If you had control...

I'm gonna be completely honest here, I had a long winded opening post to this thread, but it was going absolutely nowhere so I decided to "abort the mission". Basically, all I'm asking is if you had control of the WWE (and it was in a what if scenario where the brand split definitively no longer existed, and there was only one world championship) and you had six main event roles to be filled for, let's say, 2012, who would you have in those places?

Face:

1) John Cena - Loved and hated, he is still more popular than anyone else on the roster. Plus, he's too important to be dropped to the midcard anyway.

2) Sheamus - Just make him a little more badass, and I think the WWE Universe will absolutely love this fella. He has shown a lot of personalty as a face.

3) Christian - I know he's only been heel for a few months now, but I think a face turn based on redemption and a long chase to reclaim the world championship would be played out well by Christian (plus, there are rarely ever any long "chases"/build-up storylines for world titles).

Heel:

1) Randy Orton - Either as the violent Viper or Legend Killer (but in all seriousness it would look kinda weird for him to go back to that gimmick), I think Orton is a better bad guy than good. Obviously part of the reason he turned face was because the people had started cheering him a lot, but I think a carefully constructed heel turn could see the people turn against him.

2) CM Punk - Not a popular decision, but I really believe that the WWE can get more out of his straight edge / cult leader gimmick, whether he can get the majority to boo him is another story.

3) Alberto Del Rio - His whole gimmick reeks of heel factors (i.e. the privileged background, smug demeanour and interfering ring announcer), and he's one of the best in WWE right now imo.

Face:

(Joint) 1. John Cena - He's still the guy, and although I would try and keep things interesting by having longer reigns with different people from the ME, Cena would still be considered the guy

(Joint) 1. Sheamus - Best man in the company in my opinion, Sheamus could easily take the place of Cena as top face if Cena ever turned heel

2. CM Punk - He is the Austin to Cena's Rock, and I feel having them both be face, getting on each other's nerves for a long time would create an epic, memorable feud when one of them turns heel, which would probably be Cena, as I feel my list of faces is good enough to not have a big gap left by a Cena turn

Other possibilities: Orton, Kane, Morrison, Mysterio

Heel:

1. Alberto Del Rio - Even though I'm not a huge fan, Del Rio has too much momentum to be dropped and could become the next big foreign heel in the WWE

2. Christian - He has to be the top heel on SmackDown, a run as top heel like Henry is having now can only last so long, and while he'd be up there, Christian takes the cake as THE heel on SmackDown and with no brand split, Christian would probably come second only to Del Rio

3. Mark Henry - He'll still probably be on a run of dominance in 2012 which puts him up here as the third big heel, once he starts to ease out of competition which may very well be soon, it'd be Rhodes next, or Big Show to keep a big heel at the top

Other possibilities: Rhodes, Big Show, Ziggler, Bryan

Face

1. John Cena, realistically if I was in control I wouldn't turn him heel or move him from his position due to money he brings in and he's such a polarising figure I'd want to feature him prominently to exploit that.

2. CM Punk, I'd keep him in his current role of playing up to the IWC-type fans as an antithesis to Cena.

3. John Morrison, with Rey in the twilight of his career I'd move Morrison up to be the High-Flyer-type guy in the Main Event. I'd play up his athleticism and feature him in matches that would show this off.

Tweener

Randy Orton, I like Orton but I feel hes drifted too far away from what made popular, so I'd make more of an Anti-hero and more like he was when he first started getting a positive reaction

Heel

1. Alberto Del Rio, keep on track with what he's doing but take to another level. Go all out with the aristacrat gimmick, have Brodus as his personal bodyguard and perhaps Rosa as his secetary or something and have him pay superstars off to do his dirty work.

2.Christian, have him keep up the whiny, smarmy gimmick and have him manipulate and weasel his way into title opportunites.

3.Cody Rhodes, just like Morrison I'd move him up due to older guys leaving the company. The last two years he's come on leaps and bounds both in ring and on the mic and shown his versatility with two different gimmicks. Given how young he is I think that he'll be very good in a few years time.

I know that this list has some big ommisions and I would have liked to have put in Sheamus and Bryan but I tried to keep within the parameters stated by the OP.

Face

1. John Cena - No matter how much he annoys the shit out of me, he'll always be the man and I do have respect for the guy.

2. CM Punk - Keep him in the voice of the voiceless (WWE make a T Shirt out of this) role and have him lead a group of indy wrestlers.

