Thought it.was Last Jedi because of the whole balanced force thing. No Jedi or Sith but.finding something inbetween. The idea of the "Jedi" dies here just as the idea of the Sith prolly died with Sidious. Snoke might not be sith

Fairly sure Snoke isn't a Sith. He has just studied the dark side of the force. He's not called "Darth" either which hints at him not being a true Sith. I believe all Sith had the name - right from Darth Plageuis the wise. (who was so wise he taught his apprentice all he knew, and didn't once think that might be a bad career move)

Not all siths were Darth. Most yeah but there has been a couple of siths and apprentices with their own names.

Although not too sure in the new cannon

Since Darth Bane, there's only ever two Sith at a time, a master and appertience. People like Ventress (although she aspired to be) and the Inquisitors in Rebels are not real Sith.

Exactly, they are just Dark side followers. The same way Donnie Yens character in Rogue One was a light side follower/worshipper.

Im glad that in the new canon they are having more than just Jedi and Sith, with things in between.

Very interesting film

That's it? Your only thoughts are those 3 simply words? Sounds like you didn't really enjoyed it or are nixed on it

It was a lot to digest. I'm watching it again later today and will settle on a overall opinion.

The movie was a lot of fun.. and very interesting.

I keep seeing all the Last Jedi no spoiler reviews popping up in my YouTube feed so I know it's that time. Dunno when I'ma get to see it but I'm prolly gonna avoid this thread too until I do and cross my fingers that I'm in the comment section for something completely unrelated and don't see "Ahsoka is Rey's mother" or some bullsheeit like that

Well I enjoyed Fantastic Beasts 2.

Likes;

The idea that Rey and Kylo are two sides of the same coin, together bringing balance to the force without actual Jedi or Sith mucking it up. I guess this will change, but they needed to address that the Jedi were a militia in the prequels (by the end of their dominant existence) and not just a peaceful religion. Plus it was nice to see that the dark side message of the film was to forget your past and not murder everyone and their family. There was a nice amount of middle ground with the Force in this movie.

Reys parents being nobodies. Breath of fresh air.

Emo old Luke. I loved the reveal that he tried to kill Kylo to prevent him from getting more dark side power.

Yoda scene was great. I loved that they used the original puppet and it made me giddy.

Snoke was cool for a little while.

Snokes guards were dope.

Dislikes;

Pretty much everything else.

Finn and the new girls side plot. Pointless, cringe inducing and boring. I hated her face and hair so much.

Laura Derns character was pointless.

Leia floating back into the ship from the vacuum of space. I dont care if it was the Force, it was dumb.

The casino planet which descended into a Fantastic Beasts Harry Potter movie.

Too much comedy. Some of it was funny, but there was too much of it.

Although I understood Snokes death, it was too early.

Same with Phasma, although I theorise that her death may be premature due to scheduling conflicts with Game of Thrones.

Porgs.

All I'll say is that my mouth was agape for not one, but several moments in the film. The story constantly went in directions I wasn't expecting.

Okay that and I marked the *Censored* out for Yoda. Not obnoxiously, but as soon as those little ears came into frame I had a huge stupid grin on my face. And it looks like they used a puppet! No shitty, ugly looking CGI Yoda, but the REAL Yoda. CGI Yoda is #NotMyYoda

holy *censored*ing shit this was a great watch

- unexpected turns everywhere

- I don't know how to feel about the way they did Luke's "death". I mean it was kinda poetic but idk lol. Though I guess he could reappear to Leia(?)/Rey/Kylo as a force ghost like Kenobi and Yoda did to him

- major swerve was Leia not dying lol. Also SHE USED THE FORCE!!

- YODA

- the side story with Finn and Rose went a bit too long imo. I didn't hate it but eh. Also the casino shit was too earth-ish? Also that wood pecker-ass kiss was unexpected lol. Her friend that died at the beginning was cute tho

- so is it Reylo or Finnrey

- Snoke was a bitch lmao, we never found out more about him. I marked out hard when Kylo killed him though, and the wide shot of him and Rey turning around to fight was *censored*ing beautiful with the red walls.

- they wasted Phasma :(

- *Censored* I hope Kylo was lying about Rey's parents, I still wanna think they're siblings, especially with the mind connection thing (Snoke said he was the one connecting their mind but they did it again even after his death soooo) (Luke and Leia did it too so that kind of proved it more to me)

- though I guess Rey's parents being nobodies (damn, everyone's bad at parenting in this saga lol) is significant because it means anybody can be a powerful force user/Jedi, not just passed down across a bloodline, which also connects to the last shot of the kid from that planet

- top 3 Star Wars saga films imo

Rey and Kylo arent siblings. You dont think Han or Leia by now would have said something to her? Especially at the end of this one with Leia. They have a connection through the force, yes Snoke might have established it, but the Force willed them together. The two are the same person. Just one dark and one light, and that will probably change in the next film.

I love the idea that the Force gave life to them at the same time, just put in the bodies of different mothers and to go their own path.

Can we stop with her parents now pls.

Okay I lied. I came back because of a Facebook post my girl read to me from a former coworker, which I initially ignored but having not read/watched any non-spoiler reviews I don't know how to take it especially since you guys seemed to like it.

Basically he said something like "Well guys, I think I lost my love for Star Wars today" and when somebody asked him was it really that bad, he replied with (and I'm putting this in a spoiler tag because I don't know if this is representing his disappointment or if this exists in the film itself)

Do you remember Jar Jar Binks?

Was there something that bad in the film or is he overreacting?

If he's talking about Porgs, he's overreacting. I mean they are annoying but not to that level and it's just whatever

I can understand not liking stuff with certain characters but eh, to me overall this movie is everything I love about Star Wars.

Space battles, certain character moments and light saber battles were awesome and visuals were amazing for the most part.

Definitely looking forward to Episode 9 and Rian Johnson's extended universe trilogy
