– Ring of Honor employee Kevin Keenan, who did some refereeing and worked the ring crew, was fired this past weekend after allegedly making advances at a female member of the roster. Keenan previously worked for WWE as a referee but was released in 2009.

 

The night before after the TV tapings in Nashville, some of the wrestlers, crew and staff went out for food and drinks. This is when Keenan made the alleged advances, which apparently included spanking her rear end, and it was clear to people there that the un-named female roster member was uncomfortable. People reportedly told Keenan that his behavior was unacceptable and he left the establishment they were at with a few other people.

 

ROH officials were told later that night and booker Hunter Johnston (Delirious) reprimanded Keenan the next day in front of the ring crew, officials and roster members. Johnston reportedly told Keenan that his actions were not acceptable in the ROH locker room and wouldn’t be accepted in any other locker room. Johnston then told Keenan to gather his belongings, leave and to not come back. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter was told that Keenan will no longer be used by ROH.

"Yesterday, WZ was sent the following email recount of the incident by a fellow, anonymous Ring of Honor employee:

 

To Whom It May Concern,

 

I am a member of the ROH crew and was in attendance for both Fridays load in, and Saturdays event. I was troubled by what happened, and while I am satisfied with the action that was taken by ROH officials as a result of the incident, I am writing in hopes you will report on this, and help to ensure that something like this can be prevented from happening again.

 

On Friday night after the load in, several of the ROH wrestlers, staff and crew went out to an establishment in Nashville to eat and have a few drinks. Referee Kevin Keenan, who is new to ROH was present along with several big name talent who were already in town. At one point during the evening, Keenan began making unwanted advances toward a female member of the roster. This female member of the roster made it clear to Kevin that she was not pleased, and felt uncomfortable with his actions. As the night progressed, Keenan continued with the behavior, culminating at one point when he reached out and spanked the female talent on her butt. This occurred in full view of others, and was no accident. It was further made clear to Keenan that his behavior was inappropriate, and at that point he left the bar with a few others and moved on to another location.

 

Later that evening, several ROH higher ups, including Hunter Johnston (Delirious) were made aware of what had happened. They attempted to get in contact with Keenan immediately, but were unable to do so for whatever reason. The following day however, Keenan was approached by Johnston as soon as he arrived at the building. In full view of the ring crew, and several other members of the roster and management, Hunter addressed Keenan in a very forceful manner, and made it clear that his actions were not acceptable not only in Ring of Honor, but in any locker room or wrestling related function. I believe Hunter did this publically in an attempt to send a message to all those in attendance that those kinds of actions would not be tolerated. Keenan was told to gather his things and leave, and not to return to any future ROH events.

 

While I am thankful that ROH took the action they did to deal with the situation, I feel this needs to be reported on so that others can be aware of what happened, and prevent the same from happening in their locker rooms, both with Kevin Keenan and with others who may share the same behaviors. As a female, I was very offended, and in speaking to others that weekend, I gather that they were as well. I was also told that this wasnt the first incident with Keenan, and that he had already been on thin ice as a result of past incidents in his short tenure with ROH.

 

I am sending this anonymously to protect myself from any backlash from other members of the ROH roster and crew. I hope you understand why but please feel free to email me back if you have any questions.

Kevin Keenan statement regarding being fired from Ring of Honor:

 

"I'd like to address the recent story making the rounds regarding my release from Ring of Honor Wrestling. The story that you read on the internet is always better then the actual truth so lets give everyone just that.

 

For the record in my 15 years in sports entertainment/professional wrestling I have never been involved in an incident and in my 30 years of life I have never been in trouble. Yes, I was fired from ROH. Most of you more then likely didnt even know I was there. Apparently, the story making the rounds is that I was reprimanded in front of the locker room, ring crew and told to leave. Over the course of the television show airing from Nashville, TN I can be seen in run-ins and pull a parts. So thats just not true. Lets start at the beginning.

 

After doing a night before load in with the ring crew and setting up the ring a bunch of us headed down to Broadway. Myself and one of the other crew guys stopped in Tootsies. Having a few beers and taking in the live music. We decided to move on to another place. While walking down Broadway we run into a bunch of the guys and girls. One of the girls gave me a hug and I exchanged hellos with a few others. I spot Mandy Leon and smack her on the butt (Yes, thats true. It did happen). She turns around and gives me a joking around shove to the chest and I laugh and we even have a very brief conversation right after. Mandy is someone I have known for a while and has always been a very sweet girl to me. We would send some texts. Send some Snap Chats. Chat when were on the same shows etc. I spot Delirious (Hunter) standing right there. I shake his hand and say hello and we all go our separate ways. About 30 minutes later I get a text message from an ROH official stating please tell me you didnt mess up. Just tell me that. My text back said I know it was stupid. I shouldnt have done it. How do I fix it?. The response I got was idk dude. fix it. Its starting to get to me after this that Hunter is extremely upset. I realize there is nothing else good coming from this night and I cab it back to the hotel for bed.

