censored*. :\

Apparently intellectuals aren't welcomed into this white house, but complete mental freaks are. Don King, Kim Kardashian, Jeanine Pirro...who's next? Flavor Flav? Gary Busey?

Did the NRA appear yet? Religious evangelicals like Duplantis?

Just to be fair. President Obama brought in George Clooney to talk Middle East policy. It's dumb...don't get me wrong. But just want to make sure some understand this isn't just a Trump issue. This is a "presidents enjoy the company of celebrities" issue.

Of course it's a presidential tradition. Didn't Nixon have Elvis over for some sketchy position as a department of firearms and tobacco agent, and then having over the Beatles as well? And Reagan made Arnold Schwarzenegger some type of fitness ambassador? I'm sure Clinton invited Bono and the like at some point. Not sure about the Bush's but I doubt they invited the likes of which Trump has already had over in just over a year.

Just voted by mail in the California primaries. Not giving the Trump party any support whatsoever. Read up on the candidates from the other parties and made my choice, just made sure to avoid anyone with the word "republican" next to them. Not giving the enablers, aka the current Republican party any votes. Not this year, regardless of California's situation right now the message needs to be sent. Shitty childish people should not be in office.

To be fair, there have been republicans like Schwarzenegger who doesn't support Trump and is critical of him. Though, I can't remember what he did to go against Trump other than talk.

I would be a little careful about your wording. Gun owners don't want to kill anybody. It's just important to protect ourselves from those that mean us harm and the government. Which is why the 2nd amendment is there in the first place. Government tyranny. Just throwing that out there. The way it was worded sounds bad.

There is a certain time it is considered murder and should be though. That's hard to agree on I know but there is a time at the very least. Past a certain point and depending on the situation obviously, it would become less about their right and more about consequence. As Kevin pointed out, there is a point at which that body is not just hers.

I'm not going to get into the whole healthcare thing again right now but I have to ask what you meant by people not thinking for themselves. Are you saying we aren't or just in general?

Well it may have sounded bad because I used the word kill. But I've said it pretty straightforward, included self defense, and didn't insinuate that anybody would want it and like it . But, I guess you understood it.

I've already said everything about body, choice and all that. I don't want to go at it again and debate it since, I feel like I've presented my views and arguments, and it stopped there. But if you wanna talk consequence, I've also said something about that. And we go back again to the point that it has to be an option for it, for numerous reasons, and you've also agreed to some of them. So I've guess we are cool there, and further argument would just be for arguments sake. And I'm strongly trying to go against that and urge people to go against it as well.

Didn't mean to go into healthcare again, especially with you since we had our share of arguments. But yeah, I was talking in general of course.

Nope, and nope. You don't give a *Censored* about it, but it's still a racist thing to say. That connotation is still used all over the world, So you are speaking for yourself, but you don't really have a say in that matter, and yes. That joke was in bad taste and it sounded racist as *Censored*. If she wanted to insult her, she could have found something else.

And it sounds like you are just yelling without understanding any of it. You would have a "Roseanne" show without "Roseanne"? They probably did the right thing. May have acted too fast and too hard, but still. I agree that it shouldn't go without consequences, because people need to learn and think before they say something. And you can't have a person who plays a character in a show with the moral of anti racism then say stuff like that in public. And it's not that big of a show.

In her defense, she admitted it was in bad taste. So yeah, "think before you speak" is right. I don't believe she is really racist as it may sounded on surface level.

Sad that "Roseanne" is cancelled though, personally. Everyone thought it would be something pro trump, yet it's complete opposite. And it does it in a real and tastefull way. I know Roseanne didn't write it, but she has a lot of say and pull in it.

At first I didn't want to believe she was a Trump supporter, it sounded weird, but also kinda made sense  And the revival is actually more than I expected it to be, and the characters are actually affected in a negative way by the state of the country and current administration. Economical situation, pill addiction arc is great, giving jobs to immigrats, racism... And nothing is preachy, it kinda gives you both sides to look at, so you can understand the issue better. Because many people from both sides don't want to understand shit and just yell at eachother. And I'm not even talking about extreme casses.

Apparently intellectuals aren't welcomed into this white house, but complete mental freaks are. Don King, Kim Kardashian, Jeanine Pirro...who's next? Flavor Flav? Gary Busey?

You always sound like you don't want to defend it, but you also sound like you defent it

No it's not just a "Trump issue", but he is again taking things to the dumbest extremes.

This is more than just dumb. I mean, imagine how a talk would go between Barrack Obama and George Clooney about middle east. Or when Barrack Obama had a talk with David Simon about The Drug War (yeah not that big of a celebrity)... and compare that to Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian talking about PRISON REFORM. But to be fair, I think even Kim Kardashian has a better understanding of problems with the system than Trump. And that says a lot.

It's just another thing for publicity for Trump. I don't understand how people actually still take him seriously and are surprised by any of this?

The tweet was definitely in bad taste but I have to ask, does anyone else not see the resemblance? Lol. Race and all that garbage aside...she ugly. Roseanne doesn't have any room though. That bitch is pretty ugly herself and she's always been pretty insane.

Wow.

Who gives a crap really? I don't even find those things funny.

Just because you don't find her attractive doesn't mean she's "ugly". I doubt there is any sense to talk with you about peoples aesthetics. Obviously.

I'm not even gonna go further since I know you wouldn't give a shit. But that wasm't nice, nor funny. Especially coming from an almost 30 year old man. Grow up.

Dude don't be so sensitive. She's a comedian. Her or anyone else could've said it on stage or a Netflix special and only the same usual suspects would've been offended but I guarantee you no one would've batted an eye. Besides I said it was in bad taste. True or not it was mean. And I even said Rosie had no room to talk

I mean, even if there is indeed a resemblance, that's not really the point. It sounded like obvious dog-whistling to me. Who goes on a soapbox (Twitter, in this case) to broadcast their innocent observation that a particular black person looks like a monkey? I don't buy the notion that she's just dumb and oblivious/insensitive to the historical, racist implications of that comparison. And if I recall correctly, this isn't the first time in Roseanne's life that she's publicly said some questionable shit regarding race.

So, either I'm just being too cynical, or everyone defending her is naive as hell. I'd bet my life on the latter.