3. John Morrison - For the reasons posted above me

3. Evan Bourne - Along with Morrison, use Bourne as the new high flyer of the company.

Heels

1. Randy Orton - Put him back in his Legend Killer gimmick which could lead to feuds with Rock, Austin, Booker T, etc.

2. Daniel Bryan - I think this would work well. He came in, won MITB, and then lost it all so he's pissed off at management.

1. John Cena (Face)- Would be pretty stupid to bump the guy down the card. He's got tons of charisma and obviously has a big fan base. Great on the mic, decent in the ring (yeah, I said it).

2. CM Punk (Face/Tweener)- He's already made himself a lot more relevant than he used to be. I don't think his rise is over, I think he's still gaining fans by the hour but he's definitely big so why leave him out? Not to mention that he's one of the top guys in the company both in terms of mic skills and in terms of in ring ability.

3. Randy Orton (Heel)- Yeah, I'll turn him heel. I know that he's got a huge fan base but when you've already got Cena and Punk as your top two figures then a big heel is missing there and I feel like Randy Orton is a lot better as a heel than he is as a face.

4. Christian (Heel)- Another heel who you just wouldn't like to leave out. The guy has mic skills so he can really sell a feud and he has great in ring ability and can carry a match pretty well.

5. Sheamus (Face)- He's one of the up and coming faces. I mean, he hasn't been a face for too long yet you can see that he already has a lot of fans. Terrific worker, especially for his size, the guy can really wrestle and really has the in-ring presence in him.

6. Alberto Del Rio/The Miz/Mark Henry/Wade Barrett/R-Truth (Heel)- Either one of those 5 would round up my 6 superstars. If I have to rank them the it'll probably be Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, R-Truth, The Miz then Mark Henry. Wade Barrett was in line for a big push last year but that didn't go anywhere. The guy's good though. Out of the five, he's got the best mic skills imo and the only ones better or on par with him in the ring is ADR and Truth.

I only put ADR so high because well he's having a breakout year and to just bump him down the card will be wrong. I'm not a big fan of him and I honestly think the guy is boring BUT he puts up great matches. R-Truth and The Miz are both great workers in the mic but The Miz isn't exactly the best in-ring worker. He has improved a lot though. R-Truth meanwhile, is just not exactly to young to bank on for the future. He could always be upper midcard though. Mark Henry is listed just to have someone who looks really intimidating and can really put a beating on the main event faces. Like Truth though, he's not exactly too young.

I guess that's how my list would be.

Too much BS in this thread.

Heel:

John Cena. After his match with Rocky at WM 28, he should turn heel and present the post attitude (PG) era. He should carry the weight of that era on his shoulders as the washed out, despised babyshit we've been fed the past 3 years or so.

Randy Orton. He should simply become the psychopath bad guy like in 2008. thats the only time i've liked him tbh. his legendkiler gimmick mixed with that is perfect for him. it was a huge mistake making him a face/tweener imo.

Also Mark Henry and Wade Barret. They should be heels in the main event scene imo.

Tweener:

CM Punk. new Stone Cold. The maker of a new era for WWE. nuff said.

The Miz and R-Truth. These guys need a serious push. (Im talking about them as individual wrestlers, but keeping their 'stable' intact). They're pretty funny and entertaining imo.

Face:

Christian. He should be given a similar gimmick Rock had back in the days. i remember Rocky saying somewhere that christian should be the next people's champ. with his peeps and all this would be cool imo. Either that, or make him a face/tweener gimmick like Edge had, going crazy over the championships.

Zack Rider. This guy is amazing.

Sin Cara. This guy should be a mysterious great wrestler that rarely speaks or never. heh. anyway he's awesome and deserves the main event.

Face:

1)Daniel Bryan- A ruthless submission specialist gimmick. Arrive, kick ass, make him tap and leave. I think he should stay silent aswell. Don't get me wrong, Daniel Bryan can cut a decent promo when playing the agressive guy but I think silence would add to the character.

2)CM Punk- His current gimmick. Anti-hero fighting the establishment

Noteworthy mentions: Sin Cara, Sheamus, Ted Dibiase Jr

Tweener:

1)Orton- I'd make him the Anti-hero he was back in mid-late 2010. I'd drop the whole snake thing though. Or I'd give him a cocky veteren type gimmick. Similar to the Legend killer but he IS the legend.

