Abilities, Skill Sets and Grapple Move Slots

Can anyone give my dumb ass a run down of Abilities vs Skill Sets? Such as how many slots we're allowed for each? Or how many grapple move slots we actually have to use? Is that information available yet?

Trying to mock-up a few character movesets in preparation of day 1 caw making, but I just don't know where to start in relation to the changes,.

Skill sets: Allows the player to use specific actions during matches including but not limited to OMGs, diving moves to the outside, and removing the turn buckle. We're allowed up to sixteen slots for each and possibly even more than that.

Abilites: Mostly stat boosts and "consumables" that go into effect when certain conditions are met, for example one ability allows to inflict more damage when fighting outside the ring, an allows tag team moves to do more damage and an other that allows your manager to distract the referee a certain number of times before getting ejected. We're allowed up to 6 abilities per character but can also level them up to 3 times to get even bigger stat boosts/number of consumables.

I think abilities modify certain stats and actions. You can have up to 6 abilities and each ability can be one of 3 levels.

Skill sets are like abilities from last year. For instance, hammer throw is a skill set. Most say the max is 16 per wrestler (Cena) but I counted 18 on one of the Youtube channels (Cena's skill sets).

In the 2k forum, Wezi said that in the build he played there might be as many front grapple moves as last year. Limb targeting modifier is also there.

Grappling might work like this after the chain wrestling phase. Don't quote me on this. It's just a guess.

Pressing x with a direction yields 4 instant moves. I'm not sure if there is a modifier or groggy state.

Pressing x by itself brings you into a clutch state like last year's game. I think it was said from someone who played it that this grapple state can lead to four (?) different states, each with four moves.

In addition to that you also have the limb targeting modifier for more moves, so it probably works the same as last year. Limb targeting is activated by pressing R2, I think.

The information is in the 2k forum. The info is not official, though.

The abilities need to be leveled up? For some reason I thought we could choose the level we need for a specific ability.

That's probably gonna be the case in MyCareer.

Well then I suppose we should get a diva my career too

He means with MyCareer mode CAWs. Normal CAWs outside of the mode will probably be freely editable like the last couple of years.

But if it's a normal character, leveling up is impossible

You will likely be able to freely change their abilities as you see fit, and if not, they will probably have the Accelerator which would probably allow us to change them at least.

Better not THQ us. Always thought the accelerator was extremely stupid.

I'd rather they ''THQ us'', i.e. charge us for features THQ used to charge for, than for 2K to *Censored* up and remove things all together because it doesn't fit into their slapass new engine. I'm not running all CAWs through NXT MyCareer Mode just to level their asses up. I'll gladly buy season pass with accellorator and unlock everything included again.

I'm sure 2K wouldn't be stupid enough to bring back the wrongs of SvR 2008, I believe they allow to edit players in the NBA games anyway, so I doubt that's going away. Only characters you create inside MyCareer will have to level up.

Wouldn't removing everything also be a THQ move?

Exactly. The accelerator was only like a buck or something anyway I'm pretty sure.
