Miami Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez died this morning in a boating accident.

Man, this sucks. He was a great pitcher and amazing talent. Condolences to his family. RIP.

Dee Gordon took his first pitch from the right side as a tribute to Fernandez, he then hit a home run to end his at bat. He was totally overcome with emotion walking to the dugout. So sad.

This situation sucks. Jose was a good guy, and a incredible talent. But he played the game with such a child like attitude he was fun to watch. He came from humble beginnings and wasn't tainted by money. Just a guy legitimately enjoying the game for what it was.

I didn't see this, but if I did knowing that he batted from the right side of the plate as a tribute to Jose and then hit a homerun, it probably would've gotten to me too.

This situation is so sad. Jose hadn't even reached his full potential and was still one of the best pitchers in the game. But besides the sport everything I have read and heard about him is nothing but positive.

It's just terrible.
