Right. A booker would be a damn fool to even attempt to have a male or female hold a title that long in this day and age so it's a waste of time keeping it there.

Don't know where to post this. Thought here would be appropriate.

Last Fall, we shared word that a group of daughters of famous pro wrestlers were looking to start their own promotion - or wrestling league, as DDPs daughter Brittany Page called it.

In addition to Page, Brooke Hogan, Lacey Von Erich, Roddy Pipers daughter Ariel Toombs and Christy Hemme were said to be involved in the project.

Considering the news came via an impromptu TMZ interview, and with the perceived lack of a market for new wrestling companies, many (including yours truly) dismissed the idea. But the women driving the project havent given up and, according to Hogan, their league may be playing in a city near you very soon.

Brooke was at the premiere of Netflixs GLOW earlier this week (she has a small part in one episode of the series), and our old pal Bill Hanstock caught up with her to chat. Among the things they spoke about was the womens wrestling show.

From With Spandex:

...were ... jumping on this female movement, and doing a real female league with fantastic athletes and a wonderful show.

Weve got a roster of 40-plus women, so theres some really incredible talent that weve got.

Were already looking at tour dates in September, so its moving really quickly. [its actually happening] faster than I am ready for, but, hey, hang on for the ride.

She also reveals in the interview that the ladies have partnered with Johnny Cafarella, who was a host and producer for the original 80s Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling and went on to found Wrestlicious, for the project.

Seems like this may actually happen. Will it work? Make money? Last?

40 women, hey? I don't know if I believe her. We'll see if this thing ever takes off.

Sounds indeed interesting! If they pull it right it might indeed become very successfull. :)

I think that most of the 40 women will probably be freelancers (payed by appearance instead of full time) working for the company additionaly to their actuall companies whenever needed.

As first reported by gerweck.net WWE has signed Australian wrestler Demi Bennett to a developmental contract with the company back in April.

She has arrived in Orlando, Florida to start her training with WWE at their developmental facility, the WWE Performance Center.

Demi was apart of the last set of Australian tryouts WWE had in Australia last December. She was scheduled to attend the tryout WWE held in Australia back in 2015 but was told she was too young to participate in it.

She wrestled her last match ever with her home promotion Riot City Wrestling back in April where successfully defended her RCW Women’s Championship against KellyAnne English, vacating the title afterwards.

In a evenly-matched, hot contest for the championship, Demi left nobody guessing as why she has been selected to show the world how good she is. Even with interference from Casey Johns, Demi walked away the winner.

Have to check out some of her stuff. She sounds promising. Can't wait to see her live if she is indeed in the MYC.

Meltzer mentioned during this morning's Observer Radio that the neck injury Io Shirai mentioned as her reason for taking time off and leaving Stardom is legit. Some were thinking it was a work to explain her leaving for WWE. He says it was found that she's had the neck injury since May and WWE found it during medicals in Pittsburgh. Meltzer says that Shirai is still coming to WWE once she recovers, but that it will probably be "quite a while" before she is recovered.

Well there you have it. Could be a long time will we see Io Shirai in NXT/WWE.

Alberto El Patron, f.k.a. Alberto Del Rio, broke up with Paige last night while in Orlando. The couple went public with their relationship in May of 2016, and got engaged last October.

According to a source who saw the breakup, Alberto reportedly said that "enough was enough" and that he reached his limit and knew that it was time to break up.

Earlier in the day, Paige posted photos with Alberto thanking Jeff Jarrett for VIP treatment at Universal Parks, as seen below.
