So guys...do you think that GTA V didn't live up to its hype?

To sum it up, almoooost. They were so damn close to meeting the hype and out-of-this-world expectations that were set against them; I think the Houser brothers did a *censored*ing amazing job giving us a game we all loved considering how much pressure they were under to deliver.

Right now, I would possibly give GTA V a 9.75/10 and I have yet to try out the Online Mode. Like I said, the storyline feels a little short for a Game that was 5 years in the making and had us all either on the edge of our seats or mad sweating.

However, I would certainly play this more than IV. Just feels more enjoyable, prefer the dynamics of the three protagonists as opposed to only playing as Niko. As to how good the story is, I think it's good. Not really good or great but just good. The actual missions and set-pieces make up for what lacks in the quality of the narrative.

I don't think it lived up to the (stupid, but expected) hype, but it's still the best game ever. Apart from the best graphics for a game this scale, fantastic map, a good story and soundtrack, great mechanics, controls and animations, and three protagonists, there's just so much little things in the game that stop this being just a great game and make it the best. I was reading a thread on gta forums titled "Cool things you didn't know about the game" and there's some cool shit in there you wouldn't even notice, but it's just like the icing on the cake.

Wholeheartedly agreed. There are very few games that come close to the insane level of detail and quality invested into this game and as soon as I gripped my PS3 controller for the first time and played the opening mission; the graphics were breathtaking. You could tell this was a product that was developed with a lot of money.

The misogyny and hyperbolic satire had kind of grown on me overtime. There's not much to complain about GTA V - in fact, I don't really think there's any solid drawback against it. Only stuff they could have added more of in order to make the game even better i.e. a longer story. I only played this in bits and chunks (talking like once or twice every 3-5 weeks) and I still felt like there were a couple of bits missing from making the overall package feel more wholesome.

I will say this, though, the customization and fun factor is much better. And I think that's more to do with the mechanics and side-content, like Sinnerman said, than just Los Santos and its immense scope.

If the DLC is good, and there's some cool variety, then I think it'll make up for the short story.

Along with the casino (and whatever comes with it) DLC, I'd love gang themed and street racing themed DLC, or packs for online.

Low-riders with hydraulics for the gangs, some form of drug related activity that isn't like the lame Gerald missions online, gang fights, random drive-bys and other shit you know.

Some cool FnF/NFS style street racing cars with a lot of mods, nitrous, neons, and custom vinyls would be awesome, though custom vinyls is probably a big stretch

I really hope they give us some new maps eventually like they said. North Yankton for one. Liberty City would probably be easy to add with some little updates. Las Venturas to go along with the Casino shit would be amazing.

Even some alien shit and a jetpack so that the UFO's/mural aren't pointless would be cool. I don't think there's any worry of it straying ito Saints Row territory.

Yeah, I agree. I think that's why I wished the story was longer, tbf. If it wasn't quality, I wouldn't have commented on its length.

Sinnerman: I've been rooting for a Las Venturas-themed DLC episode or retail game from R* for ages now. They said there'll be a lot of great stuff to anticipate on the downloadable side of things so, yeah, I'm hoping for more than what we got from Episodes.

Instead of having exclusive missons online - which not everyone can play, or want to play (I'm the latter and well now the former as well as my XBL ran out) - they should've just had them as story missions to pad it out.

I want a DLC story on what happened to Groove Street.

This. I wanna know what happened to Sweet and CJ and how Groove Street in GTA V is Ballas territory and why GSF don't fight with Ballas anymore.

In fact I don't think any of the gangs fight each other anymore (other than a few missions).

It's very unlikely anything like that will ever happen. They're separate universes and the past from San Andreas doesn't exist in this universe.

it's apparently non canon though as they don't exist in that universe and is just an Easter egg.

Rockstar Games make zero sense with that, why put Lazlow in this universe but not other people. Pfft..

It makes a lot of sense.

Lazlow is one of the writers for the game's script (providing lines for NPCs and political satire); and deals with the radio side of development. So, it's natural for him to come back every edition, compared to voice actors for other characters which may cost a lot more and whatever.

Plus, Lazlow isn't that much of a major character, so it doesn't really matter that much.
