Major Name Rumored For Impact Wrestling's Slammiversary XV

It's rumored that the surprise guest that Jeff Jarrett has been teasing for this year's Slammiversary is NBA legend, Shquille O'Neal.

If that is to be believed then it would be a big scoop for Impact Wresting. Shaq was set to face Big Show at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando when plans fell through.

Slammiversary XV will be the first pay-per-view for Impact Wrestling in 2017. There are seven matches confirmed for the show, including the main event between Bobby Lashley and Alberto El Patron to unify the Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship and the GFW Global Championship.

Slammiversary XV will be held at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida on 2nd July 2017.

Jeff Jarrett just sold himself... to himself!

The following was issued today by Impact Wrestling:

IMPACT Wrestling Acquires Global Force Wrestling

NASHVILLE | TORONTO – Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions LLC, a subsidiary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment Corp. and parent company of IMPACT Wrestling, announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Global Force Entertainment, LLC d/b/a Global Force Wrestling.

Jeff Jarrett, the founder of both IMPACT Wrestling and Global Force Entertainment, will join Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions as a member of its board of managers, equity owner and Chief Creative Officer.

“We are thrilled to be joining forces with Anthem as a partner to build the business,” said Karen Jarrett. “This partnership will be complementary of our strengths and bolster our capabilities to grow the IMPACT Wrestling brand. Ed Nordholm as President and Jeff Jarrett as Chief Creative Officer make a great tag team”

“We are excited by the progress we have made with IMPACT Wrestling since acquiring the business in January,” said Ed Nordholm, president of Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions. “Jeff and his team have been instrumental in this success and we are pleased that we have reached an agreement on the basis of which we can combine our businesses to continue to grow. Slammiversary XV will be a fitting occasion to bring the promotions together and merge the titles under the new IMPACT combined belts. By combining our resources and talent, we can produce the best product for our global audience.”

Jeff Jarrett just sold himself... to himself!

Jarrett is the founder of Impact, but not the owner of it. Anthem owns Impact...and now they own Jarrett's other company (GFW) as well. So...joke aside, he's not selling himself to himself. This is basically just Jarrett tapping out and accepting that he's never been able to successfully run a wrestling promotion, so he's buying back into being the on-air personality of one.

Must feel pretty strange to know that you created something, but failed to keep it alive...and now you just work under the umbrella of someone else with your name slapped on it. That's like building a house with your bare hands, and then someone coming in and saying "thanks for building this awesome house...I guess you can stay in the guest room".

Guest Fight Me.

Shame Spud can't use his Smashing Pumpkins theme anymore for obvious reasons. :(

Damn, should've saved this match for Sunday.

Guest Fight Me.

Fight Network's Top 5 Slammiversary matches.

Does anyone know if Slammiversary this year will be outside of the Impact Zone this year? The big crowds from 4-1 makes me so sad for them. :(

Guest Fight Me.

So I'm guessing all the TNA titles are being retired on Sunday and probably why the Impact Grand title isn't being unified with the Nex*Gen title.

It was announced previously that Anthem Sports had made the decision to acquire Global Force Wrestling. More information was announced today by the Tennessean. Anthem has made the decision to rebrand the wrestling promotion under the GFW name, but the weekly wrestling program on Pop TV will continue to be called Impact.

Jeff Jarrett, who launched TNA Wrestling 15 years ago and Global Force Wrestling 3 years ago, will head the creative team of the new GFW. This move will help to distance the company from the legal issues that surrounded TNA under the leadership of Dixie Carter. Another reason for the rebranding was the double meaning of TNA, according to Anthem EVP Ed Nordholm indicated, as it was a turnoff for marketing partners.

The company recently completed a tour of India which resulted in the company’s Youtube channel having more hits from India than from the United States. The company has goals for both The United Kingdom and India markets to partner with local promotions and cultivate new content.
