I look at different images and sometimes video (rarely) of different people for references. Then I try to look for not only certain angles of the faces but I try to look for pictures that capture the character or should I say the personality of the wrestler and their interesting facial features, and try to build that if possible. Then when its looking pretty decent I play test it, some quite a lot, then I really look it over to see if there is anything more I can do, like a unique hair mod or checking if the size and position of the ears are where they should be in relation to the position of the eyes.

I don't really follow a formula, sometimes I will just throw an attire together and work the body dimensions quickly before the face (starting to do that more now) other times I will be just working the face. I'm not always happy with the result but it helps to take pics and get some feedback.

I go on google images. There's a big supply of images there. I usually find a picture that shows the person's frontal face, then a photo of them from the side view. There are usually about 3-4 images that I keep coming back to, but if you find a picture you're looking at doesn't really help, just scroll down and look for a better reference. Say you're making someone and 1 picture from the side view helps with the head depth, but not with the nose length. Then it's a good idea to look for a new photo. After a little bit you'll get the hang of it.
