MMA Hour was heartbreaking to watch today :/

Ive yet to watch it but I read a few things, seems hes never going back to the UFC after that. Don't think the UFC realizes what Helwani does. If it wasn't for him I would think alot of these fighters are just meatheads that know one thing but the dude humanizes these fighters better than any UFC produced document does.

Wonder if WWE would hire him as a backstage interviewer. Dude loves wrestling.

EDIT: Spoke too soon i suppose!

MMA Hour was heartbreaking to watch today :/

Didn't tune in live. Gonna listen/watch it after Raw.

A battle between top-ranked UFC strawweight contenders Rose Namajunas and Karolina Kowalkiewicz is the latest addition to the fight card of UFC 201. The UFC confirmed the match-up on Monday following an initial report by ESPN.

Namajunas (5-2) enters the bout on the brink of title contention, riding a three-fight win streak highlighted by dominant finishes over Paige VanZant and Invicta champion Angela Hill.

The talented 23-year-old also holds a trio exhibition victories over the likes of Joanne Calderwood and Randa Markos from her time on The Ultimate Fighter 20. Namajunas most recently captured a close unanimous decision over Tecia Torres at UFC on FOX 19, and is currently the third-ranked strawweight on the UFC's media-generated rankings.

She'll now take on Kowalkiewicz (9-0), a 30-year-old Polish prospect who has quickly established herself as a name to watch in the division with back-to-back victories over Markos and Heather Jo Clark under the UFC banner.

Prior to fighting in the UFC, Kowalkiewicz picked up a win in Invicta FC over highly-regarded Japanese strawweight Mizuki Inoue and also reigned as KSW's strawweight champion. She is currently the No. 6 ranked strawweight in the UFC.

UFC 201 takes place July 30 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Ga. The event is headlined by two title fights, as welterweight champion Robbie Lawler looks to defend his belt against Tyron Woodley, and flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson takes on Wilson Reis.

An updated UFC 201 fight card can be seen below.

  • Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley
  • Demetrious Johnson vs. Wilson Reis
  • Rose Namajunas vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz
  • Matt Brown vs. Jake Ellenberger
  • Francisco Rivera vs. Erik Perez
  • Ian McCall vs. Justin Scoggins
  • Nikita Krylov vs. Ed Herman
  • Siyar Bahadurzada vs. Claudio Silva
  • Cesar Arzamendia vs. Damien Brown
  • Michael Graves vs. Bojan Velickovic
  • Damian Grabowski vs. Anthony Hamilton

That'll be a good fight. Karolina was great against HJC. Super calm, composed and confident.

The "C" in UFC must stand for "cash."

The UFC has received two bids in the range of $4.1 billion and a sale is close, according to an ESPN.com report Thursday. The two high bidders, per ESPN sports business inside Darren Rovell, are WME-IMG (in conjunction with Dalian Wanda Group) and China Media Capital.

The sale would be for the entire company. Currently, both groups are trying to completely finance the buyout, the report said. The results of that could determine which bidder ends up buying the UFC.

ESPN reported that one of the potential investors for WME-IMG is the Kraft Group, which owns the New England Patriots. A Kraft spokesman declined comment to ESPN. Robert Kraft is a friend of UFC president Dana White; White, a former Boston resident, has been spotted numerous times on the sidelines at Patriots games.

White declined comment to ESPN. He has previously denied past ESPN reports of a sale. Last month, White said on The Dan Patrick Show that the promotion was not up for sale. Instead, White said, the UFC was looking to expand.

"Obviously, if I'm in the middle of a deal right now, there's a lot of confidentiality involved in it," White said at the time. "We're working on expanding. We're working on growing the company and moving into other territories like China and Japan, Korea. So, yeah, we're always working on deals.

"As far as the UFC being for sale, I've said this a million times, we get offers on the UFC all the time. It started in 2010. We got our first offer for the company, which was over $1 billion and we turned it down."

ESPN reported May 10 that the UFC was in heavy discussions to sell and four bidders had emerged.

The UFC is owned primarily by casino billionaires Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta. White and Flash Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi government, also own a percentage.

According to Jeremy Botter of FloCombat, Ultimate Fighting Championship has accepted a $4.2 billion bid to be sold to the ownership group of WME-IMG, the Dalian Wanda Group, The Kraft Group and Tencent Holdings, the owners of the largest internet portal in China.

While the sale is not yet complete, an announcement is expected to come shortly following UFC 200 in July.

FloCombat sources indicated the majority of the money for the deal is coming from the Dalian Wanda Group and Tencent Holdings. But WME-IMG and the Kraft Group would act as the faces of the new ownership group, at least in North America.

As for the future of Dana White in UFC, sources note White will be staying with the company and will retain his role as UFC President. White’s current shares in Zuffa will be sold as part of the deal, but he will be granted new shares to stay on in his current promotion capacity.

It appeared CM Punk's UFC debut vs. newcomer Mickey Gall was set for UFC 202 in late August but according to MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, the fight will not be taking place during WWE's SummerSlam weekend.

Helwani tweeted that the fight date is far from a done deal but it's looking like it will happen at UFC 203 on September 10th in Cleveland. Helwani wrote the following on Punk, who signed with UFC in December 2014:

The date for CM Punk's highly anticipated debut has been set.

CM Punk announced Thursday morning on the new UFC Unfiltered podcast that he will be facing Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on Sept. 10 in Cleveland. MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani had previously reported that debuting at UFC 203 was the plan for Punk.

