Capture devices/Tuner Cards

Lately i've been wanting to get a capture card for my laptop/tv to record matches on SvR. But when i googled/wikipedia'd them i got a whole bunch of technical jargon that i didn't understand one bit. I dont want to spend my money on something that's not compatible/is the completely wrong thing. So can someone please give me a basic rundown of Capture cards and how they work?. I saw on wikipedia something about USB ones too? Any help would be greatly appreciated

BTW if this goes in another section feel free to move it :)

Bought this 5yrs ago and been the best investment for me so far, you can plug in almost anything as I've had my Xbox 360/PS2 and I have ripped programs off my cable box with this bad boy XD. No need to install this into pc/laptop as I said it plugs into your USB slot and using either S cables or those Red/Yellow/White av cords

If you want to see the quality of the vids and pics I have gotten from using this cap card

Highest quality and cheapest option on the market.

Can record up to 720p and is just simple as plugging in via USB and clicking on the software that's included.

Don't buy this unless you have a really good computer. I have one and it lags while I'm recording making it hard to play. Though this wouldn't be a problem if you have a splitter.

It would also just stop recording after about 5 minutes and say it had an error.

This isn't true at all. My computer has about 500MB of RAM, and a slow processer. I've recorded 30 minute videos flawlessly. It depends on how high your settings are and what program you're using. For example, I was using VirtualDub and it lagged like *censored*. On Ulead, it runs smoothly.

Is this compatible with Mac? If it is then that price seems very reasonable.
