If Edge didn't sleep with Lita would he have became the Rated R Superstar? Would he have even made it to Main Event? If it was the other way around and Matt slept with Edges' Wife (Lisa Ortiz) at the time would it have even mattered? Would Lita have worked for WWE longer? Post your thoughts and discuss... V to I Posted May 12, 2012 Report Share Posted May 12, 2012 Edge was getting groomed to main event back in 2002, and if he hadn't had gotten injured in 2003 he'd probably been maineventing either then or in 2004. The Matt Hardy thing definitely helped him out though, because it showed that he could do a really personal rivalry and that he could be a cold, heartless S.O.B. I don't know if he would have got the "Rated R Superstar" nickname but he started to get his World title push around the same time that Matt Hardy got injured in 2004 if I remember correctly. He even won the Money In The Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania 21 before the real life tension he had with Matt over Lita was mentioned on TV. I think that the 'violence' played the maximum rule in furthering his character. As for the rise to the Main Event... I believe that his whole feud with Matt Hardy (on-air) was just to spice things up. They were holding a real life grudge towards each other at that time, who wouldn't have loved to see that moulded into a storyline. So yeah, I believe that it was just another interesting feud, but irrelevant when it comes to elevation.
