Pedobear — a mash-up of the words “pedophilia” and “bear” — is a depiction the Internet has used to mock and condemn pedophiles. It has commonly been mistaken by authorities as a mascot of men who prey on children. Sandusky, the former assistant coach of the Pennsylvania State University football team, was arrested and charged with 52 counts of sexual abuse of young boys he met through his Second Mile children’s charity during a 15-year period.
