The wait for his second game on the system looks to be considerably shorter, as Nintendo president Satoru Iwata today announced a new installment in the Kirby's Dreamland side-scrolling platformer series is in development for the Wii. Cutest regurgitation-themed mascot of all time. Iwata didn't give the game a name, but he did say it is in development at Hal Labs. The studio has decades of experience working on the franchise, from the original Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy in 1992 to more recent efforts like 2008's Kirby Super Star Ultra. The new Hal Kirby game is expected to see release later this year. That wasn't the only new game unveiled by Iwata. The executive also confirmed that the DS Rhythm Heaven series (Rhythm Tengoku in Japan) would be getting a Wii installment, with a multiplayer mode allowing friends to call out each other's missteps. Like Kirby, the Wii version of the game is expected to debut later this year. Iwata also announced Battle & Get! Pokemon Typing DS, a typing tutorial game set for Japanese release this April. Designed to appeal to adults, as well as children, Pokemon Typing will come with a wireless keyboard that will communicate with a Bluetooth receiver in the game card. While Nintendo isn't guaranteeing the keyboard will work with other devices, Iwata noted that he has personally managed to get it working with the iPhone and Android devices. Color me psyched for this. Don't get me wrong, Kirby's Epic Yarn was pretty good but it just didn't feel like a Kirby game to me. Plus the fact that you couldn't DIE didn't help much either. Now we got a brand new Kirby game coming out with HAL calling the shots this time around.
D.A.N.
This game looks great. Apparently it's potentially the 1-4 player co-op Kirby that has been in development for years.

[/quote] I felt the exact same way. Which is why I'm excited for this.
Lumpy McRighteous
Epic Yarn was fun as hell, but I'm glad I'm not alone when saying that it just didn't feel 100% like a Kirby game, even though it kept the charm of the series intact. EY was a nice deviation from the standard formula, but I'm definitely looking forward to this new take on Dream Land.
Sam The Dude
Yeah, Kirby Crystal Shards was one of my favorite games when I was little. When I got a Wii, I started using it as a tool as sorta getting the updated versions of games I adored on the N64. I picked up Epic Yarn and was sorta dissapointed. I always associate Kirby with two thing. Flying and...swallowing. I will definately be picking this up.