Heel:

1) John Cena- I'm going to get flamed for this. Something along the lines of: "You're retarded. You'd make no merchandise sales without Cena!!" I'm sorry but I personally think I could make up them merchandise sales by shoving a new star down the WWE universe' throats. Also, Hogan turned heel back in wCw yet nWo merchandise still sold amazingly well. I personally think the same would go for Cena. But back to why I'd turn him heel. The guy is charismatic but his character is stale. His current promo's make me want to facepalm but I'm sure he could cut a good promo if he wasn't tied down by the corny face character.

2)Christian- The guy is one of the few people who can play both Heel and face very effectively. He carried the ECW brand for over a year and made it watchable. If WWE actually made the guy credible and gave him a few clean wins with a reign which lasts over a month, then I'm sure he'd be a top player.

Noteworthy mentions: John Morrison, Wade Barrett, The Miz, Cody Rhodes

Face: John Cena. I'd have him pretty much like he is now, but with more of a mean streak. He sells a lot of merchandise, has tons of charisma, and isn't bad in the ring (despite what some close-minded people think)

Face: Sheamus. Make him more badass, and he could be sort of like Goldberg, but with much more charisma. He also good in the ring (great compared to other big men)

Face: CM Punk. He is extremely over, very talented on the mic and in the ring, and he could easily be the face of the company. He would be in his Best in the World/Voice of the Voiceless gimmick.

Heel: I haven't really liked him since he was drafted to RAW, but I absolutely loved him on Smackdown. I would give him Mason Ryan as a bodyguard and Rosa Mendes as some kind of assistant.

Heel: Wade Barrett. Is good on the mic and in the ring. He has the look of a champion, and has proven that he can be a main eventer.

Heel: Dolph Ziggler. Is good in the ring, and decent on the mic. Have him stay with Vickie, and put an end to this storyline where they are having problems. It should be like when he was Intercontinental Champion.

Christian-I really hate his current heel gimmick, he was way better as a face

Big Show

John Morrison

CM Punk(his current role, more of a tweener really)

Tweener

Kane

Daniel Bryan(making him vicious, but not negative towards the fans)

Heel

John Cena

Randy Orton

Wade Barrett

Mark Henry

Alberto del Rio

The Miz

I'd also have a few upper mid card guys who occasionally main event, without getting right into the big picture fully(though they may or may not wind up winning the title for a while, think CM Punks first WHC run)

Dolph Ziggler

Drew McIntyre

Kofi Kingston

Cody Rhodes

R-Truth

Face:

1. CM Punk. Duh. Guy can do it all. Make you love him, make you despise him, he knows every little nuance and everything to do to accomplish what he needs to.

2. Zack Ryder. Again, duh. He seems to be getting somewhere in WWE now and it's all due to his months of hard work, self promotion and natural charisma. Guy's earning it for sure. Could be a big player if WWE wises up. Stranger things have happened.

3. The Miz. The fans seem ready to cheer him on any time now, WWE just has to pull the trigger.

Heel:

1. R-Truth. Guy makes a better psycho than Sid ever did.

2. Cody Rhodes. Phenomenal character, promo artist, and good in the ring.

3. Ezekiel Jackson. Guy was much more menacing when he was bodyslamming Big Show than he is coming down to the ring all smiles and sunshine and getting mangled every week.

Face:

John Cena- He would be playing more of an edgier role simiilar to that in 2007-2008 but still retain his face qualities.

Dolph Ziggler- He has what it takes to be a huge star but I think he could pull of a face roll. Its something new for his charcter.

Randy Orton- He just cant go back down to heel mode now, hes way too over.

Heel:

The Miz- Its time for him to get back into the world title picture if hes ever going to be the face of the company.

John Morrison- He would be playing the prettyboy role.

Jack Swagger- He has charisma in my eyes. Hes a former world champ stuck playing shit roles from time to time. Someone with as much skill as his deserves a title run.

Face-

Daniel Bryan-face/good guy of the company.

CM Punk- no need to add anything.

Alberto Del Rio- extremely over in Mexico, I believe he has what it takes to be over in the WWE

Heel

John Cena- Would be a great heel could take on the persona of he is sick and tired of being cheered and booed, he wants it one way or the other(weak I know  )

Randy Orton- One of the best heel in the biz, when booked right.

Randy and John would be the anti faces of the company.....

Not going to do another heel.

Weak? Tremendous! That's the best move WWE could do right now. That and keeping CM Punk and Cena on the same brand. They could develop a glorious storyline, maybe even close to the level of stone cold vs rock feuds.
