I have over 6000, but I'd still feel that it'd be really watering down the meaning of those mentions when I name like 100 tbh. UNLESS there's an order. None of this "No particular order". 'cause obvs then there's still a clear top ten.

Megadeth - Rust in Peace

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill

Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP

Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy Up the Girl

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

No Doubt - Tragic Kingdom

There is a huge difference between loving an album and it being one of your absolute favorite albums though imo.

Agreed. I think it's a bit lame to just submit a list of, like, 10+ albums. Surely one can challenge themselves and narrow down that list a bit further.

I think people should be able to do what they want without everybody over analyzing stuff. Not EVERYTHING has to be debated. If people want to list more than 10 albums as their favorite they can. Especially when it's a favorite album for each artist. If you have 10 favorite artists and list one album for each then boom. I don't get the issue tbh.

^You can do whatever you want, sure, but it devalues the topic, in my opinion. It's a Favorite Albums of All Time list, not an Albums You Really Like a Lot list.

Pretty much anyone could list dozens of albums that they love. It's more interesting to see people put some serious thought into it, and really narrow it down.

Grateful Dead - American Beauty

The Doors - The Doors

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall/Thriller/Bad

Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid M.A.A.D City

Madvillain - Madvillainy

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions

Danny Brown - XXX

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels

Explosions in the Sky - Earth is Not A Cold Dead Place

Honourable mentions to RTJ2 and To Pimp A Butterfly which I love but it's too soon to say if they're all time favourites.

Also, I agree with Purple Rayne. I just don't think a person can really have dozens and dozens of all-time favourites.

They can and they do. Just because you guys may restrict yourself musically doesn't mean many of us have too. Maybe you guys don't listen to as much music as some of us do? Idk.

I don't think you understand the point they are (and to an extent, I do too) trying to make. Naming 50 albums as ALL TIME FAVORITES devalues the special place a favorite of all time would have. And that is whether you know 100 albums or 1000s. Though I do think the amount of music one knows and regularly listens to can contaxtualize higher numbers than 10.

My digital collection is 36,445 songs...at a staggering 151 Gb (too much to even fit on my classic ipod)...then I have random cds and vinyl. I have at least 150-200 vinyl records, and I'm always expanding...

Then you've got people who have entire rooms or garages full of cds and vinyl. If you enjoyed music as much as the people like that do...then you'd be able to list as many "favorite albums" as you damn well please.

I respectfully disagree. I don't think it devalues anything.

At least to me it's saying, while yes I love this album, enough to call it an all time favorite of mine, there's nothing setting it apart from these other 50/100 or whatever albums I also really love. And that devalues the meaning of calling something an all time favorite IMO. Like someone else said, if you ranked them or set apart a top so many and then listed a lot more it'd be fine. But just straight up saying a shit ton of albums are your supposed all time favorites makes me think your list is a little less meaningful. I mean I could've listed dozens of albums that I absolutely love too, but I would've felt wrong grouping them in the same category as my absolute top 5 all time, possibly life changing, albums for me.
