classiq.
Just landed in Orlando! Here are my WrestleMania Predictions: WWE Championship Bray Wyatt © vs. Randy Orton My hope is that this match gets the main event and that Bray gets a substantial title run. This has been the one of the top two storylines on this card and is worthy of going on last. Bray and Randy have built it to that point. WWE Universal Championship Goldberg © vs. Brock Lesnar It took me a while to figure out why this match is for the Universal title, but it makes sense if Brock wins because that means not only does he take Goldberg's undefeated record against him, he also takes his title. It's not going to be a long match, but I recognize that this is a huge match with pretty big stakes for both competitors. Brock emerges victorious and saves face while once again becoming the top Beast and settling the score in this rivalry. WWE United States Championship Chris Jericho © vs. Kevin Owens Aside from Y2J getting back on tour with Fozzy (which makes me think how awesome it could be to have Jericho on stage with the belt around his waist), I love KO as champion. He could do wonders for the US title which at this point is an afterthought when it comes to this match. It's really about the story of these two which I'm not in the least bit sad about. I love the receptions that both these guys get which is going to make for one entertaining match. Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles A match which I was very skeptical about when I read it was being talked about as a possibility. This feud has far exceeded the expectations of most from the war of words in the gorilla position -- an area that never gets seen on TV -- to the excellent backstage mugging, I find myself eating my words. They have established that this will not be a Meltzer five-star wrestling match which is what the fans want for AJ, rather this is a story of one person who has jumped through hoop after hoop for someone else and didn't get to reap any of what was promised to him because he had his opportunity stolen from him in the blink of an eye. That's pretty powerful. I'm ready for this one as the build to it has been incredible. Non Sanctioned Match Triple H vs. Seth Rollins So it has come to this. An alliance that has crumbled to the ground after years of success. I'm happy it took this long to formulate after Triple H handed Owens the title in August. It's made me -- and Seth Rollins frankly -- thirsty to get some answers. Now finally see it reach its climax and one last question still looms: will Seth get his revenge? That is loaded question indeed because this being "non sanctioned" and all, there is the strong possibility of some shenanigans going down with Samoa Joe not being too far away from Triple H's side. I hope any extra curriculars that go down don't take away from this match's intensity. Because a lot of times run-ins and what-not distract me from the real critical issue which is a fight between The Game and The Architect. That's what's advertised and that's what I wanna watch. Although, there is still a certain returning Superstar who still hasn't shown (one of) his face(s). The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns Like him or not, Roman is a good opponent for The Phenom because of his brawling style. It's going to be a huge test for Roman to carry much of this match, but he seems ready for it as he was very effective in his in-ring promo on Raw this week which was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the show. He said what needed to be said to create heat on him and the crowd was happy to oblige. This is a supremely important match for Taker on multiple fronts. One of course is to solidify that even though he's not around often, this is still his yard and anyone that is a threat to it is a dead man walking. Also in a non-kayfabe sense, this could be the final time we see Taker as rumours have suggested. Whatever the case, if this is indeed his last go at Mania it would be great to see him go out with a major W. I will feel this match could still go either way, just because it's Roman Reigns, but a loss for The Big Dog would also make sense if the plan is to turn him into a full fledged heel (which is something I'd like to see but doubtful). I really hope that Taker's one loss at Mania doesn't turn into two. There is still a lot of significance in his win-loss record the way it is now and it really gets muddied if there should be another blemish. The fans will be on the edge of their seats for this one either way for various different reasons and whether the smarks know it or not, it's because of Roman Reigns. Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match - Raw Women's Championship Bayley © vs. Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax You may think that just because I have made it well known that Bayley is my favourite wrestler I have chosen her to win this match. But you'd be wrong. What better way to establish Bayley as a credible champion than to have her beat the three biggest challengers in one match? No one expects her to do it which works in her favour as the underdog champion that she has been booked as. What's more is that we could finally see Sasha's heel turn which would be epic to see happen mid-match. Perhaps with some kind of mistake between the both of them where Bayley turns to Sasha and is like "dude, what was that?" Sasha then gives Bayley a cheeky grin and immediately attacks her. Bayley could then realize that what Charlotte was saying at Raw this week was true and continue the story where Bayley now must overcome these insurmountable odds. If the title should change hands I wouldn't have a huge problem with it being on Nia. She's been working extremely hard to get to this position and I would be happy for her to have her moment, but I wholeheartedly believe that Bayley will somehow retain in same way the way that she has endeared the fans. With heart, passion, skill and yes, a little luck. Mixed Tag Match The Miz & Maryse vs. John Cena & Nikki Bella Don't get me wrong, I'm cheering for Miz and Maryse, but because this is the predictions thread I have to admit that I just don't see it in the cards. It would be one of those moments where I'd be thrilled and shocked at the same time if they beat the babyfaces. When I first saw rumours of this match I was intrigued because I knew that Miz and Cena would do a sublime job of getting this match over, and that's exactly what they've done. The Miz still doesn't get the credit he deserves for being the incredible hype man that he is. He has an uncanny ability to make the crowd feel exactly what he wants to progress a story and if you take that with Maryse's real life beef with Nikki it makes for a compelling entertainment. That's precisely what this match is going to be about and I am going to enjoy the crap out of it no matter what. Even if it ends in Cena proposing to Nikki after winning the match. That would definitely be a WrestleMania worthy moment. Intercontinental Championship Dean Ambrose © vs. Baron Corbin This is my guy BC's time to shine. After winning the Andre last year he can really make a statement by winning his first ever singles gold at this year's WrestleMania. I have been surprised that this feud hasn't gotten the TV time I think it deserves as I feel like it is flying way under the radar. What would make it less underrated would be if they added a No Holds Barred stipulation to it (and if history tells us anything it can still happen at the 11th hour). Baron has looked like a legit threat after his awesome mafia style beatdown on Dean where Ambrose ended up getting crushed by a forklift. I basically stood up and cheered while watching that at home. Corbin is on a massive roll right now and I'd be extremely surprised if that doesn't lead to him winning the title on Sunday. Triple Threat Ladder Match - Raw Tag Team Championships Gallows & Anderson © vs. Enzo & Cass vs. Sheamus & Cesaro The time is right to have Zo & Cass finally become tag champions. As much as I enjoy Big Gal & Andy, I am really looking forward to two things on Sunday: One, seeing which kicks will Enzo be rockin and two, being a part of the eruption of noise that happens if he and Cass are able to tear down those belts. Cruiserweight Championship Neville © vs. Austin Aries Aries has been arguably the hottest wrestler in the company since leaving the commentary booth. I don't see why he doesn't leave Mania as champion in a match that could easily wind up stealing the show. It's sad for the both of them that this match can't be on the main card but I love that Aries challenged Neville to go out and take whatever time they have and make a statement for the division and prove that the Cruisers aren't just about flips and gimmicky nonsense. I hope that they draw more eyes to 205 Live by showing that they can wrestle with the best of em regardless of weight class. SmackDown Women's Championship Naomi Alexa Bliss has been absolutely incredible since being drafted to the blue brand. She is worthy of everything that she's gotten, I just cannot say enough about her stepping up her game. However, after this Tuesday's SmackDown Naomi was on fire with the crowd reaction during her return. And it was genuine happiness as well which is pretty rare but amazing to hear, especially after giving up the title. Vince cannot ignore the reception she got which should catapult it into a title win. As for surprises, I do not expect Asuka to debut despite what the rumours say because this match could suffer from a time crunch being on that it's on the kickoff show. Save her for another time. Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Braun Strowman EDIT: It's Braun's to lose at this point if not for some crazy surprise entrants. ORIGINAL: The Andre hasn't been meaningful since the first year it was introduced. The people who have won it have gone on to do... not much. This year it can change. Harper, Strowman, and Zayn are all on complete fire right now and will have big performances in the BR. I don't expect a lot from this match and I question its purpose on the card at all other than an excuse to fill in blanks. I feel that the time could be used for other matches and stories.
