So, Status

Recommended Posts

I've had about 3 mods tell me that if you're friends with G, you're an automatic mod. It's an unfair system and only the popular-deserving people (like Tsel and DAN were very recognizable members who deserved their moderation) get moderated. Half of them don't even do anything anymore, and they have more than enough mods for modding this forum. I can think of about 10 deserving members over the ones we have right now.

Rarely spoke to G, wasn't considered his friend and oh look, I'm a mod...Yeah, that statement is real asinine (I gotta stop using that word). G goes to the mods themselves asking for recommendations, he gets them and acts upon it. People aren't picked on popularity, they are picked on how they can help the forum. For example, I help the forum by looking over EWR, Ernez does the rounds in WWE 12, etc, etc.

Did I say every mod was picked that way? No. From what I've saw in the EWR forum before it had it's depression, yuo deserved it. Ernez was actually trying to help out before his moderation which he why he was modded. Please, show me what Raff does to help around the forum besides posting pictures of himself.

The wording of this sentence: I've had about 3 mods tell me that if you're friends with G, you're an automatic mod. Suggests that it could be any amount, and by your tone, I thought you were suggesting a majority. But looking back at it now, the whole thing has confused me:

"It's an unfair system and only the popular-deserving people (like Tsel and DAN were very recognizable members who deserved their moderation) get moderated."

Aren't the popular-deserving people meant to be moderators? How is that unfair? And how do you know most of us don't even do anything? You aren't in every damn section, are you?

To be honest, if this whole thread was made because Status said God wasn't real and then asked for proof from you Alex to which you just whined and complained like a little baby to which Iron_Man then saw and as a result posted this thread, then it should be closed. No proof has been posted. If proof (recent proof that is) is posted, then we'll see, but until then, why don't you all just simmer down.

It also has nothing to do with that anyway. I'm not religious so I could care less on his views for God. I just think it's a little ignorant to say if something is real or isnt real without solid proof.

That's great you debunked my theory, but isn't it a little bad your...moderators kind of, you know, provoke and insult members?

I'm pretty sure saying I'm crying, and that it's typical, is an insult or a provocation.

Funny thing is, you pretty much did cry about it. He said "show me proof" and you get all upset about it. And he is pretty much stating facts there.

And hold up, "You should've read more posts here. We agreed that we are not doing this side-conversation about proof of existence. Very obvious you don't read topics."

Didn't you ask him for proof of God? So therefore you made the side-conversation, so therefore you are off-topic...Double-standard? I think so.

See the problem is people seem to think being on the Mod team means you can no longer show emotion or give an opinion at all. There's always at least one person waiting to say you're acting inappropriate for being a Mod. I'm going to be honest Alex that example you provided wasn't offending at all, ive never had a problem with you so this is a unbiased opinion.

That was before RVF/Purple Rayne alerted us to stay on-topic. I thought it was kinda on-topic at first since the thread was about God, but I guess it wasn't, so I stopped the conversation there.

I don't usually share logs, but lets take a look, huh?

Statusâ„¢ 490

He's actually ABOVE a current GMod. And Status has been Mod for what? 6-7 months? The Gmod in question has been mod for over a year.

Get it, got it? Good.

Whilst we're on the topic of moderation, I would like to ask why Spyder78 is not a Moderator. I feel that the guy is the most deserving regular member of a spot on the Mod team. I'm not friends with him, not to say that I don't get on with him, but I think he is a genuinely nice member, he's really helpful (Website & Forum Help can testify for me here), is of a good nature, and has been on the board long enough to have the knowledge and forum experience to do an effective job here. Not to mention he is one of, if not, the most active members on the forums, and is consistent with that. I'm not trying to start something here, and I don't want a whole host of other members turning this topic into a petition, I was just generally wondering the reason why :).

Alex, Raff had every right to say, "Show me proof that he is." after you asked him for proof in the first place, it was not at all "very un-modlike" as he was contributing to the discussion that you yourself started.

For you to then go on and say that people only become mods for being friends with G is absolutely ridiculous. Before I became a mod, I had never spoken to the guy, and was a pretty unknown member of the board. Stop making outlandish statements.

But in all honesty, you started the whole off-topic debate which lead to him 'offending' you. Not knowing if it's on-topic or not gives you no excuse to use it to try and get him demodded.

You and your friend Iron_Man can run along now.

Oh and stop making outlandish statements

Maybe he has done that much actions, but his...as Iron_Man called it..."douchyness" should be talked about and toned down. He has a huge ego, and the power has gotten to his head.

He got auto-black listed a few years ago when he sent me child porn through PM in order to get himself banned, from what I remember. Don't want any of that on the forum, plus his posts are way too sexual and we don't want that when Staff has to deal with minors. I just feel he isn't mature enough for his age, to be helping others who are still at school. :) Thats 100% the truth. I've never thought he was fit to be a moderator.

For the record it wasn't even close to child porn...

In all fairness, he can't both be doing very little, as you said, and the power having gone to his head. Power having gone to his head would mean power-abuse. Status doesn't abuse his mod-powers (And I see that he has indeed modded alot, which I said he didn't seem to... Then again, I mistook the section he's a mod for for the WWE'12 section, which Ernez handles almost everything in, haha).

Status approached me after I said I didn't understand why he's a moderator, and it was because I never saw him mod, and because I've seen him get into personal squabbles and seemingly taking msn conversations and "shit" onto the boards. (I don't remember the topic, but him and CxE stunk it up). I was mistaken about his activity, cause I had gotten his mod-section confused with another section.

As I said, he's not a dick or a terrible guy, he's just the only mod I've seen who ends up getting personal with folk in debates. Whether you're a mod or not, that's a bad thing, and we're all guilty of it sometimes, the mods are just the measuring stick for "a good member", making it important not to slip up and lash out.

In any case, I think this whole rhubarb is down to personal issues between people, rather than actual mod-status (pun totally intended)
