Undercard Jamoke
I dunno about guys, but recently more often than not I was beginning to feel nostalgia for the 2000s, specifically 2000 - 2009. That decade is beginning to have it's own feel to it now, and I can totally tell when a song, TV show, or movie is from that time period. So what life events, songs, movies, TV shows, products ect. do you fondly remember from that time period?
Generations
Early 2000's had some character, but I think it's mostly due to the 90's finishing up. Mid and late 2000's don't have much nostalgia for me. I feel like that's just the start of culture losing its identity. I guess the Pixar movies are a good example of the 2000's...with the exception of the really early ones like Toy Story and A Bug's Life. 2000 onward is when Pixar started to get the polished Pixar movie feel that they have today. But, again...Pixar was around in the 90's...and they're still putting out movies now. So, there isn't exactly anything that makes it feel specific to the 2000-2009 timeline. Yeah...I don't really have anything that feels unique or specific to 00-09. Video games are probably the biggest thing. PS2/Original Xbox/Gamecube/GBA era. That was a great era for video games. There is definitely nostalgia there...and there is a clear line drawn between that period and now, as well as everything before it. That's the best example I can think of. sam the d00d
I was at a Goodwill looking at books with somebody and I got this huge rush of nostalgia just looking at the covers to these books I'd never even heard of. Just how the covers were designed you could tell they were from that 2000-2005 range. I couldn't put my finger on what aspects set them apart from book covers today, there was just something that was different. I think it's the first time I felt genuine nostalgia. As I'm only 21 I'm really only capable of feeling nostalgia for that era at the moment. For all you older people, is it supposed to feel a little painful? Like for whatever reason it kind of just bummed me out. It felt like I got the wind knocked out of me. Made me miss my old childhood home and the way it used to look. I just find it interesting that it was these books I have no connection to that triggered it. I'll play old video games I played as a kid all the time, I'll watch the movies I loved when I was younger, I'll even go back to the music I like back then but it's always just fond memories with those and not this intense nostalgic feeling. FulGore
I miss cartoons like Franklin. Cartoons now days don't compare to most of the older gems.
Mango kid
Honesty don't really remember anything major in the 2000s coming out and standing out like i can for the 90s 80s or 70s
Muur
Late 90s, early 2000s will be what my nostalgia glasses will be for. PS1, Xbox and all that will be seen as the best thing ever. Which is a bit shit really, especially since games and etc now are just nostalgia pandering this current generation.

Ollie The Magic Bum
What about Social Media as a whole? Or is that more a 2010s thing? MySpace and Xanga were big in the early part of the decade.
maskedmaniac
They were big, but nothing like what FB, Twitter, or Instagram are now. 2010's will definitely be remembered as the decade of social media.
WNX
Xanga, XD woooooow. 00s were simpler times. People weren't nearly as dependent on tech back then even though my 02 schoolyear was the first that I had a mandatory.school-issued laptop. smartphones weren't a thing, the ipod had.just started picking up steam, Cartoon Network was KILLIN it, and YOuTube was only a dream. You.had.to download vids if you wanted to watch them. I remember scattered things, like the feeling I got from reading game magazines. There was an article in EGM about Smackdown! for PSX and I was going on about how realistic it looked. That article is probably the reason why I'm posting here now. The Smackdown series is what drew me to message boards to begin with. Very different time back then, but not a time I'd necessarily like to revisit
Generations
Myspace...what a strange time. Part of me thinks Myspace should have stuck around and Facebook should have never existed. I remember all the customization options for Myspace...it was a pretty cool concept...and it was more about expressing yourself on a personal level, and less about competing with everyone else. I think Facebook is where the "my opinion is better than yours" mentality became mainstream.
maskedmaniac
FB started getting big because it started attracting more "mature" people and the whole making "friends" thing.
Generations
"More mature"...if only they knew. Actually, old people ruined facebook. That's seriously what happened. It was cool in the beginning when it was just people under 30. Once everyone's mother and grandmother got on, that's when all the really stupid spam posts started. All the "one share = one prayer" and stupid chain post shit, and the conspiracy theories and pure garbage. And those memes that are less memes and more just corny toilet humor jokes. Yeah...old people ruined FB.

sam the d00d
The whole culture of Facebook shifted. It's too the point now where if you go on there it's only shared posts. Nobody posts their own shit anymore. I think Twitter and Instagram have everything I used to like about Facebook split between them. I think Twitter is actually pretty fantastic in it's execution. Instagram too. They're conceptually more narrow and focussed then Facebook.
Generations
I still post original shit on FB...but it gets looked over for stupid shit anyway. And the way that FB distributes posts doesn't help at all. Most of what people get on their feeds isn't even stuff from friends...but rather, featured stories and sponsored ads. And when actual posts do get through...yeah, it's just stuff with lots of shares (because that's what they deem "important"). I think people actually do still post original stuff...but that's what happens. None of it actually shows up on your wall. If you click on someone's profile, you'll see what they're actually posting. Aside from doing that...probably not.
.hb
Weird to think that the last 3D Universe era GTA game (Vice City Stories) came out ten years ago. I'm dreading the day that awful early 2000s fashion becomes a trend again. "Futuristic" clothes, frosted tips/chunky highlights, sweatsuits. For the love of god, don't come back. ZEF
I remember rushing home from school in Year 7 to watch the new episodes of X Men Evolution at 4pm every Monday and being so angry if I ever got a detention that day and had to miss it until they repeated it on Tuesday Also, just Toonami in general has a real early-2000s nostalgia vibe to me. ThreeG
I get pretty nostalgic listening to the "Issues" album by KoRn and "Chocolate Starfish..." by Limp Bizkit. 99/01 were some of my favourite years and those albums pretty much remind me of "the good ol days" when you're 12 and naive to the world.
