The Resident Evil movies are a perfect level of stupid. I've only seen bits and pieces of a couple of them, but the action sequences are the definition of "dumb fun". Watching RedLetterMedia's review of the entire series made me want to watch the rest of them. Look like really good funnybad movies.

Transformers is unwatchable simply because it's a *censored*ing mess of editing and it's shot like total shit. It gives me a headache just thinking about it. I can't watch Michael Bay movies without getting nauseous. I haven't seen one since Transformers 2.

Actually it's unwatchable for more reasons, but the way it's shot is easily the most offensive thing.

Resident Evil is not on that level, it still retains its "fun" element.

Eh, maybe for you. It sure as hell wasn't fun for me watching the last one in theaters. Not saying they aren't aren't fun for other people. But people have different things they see as dumb fun...

I get a kick out of the "Has Fallen" franchise and even Sharknado so I can't judge.

I actually like the Assassin Creed movie...Oh and the Resident Evil ones too

Assassins Creed is on my "one to watch list" as soon as it comes on Sky.

On the subject of Transformers...I honestly can't even remember the last one I saw. I would consider watching the other ones, but I sincerely don't know the difference between them, or which one I left off on. I feel like there are literally 3 or 4 of them that I haven't seen. Same almost goes for Pirates of the Caribbean, but I think I may have only missed one of those. Not sure...

Yeah, you can even "Buy and keep" with Sky (download the movie plus they send the disk) but I'm quite prepared to wait to see it for free, rather than buy something I might watch once.

At least with POTC they don't release a Pirates every year. There have been five of them, but the first came out in 2000/2001? With Transformers they've all bombarded this decade seemingly constantly.

The Island is an underrated Michael Bay film. The Island and The Rock are by far his best films.

I overall liked the first Transformers but the biggest problem with the franchise for me are most human characters and trying to make some of the bots cool, hip and modern.

His humor is basically a cancer.

I'd say Bad Boys is up there.

Friday the 13th: Part 2 wasn't nearly the shit show that Nightmare on Elm Street: Part 2 turned out to be... IMHO, Friday Part 5 and Elm Street Part 2 are equally shitty.

Elm Street Part 2 was *censored*ed the minute they hired a guy who never wrote a script to write one for them.

Yeah, and it definitely showed in the finished product.

Adam Sandler movies being terrible is the furthest thing from unpopular as you can get. That is a very popular opinion.

And yeah, Kevin Smith has never tried to be anything other than stoner humour movies. He's a massive stoner IRL. He fully admits that and even though many of his later movies are shit, he has some damn solid flicks.

Kevin Smith's early films weren't really stoner humor at all. Jay and Silent Bob were pretty minor roles in Clerks and Mallrats. I'd say the first chunk of his work really dealt with young-adulthood more than anything.

I don't get what's up with him now though. It's like looking into the director of What's Eating Gilbert Grape only to find out he's directing A Dog's Purpose. You wonder how we got from point A to point Z. I don't know the guy, but I have listened to some of the longer talks he did and I've listened to some of his podcasts if I'm interested in the guest, I think Kevin's a really great talker. He just seems a lot less mature now. He seems like he got into the weed game in his 40s and is living out his stoner phase as an adult man rather than as a 16 year old like most people do.

I haven't seen his entire filmography. I've enjoyed most of the ones I saw. Clerks was good, overrated, but good. Mallrats was also pretty good. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is a fun movie that falls into that same camp of early 2000s cross country adventure comedies like Bubble Boy and Joe Dirt, all of which are dumb, harmless fun. Clerks 2, was what I'd expect a Clerks sequel to be like. Zack and Miri Make a Porno was a fine comedy movie. I don't think he's great or anything, but he's certainly competent. I don't know what's the deal with Yoga Hosers. It's weird I guess, but I don't know if Kevin Smith is a director that's adequate at providing weird. If anything he's excelled more at providing reality.

Maybe Clerks and Mallrats aren't necessarily stoner humour, especially on the level of a Harold & Kumar, but those movies definitely fit into that style. Rambling conversations, smooth paced, late 90's/early 2000's themes and styles.

Dogma is my favourite. The guys a hack director, but he seems like an awesome person and I like to support him.
