Dude was a pioneer and at times the company made some questionable choices but overall from a fun perspective, Nintendo has always been my number one gaming company. They may have some kiddie games at times but it's cool because it's about fun. And boy did he give us some fun memories. I really cried this morning as I played No Mercy on my N64. God, this sucks.

I know the rule is "never read youtube comments", but some of the stuff people are saying just... makes me sick.

Like what? That Nintendo will be a better company without him or something?

Yeah, stuff like "good that he's dead, now maybe nintendo can get back on track" and "lol, finally, cut the head from the snake".

Just horrible shit that shows no respect whatsoever to the deceased.

I don't know. I honestly don't understand how any gamer couldn't have nothing but love and reverence for the man. He helped make my childhood less of a nightmare than what it was. But everyone seems to want to blame him for the actions of the other old men who don't understand gaming in nintendo, which just drives me nuts.

Hope he rests in peace, and I hope his passing was painless.

To answer your question, Gen, I doubt it. They probably did, but hate Nintendo cause they don't cater to them no more. It's things like that is what makes me feel ashamed of being a gamer. Sony and Microsoft made their condolences to Satoru Iwata cause he was an honorable man that wanted to make gaming fun. Sure, some of the things Nintendo did were questionable, but at the end of the day, having fun with games is what matters the most.

Sometimes I truly believe that if they disabled comments, completely disabled the comment section of YouTube, that website would be a thousand times better. But of course people would be like, "YouTube are a bunch of communists for disabling the comment section. It's my right to say......". And that right there is what pisses me off about some people. It's my right. Yeah, but a good 80% of the time, they ABUSE that right. And when something bad happens to them, they'll be the ones begging for sympathy. Well they won't get any from me, I'll tell you that much.

I don't normally comment on celebrity deaths outside of wrestlers I idolized, but this one got up on my social media fast. He changed the world quite literally with Nintendo and the insane amount of iconic games he's captained. I sit here at work today hoping to make even an eighth of an impact this man made for the better.

Thank you Mr Iwata, we can never forget you.

I stopped playing Nintendo after the Nintendo 64, but that system alone ranks up as probably my all-time favorite/most fun had system ever. Not sure if he was in charge back in those days, but if so more respect to him. RIP.

I got really into Nintendo with Gamecube. Great stuff on that system (which was right around the time that Iwata took control)...then I hated Wii pretty severely. And now I love the Wii U (probably more than any Nintendo system ever).

Eh while we may not be the pychopaths like some people claim, the gaming community can be toxic as all hell, though I guess this is more just stupid assholes. As far as their games and systems go, I really hope they don't change.

Those are just SOME of the assholes who want bigger shooters and shit to come to Nintendo. Or more third party support. That pisses me off that people would be so cruel to this man. :( I'm really not taking this well at all. Because Nintendo hosts some of my most dear and precious memories.

Yes let's take Nintendo, who is unique in comparison to Sony and Microsoft in a special kind of way,

and make it similar to the latter. I.E: make it a carbon copy of them. You have no idea how much that pisses me off whenever I see that. "We don't want unique, we want generic carbon copies of lame ass shooters." Go screw yourselves.

One of the reasons why I can never get along with my siblings when it comes to gaming. They're the same entitled 'gamers' that could care less about quality games and care more about how pretty they look on an HD-TV......which they don't even have anyways.

Iwata's passing has got me thinking...I don't know why the Balloon Fight franchise hasn't seen a return. Look at the popularity of something like Splatoon. With online multiplayer possibilities, a modern day Balloon Fight would be some fun stuff. Not to mention, the Wii U has all of these sensors...the tilt sensor, the ability to blow into the microphone...they could do some interesting stuff with balloons, IMO.
