FulGore
I used an aquarium cleaner, but that didn't give the results I wanted, so I added apple cider vinegar and that did the trick.
Creepy Bro
After getting water in the tank and everything is running, I went with a Hammerhead float algae free glass scraper, because even though they're expensive - they work REALLY well. http://www.marinedepot.com/Algae_Free_Hammerhead_Float_Plus_Algae_Magnet_Floating_Algae_Magnets-Algae_Free,_Sure_Flow,_Sure_Grip-AF65670-FIMTAMCMFM-vi.html
maskedmaniac
Isn't that just a razor blade?
Creepy Bro
Basically, yeah... but the high powered magnet that it's attached to does all of the heavy lifting (i.e. glass scraping) for you. I've used several different razor blades to clean the glass on a fish tank, and the Hammerhead float is the most legit of the bunch. My arms used to go numb after scraping coralline algae from the three viewable sides of a 90 gallon fish tank.
FulGore
My stocking plan is the following. Not all at once, obviously. 5-6 Neon Tetra 5 Black Skirt Tetra 4 Julii Cory Catfish 1 Dwarf Gourami Maybe some Ghost Shrimp. I am still looking for one more showcase fish that does good by itself. FulGore
Ordered this light. It will be here Friday, then I will post a picture of it on the tank.
Creepy Bro
If those are LEDs which light the fixture you posted there, then you should be in for a nice surprise. Their quality is top notch, probably a close second to metal halide bulbs.
FulGore
It is indeed LED. It has a day light, and night light. My brother has one and it makes the tank look fantastic.
Creepy Bro
And not only will LEDs make your display look great, it will also help curb your overall power consumption. Can't wait to see your setup once it's all up and running.
FulGore
I am really excited about it. I have never hadcan aquarium of my own.
maskedmaniac
This is my aquarium. 20 gallon with some mosquito fish, some guppies, one fish that flows in the dark but I can't remember what it;s called, and some small Goldfish that I got after I took this pic. They really put some color into the tank. I'm really looking to get some glowing LED lights for this tank, hopefully the ones posted above are good so we can get a review on them. FulGore
The brand for that LED is Beamswork, if you guys want to take a look at their products. That is a nice tank you have there!
Creepy Bro
Oh, I'm all good as far as LEDs go... the ones I have running in my setup are down in the refugium and for actinic light supplementation with the metal halide lamps that run for optimal coral growth. FulGore
Are saltwater tanks more difficult to maintain than freshwater?
Creepy Bro
Nah, it's not as difficult as I thought it might be... however, there are more water parameters to look out for - that's for sure.
maskedmaniac
Glass bottom fish tanks... always a classic. You mean there are some without glass bottoms?
FulGore
Glass bottom fish tanks... always a classic. You mean there are some without glass bottoms? No. What he means is, you don't have any substrate laid, you're using just the glass and nothing else.
Creepy Bro
No. What he means is, you don't have any substrate laid, you're using just the glass and nothing else. Exactly.
maskedmaniac
Yeah I had some nice green colored gravel but it got all nasty looking after a few months and it was harder to keep the tank clean like that.Every time I moved something inside the tank a bunch of crap would float up from the gravel and make the water look murky. Going with nothing at all makes it easier to keep things clean.
FulGore
I plan on going with flourite in my tank. Especially it being heavy with plants.
