– One of the bigger news items coming out of the weekend was the appearance of TNA’s Ethan Carter III at the Evolve 61 iPPV event. Dave Meltzer spoke about the angle on Wrestling Observer Radio, noting that the angle isn’t designed to be a WWE vs. TNA story, but that it is obviously meant to have an anti-WWE feel to it (with Galloway and Carter noting that they became world champions without WWE, and selling that Evolve is bowing down to WWE and losing their independent spirit). Evolve isn’t isn’t doing anything that WWE wouldn’t sign off on, and Carter (like Galloway) can appear on the shows because TNA allows them to take outside bookings as long as the promotion does not air on US TV. The next part of the story will see Carter and Galloway team and face Johnny Gargano and TJ Perkins on June 10th at Evolve 62.

Ugh. You just know that this storyline is gonna end in a WWE stroke job. No way WWE would sign off on anything else.

...and how would that be bad? EVOLVE and WWE are on the same paige here, so obviously EVOLVE/WWE should win in this storyline o.o

Obviously they should and will win this storyline, but I think they can do it in a way that doesn't de-value EC3 and Galloway, but I don't think they'll take that route. I think it'll be treated like most of the WCW guys who came to WWE after the buyout. Booked as "Yeah you guys are good, but we're better lololololololol"

Nice

I was thinking a bit more about this, I think it's kind of funny that Evolve is his first post WWE appearence given their growing ties and current allegiance with WWE, and given the reasons he left WWE through being frustrated with them.

They're obviously going to have to stay away from Gabes usual "wanting to prove themselves without the shackles of sports entertainment and politics" hype that he normally uses for every WWE released wrestler (like he did with PJ Black, Matt Sydal etc)

EVOLVE released the following video spotlighting champion Timothy Thatcher's "crisis" leading into this weekend's live events:

Triple H, during his conference call yesterday, spoke about his working relationship with EVOLVE and other promotions, agreeing with Gabe Sapolsky that they were in uncharted territory, commenting, "It's been a lot of fun and it's been very exciting. Exciting for me, and what I'm doing, to be able to kinda work with these outside groups and get a feel for what's going on outside of us in the industry and sort of support that in a way. I like having that indie undercurrent there to where these guys have places to go....It's been a fun process. I think it's been good for them. I think for EVOLVE, for Progress, for Rev Pro, the opportunity to do those things have been huge....It's been a really unique and exciting process but we're also breaking new ground, I see Gabe [sapolsky] says it a lot, he never knows what the next day is going to bring for him in this thing because we are breaking new ground, I'm constantly thinking of "hmmm, what if?" Right? We think about it. We think it through. Think about what would work or not and go from there. So where this all goes, it'll be interesting to see. I'm excited about it."

I wonder if Triple H has had any conversations about joining Sapolsky's old Sabu Fan Club. Probably not!

WWNN's Sal Hamaoui has been teasing the debut of "WWNStudios" soon. I am assuming this is the re-boot of the WWNLive website.

EVOLVE will be running a matinee event prior to the NXT Takeover show on 8/20 in Brooklyn, running at Saint Finbars Roman Catholic Church (138 Bay 20th Street) in Brooklyn, New York. I've actually been the venue as Tommy Dee's promotion ran there back in the 1990s. There should be some additional information about the show now. The venue is about 30 minutes from the Barclays Center with a short walk and ride on the D train. Tickets go on sale Monday at www.dgusa.tv.

So Cal Val and Andrea are done here for now as Tony Nese's promo last week was set to end that association and put him in a new direction as he heads into the WWE Cruiserweight Classic. There are no current plans for them.

Caleb Konley, who signed with TNA, could always be back down the line but there are no firm plans and the company wants to focus on those who are most likely to be on WWE radar.

EC3 may have finished up this past weekend as well. The idea is that if he doesn't come back, they've blown off his storyline but left it open to where he could return even more pissed off to try and strike at EVOLVE.

Darby Allin got great marks over the weekend and is expected back.

Coming off the heels of Paul Heyman offering Will Ospreay an EVOLVE deal at last night’s one man show in London, WWN Live has issued the following:

The mind-blowing 2016 continued yesterday. In an unprecedented move, Paul Heyman offered Will Ospreay a contract to join EVOLVE Wrestling during his “Inside The Ropes” live talk show in London. This was a complete surprise to Ospreay and reduced the young sensation to tears. The roots of this moment started after Heyman personally invited Ospreay to the event on Twitter. WWN VP Of Talent Relations and Heyman protégé Gabe Sapolsky then extolled Ospreay to “The Advocate.” Heyman, seeing a perfect match between EVOLVE and Ospreay, developed the idea for this one-of-a-kind contract presentation. The result was another Heyman orchestrated unforgettable and business changing happening. What’s next? Stay tuned….

Following the news last week of Paul Heyman offering Will Ospreay an EVOLVE contract, PWTorch.com is reporting Ospreay has signed an exclusive US deal with WWNLive to join the EVOLVE roster.

PWTorch is saying WWNLive will pay for Ospreays work visa, and he will join the roster for dates when his international schedule allows it. Ospreay has an exclusive international deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and will be able to work some US independent shows depending on WWNLives booking arrangements. He wouldnt appear for Ring of Honor, however, because of the WWNLive deal, even though NJPW and ROH have a working relationship.
