Nike The Bike
I started this thread to get a discussion on how to make the performance better. Tweaking settings, special mods of the game, all suggestions are welcome. For example I was wondering if making textures transparent for announcers would make the game run faster. Or is it possible to remove these models from the match some other way? Can we mod the arena some way to remove things from it like some of the crowd? Here are my tips & tricks so far along with my own configuration. Game version PAL runs faster on PCSX2 since 50FPS is the default and NTSC needs higher FPS to run normal speed. PCSX2 hacks Play all matches in an empty SmackDown arena and get MUCH better FPS out of the game. Since my CPU has 4 cores with 8 threads I make sure that only 2 threads on 2 physical cores are running. Jet Phantom
turn off the sound in the emulator, it makes that the game has less lag problems. also, for have a better quality (over 90% or 80%) you need at least 4 gb ram. if you have less ram, quality goes down . Nike The Bike
This is kind of strange but disabling sound in my SPU plugin actually made the game slower.

Nike The Bike
Is it possible to make it so that all matches take place in the Royal Rumble match arena? It has less crowd so that it can hold more characters on screen without lag. If all matches were in that arena I'm pretty sure I'd get atleast almost 100% speed out of the game all the time. Nike The Bike
I found some codes on CodeX that seems to do what I wanted (all matches in the Royal Rumble match arena). Need to get time to convert them to a PCSX2 patch and test it though. Anyone has the know how and wants to help?Preferrably a PAL user since that's what I run and it runs faster on PCSX2 aswell. Put this line in your SVR2010 PAL PCSX2 cheat file: patch=1,EE,004D3C50,extended,00000017 You will play all matches in an empty SmackDown arena and you will get MUCH better FPS out of the game. Nike The Bike
I got so much FPS with the new arena that I could upgrade to the NTSC version that has smoother animations because of the higher frame rate. Nice!

Nike The Bike
Yeah the newest version is better. However not lightyears better, just a little. The improvement from using the non detailed arena is probably the best improvement one could make. Removing the ref should make it quicker aswell if that's possible.
we could replace the ref with one of the smaller sized announcer pacs, that probably have 02.yobj with less polygons. also make the textures in 09 transparent to hide him
Nike The Bike
Yeah that would probably make it a little faster too. Or make a generic referee texture over that small yobj instead of having it transparent.
yes thats an even better idea, ill try making a simple hebner mod over an announcer 3D-model... maybe we should make the 80s ref attire, with shirt and bow tie:)
Nike The Bike
Cool. A blue shirt Hebner? Thing is perhaps trying to make a real referee might not work so well... But it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
i checked and there are also small pacs for refs (probably for the 6-man matches) the smallest of svr06 is 82kb and its CH2.PAC.56.PAC (referee brian hebner - blue) could you try this to see if the speed will increase? coroner2010
I saw some mentions to eliminating the ref (alpha), or a patch to get rid of the audience to speed things up. Instead of totally eliminating either one, maybe just eliminating alpha on certain "types" of repeated audience members would be enough to speed things up...in other words reducing the crowd...especially or those who play off the disc and have slowdown in 6 man matches. Nike The Bike
Question is if using alpha and transparency will have any effect at all on speed. I mean the model will still be there, just not rendered visual to the player. Perhaps it IS rendered anyway, but transparent...
the model will still be loaded, and the texture will be probably loaded, and even if it is transparent, it still has the same file size.