 

Next morning 11am is call time for the crew at the building. I go about my normal duties and I wait for Hunter to arrive. I spot him. I get him by himself for a second and say Hey, before you get super busy. Can I just have two minutes of your time? his response was Yeah. I actually wanted two minutes with you. I proceed to explain to him that I apologize for last night. Thats not how I act or carry myself as a professional and even though he doesnt know me all that well he has my word nothing like that will happen again. After a few back and forth things between the two of us he says to me Alright, go and do your thing tonight and we can talk later. To me that means go do your ring duties and work your matches and well continue this later. I go and seek out The female talent and we speak for about 10 minutes. I apologize and we talk. She lets me know that shes never known me to be that way and Ive always been really cool. I explain to her Im really not and it will never happen again. Said ROH official walks by me and says Mandy said you guys talked and all is cool. There was a point in time where we didnt know what time Todd Sinclair would get there as Boston had a foot of snow dumped on them and he was delayed. So he sent assignments over the phone. At this point I had matches on the show. Todd gets there about 90 minutes before showtime. Says hello to me but lets me know at the same time Hey, Hunter said there are no matches for you tonight but there are run-ins and pull a parts. I said OK not a problem. I knew right there it was a wrap. So throughout the night on each of the television episodes I do the pull a parts and run-ins as stated above. Show ends I go out and do my ring duties and were almost loaded up in the truck and I get word that Hunter wants to see me. Its about 1:30am at the point. He says Im not using you anymore. No one feels comfortable. I dont stop using people they stop using themselves. I kept it professional and said OK, thank you for the opportunity. I extended my hand. He shakes it and I booked a flight home and went to the airport.

 

While in the airport I run into some people who are killing time before their flight. I tell them the story and their faces just about hit the floor. It was then I was informed that they had just found out at the show that Hunter is sleeping with The female talent in question. I get the same news from a few other people in speaking with some others after I had got home. In 2016 politically correct sports entertainment/professional wrestling what is more of a Human Resources issue to a parent company that is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange? Me joking around with a girl outside a bar who Ive known for a few years with zero intention of harming or disrespecting? Or the 37 year old Booker/Dojo Trainer/Boss sleeping with the 23 year old female talent? The answer is quite simple.

 

In a nutshell my services to Ring of Honor Wrestling are no longer needed because the guy who writes the show is sleeping with the female talent got jealous and wanted to flex some power. If this was the decision made on me who knows what other decisions are being made now or in the future based off the same subject. If I was the office of SBG, INC I would most certainly take a look into this. I am speaking as someone who does not want to come back to Ring of Honor. I was fine before them Ill be fine after them. I am speaking as someone with a great reputation for 15 years in this business and making sure that the truth is there and my name isnt tarnished. Ive admitted wrong doing. I spoke to the parties involved and ultimately was released because I didnt know the personal life of Hunter. This is what happens when you to keep things under wraps.

 

In my opinion, he very much over reacted and Im pretty sure most would agree. Over reaction and making business decisions based on a young female talent that you ar e sleeping with are not qualities of a leader.

The thing that suprised me about this, ROH have females on the roster? :)

Yeah, they upload Women of Honor matches on YouTube every week.
I was joking at the fact that ROHs women's division is lacklustre at best, they made a big thing of reintroducing WOH and it is still meaningless throwaway matches.

 

The only women who's ever been booked well in ROH was lacey and even then it was storyline rather her wrestling

 

As for Kenny Omega look at the dates it's two different matches on two different night's 26th & 27th

I've really been enjoying the weekly shows, ever since I started watching them, again. Except for the Top Prospect tournament stuff. I really couldn't give less of a shit about that. I enjoyed Sabin just being a dick on commentary, refusing to acknowledge Alex Shelley's existence :lol: Young Bucks vs ACH and Sydal, this week should be fun

Man, some of the top prospect stuff is so horrible. The last episode with ANX in the main event vs War Machine sucked.

I could never get behind Delirious. Not even when he had that brief heel stint.

 

Delirious has always sucked. Even in Chikara, he came off as a corny sideshow act. I can't think of a single Delirious match I've enjoyed. The only time I tolerated him was when he was Jimmy Jacobs' gimp in AoTF. He was basically a glorified valet and kept his mouth shut.