Punk broke the news officially to Unfiltered hosts Matt Serra and comedian Jim Norton. The former WWE star signed with the UFC in December 2014 to much buzz and most expected him to have fought by now, but a series of injuries sidelined him.

Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, said he was just cleared by doctors this week after a back injury put him on the shelf in February. He has been training for more than a year now at Roufusport in Milwaukee.

The Chicago native left WWE in early 2014 after butting heads with company execs. He stunned the pro-wrestling and MMA worlds later that year by announcing his signing with the UFC. Punk had no previous combat sports experience and very little martial arts training outside of some Brazilian jiu-jitsu with Rener Gracie and kenpo karate when he was younger.

Serra and Norton asked him for his motivation on the podcast. Many critics thought he would never go through with stepping in the Octagon, but now the date has been set. Punk was a former WWE champion and one of the biggest stars in sports entertainment.

"I think there's probably something seriously wrong with me," Punk said with a laugh. "Everyone is trying to figure out why I would want to do this. I'm a guy who gets bored easily and I have goals and there's things in life I enjoy. It's not about the destination; it's about the journey."

Gall (2-0) debuted in the UFC with a first-round submission victory over Mike Jackson in February. He was picked up after being discovered by UFC president Dana White and Serra on the "Lookin' for a Fight" show on UFC Fight Pass. Gall called out Punk while White and Serra were in the audience and White liked his style and personality.

Gall, 24, was told if he beat Jackson, he'd get his wish: a fight with CM Punk. And that's exactly what the New Jersey native did.

UFC 203 is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Alistair Overeem. In the co-main event, former heavyweight champ Fabricio Werdum meets Ben Rothwell.

It's unclear where on the card Punk vs. Gall will be, but it is likely to be featured on pay-per-view.

After being pulled from UFC 200 for a potential doping violation on Wednesday night, UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones denied taking any illegal substances at a news conference Thursday.

“Supposedly they found something in one of my samples that I don’t know what it is,” Jones said. “ don’t even know how to pronounce it.”

Out-of-competition tests are performed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), which handles the administration of all UFC drug tests as well as management of the results and adjudication. The USADA database shows that Jones has been tested six times in 2016.

Jones apologized to the fans, the UFC, and his opponent up until yesterday Daniel Cormier.

“I want to apologize to all the fans who came out to support me for UFC 200, the UFC, the Fertittas,” he said. “I want to apologize to Daniel Cormier. I know this fight means a lot to him. It means a lot to me.”

The three-round heavyweight bout between Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt will now be the main event, but the damage done to the once infallible light heavyweight champ may be irreparable.

Jones tested positive for cocaine use in another out-of-competition test in December 2014 during the lead up to his first bout with Cormier at UFC 182 in January 2015. The results were released after Jones won by unanimous decision and he was later fined $25,000 for violation the UFC’s fighter code of conduct.

Several months later Jones was involved in a hit-and-run accident that saw him suspended indefinitely by the UFC and forced to vacate his light heavyweight title. He was sentenced to 18 months probation and was instructed to make 72 appearances talking to children about his actions and doing charity work.

He was reinstated by the UFC in October 2015 and returned to the octagon with a unanimous decision victory over Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197 this past April - a bout originally meant for Daniel Cormier, who was forced to withdraw due to a foot injury.

I'm definitely angry about this. I really wanted to see CORMIER beat Jones too despite how unlikely that is. *Censored*, Jones. Dude plays victim card how he's lost so much but doesn't acknowledge how he's hurt others around him. *Censored* out of here. Definetely wasn't shocked when I woke up and saw Jones is out. Even more annoying because I watched the press conferences last night and Jones talks about how he's a changed man. *censored*ing *Censored*.

LAS VEGAS — "The Spider" crawled in at the last minute.

Anderson Silva, one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport, will step in and face Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 on less than two days notice, sources confirmed with MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani on Thursday night. Cormier will face Silva in a non-title bout in the light heavyweight division Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Globo was first to float the news Thursday afternoon. TMZ reported it later Thursday night.

Cormier was supposed to defend his UFC light heavyweight title against interim champion Jon Jones in the UFC 200 main event, but Jones was pulled from the card Wednesday after failing a USADA out-of-competition drug test.

The UFC spent all of Wednesday night and Thursday trying to find a replacement opponent. Silva, the former middleweight champion, was already going to be in Las Vegas to induct his mentor Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira into the UFC Hall of Fame on Sunday. Silva was the UFC's desired choice from the beginning.

Cormier (17-1) asked UFC president Dana White if he could just sign a waiver and fight Jones anyway. The emotional scene was captured on the UFC Embedded web series. Cormier, 37, also went before the media Wednesday night and it seemed like it would be difficult to find an opponent for him. That meant a potential payday of millions of dollars was squandered.

Silva (33-7, 1 NC), though, will save the day. It's an odd matchup, considering the Brazilian superstar is coming off surgery to remove his gall bladder just seven weeks ago. Silva, 41, is also coming off a unanimous decision loss to Michael Lisping in February. "The Spider" has not registered an official victory since 2012.

The fighters will weigh-in beginning at 8 a.m. Friday morning, meaning this is one of the most last-minute changes in UFC history. And it involves the biggest card ever and one of the greatest luminaries ever to grace the Octagon.

The UFC announced later Thursday night that Miesha Tate vs. Amanda Nunes for the women's bantamweight title will be the new UFC 200 main event. Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt will go back to the co-headliner.
